This restaurant has the best Chinese food in the entire Skagit Valley and the service is excellent. I have eaten in the restaurant and the bar as well. Always good food and friendly staff. 5 stars

I’m a local and this is a great spot. We love the lounge area, two pool tables that are always open and great bartenders. We always get the Szechuan chicken… The dinner portion is more than enough for two. This is also the spot for one of my favorite hot and sour soups. I always get a bowl to go!

Great food! We have been up there for the tulip festival for 2 years and each time we frequent this place at least once. They have great noodle dishes as well as beef dishes and the staff is very friendly. I’d recommend the following: * Beef Chow Fun * Mongolian Beef(med to hot spicy) * Kung Pao Chicken(med to hot spicy)

I came during a holiday to this small town, so a lot of the other restaurants are either closed or jam packed. For some reasons when I searched for Chinese this restaurant didn’t pop out in Unilocal. But we saw the banners and decided to come in. Pretty good for a small town Chinese food. Lunch special comes with soup and rice and costs about 7.50 $. Orange chicken and Mandarin beef were deep fried and oily good. Crispy, crunchy, fatty, and sweet. Panda Express-like. Beef Chow Ho Fun(Aka Beef Chow Fun) is oily but tasty. The chow fun was pretty fresh. I liked this the best. Veggie egg foo young is like scrambled eggs mixed with a bunch of cut veggies and sprinkled with scallion and some yellow(rather creepy looking) gravy. It was pretty good actually. Not sure if I will come back, but not bad for a stop place if you’re touring the Roozengarde area.

This chinese restaurant is for American and not for Chinese. When you trying to find a restaurant for Chinese to eat, just continue searching. When you try to search a «American Style Chinese restaurant», This one is the best one!

If you are looking for fresh and tasty Hong Konger food keep looking. If you want Americanized battered-and-fried«Chinese» food, this is your place!

I’ve been going to Hong Kong for quite some time, this restaurant and the one in Anacortes(if they’re related). I am very disappointed they got rid of my favorite menu item, the BBQ pork with Sai Fun, but maybe they’ll make it some time when I come back. Their food is always hot and fresh. The chicken fried rice I love, topped with fresh scallion. The Mongolian beef I really like, different from most places, but in a unique and tasty way with more vegetables and a less sweet soy based sauce. All of their fried dishes are super crunchy and flavorful. The sweet and sour, almond fried anything, and egg foo young are standbys. Give it a try!!!

I can agree with the others, the Szechuan chicken is pretty awesome! GF got the ginger beef, not sure how they get the beef that tender, made us suspuscius. Good service, I will return if in the neighborhood.

It was a typical dark and dreary saturday shortly after 11:00am in the pacific northwest and me and four others were trying to find somewhere to have lunch. We drove past this restaurant and turned around because we agreed on having chinese food. It was the best decisions we ever made. We walked in shortly after they opened and got seated immediately. We were given tea to drink while we were waiting. It was the best tea i’ve ever had. It was so good, i didn’t need to add any sweeteners to it, and i never do that. As a group of five people, we ordered Kung Pao Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Cashew Chicken along with the sides of hot and sour soup. The soup was very interesting. The Kung Pao Beef wasn’t spicy enough due to the fact that everybody else wanted it to be a 1 on a scale of 5 for spiciness. The Sweet and Sour Pork was so amazing and was as tender as chicken and had a perfectly crispy outside. The sauce was great and had a nice mild citrusy flavor to it. The Cashew Chicken was nothing too amazing, but had a nice nutty flavor to it. Overall, the food was very good for the money! The sauces were perfect and weren’t overly salty. Everything tasted really fresh, and the vegetables had good crunch to them. The dishes were presented beautifully and cut nicely in bite sized chunks. It was nice and warm, but not hot to where you have to wait five minutes for everything to cool down. If you want great service and good chinese food, give this place a try. You won’t regret it.

Decided to check out this chinese restaurant today. I’ve probably driven by it a 100 times! The banner that hung on the restaurant said they were the #1 people’s choice restaurant for like a decade or something. The sign itself made me question my decision. However I’m glad we gave it a shot. I loved the honey walnut prawns and the mandarin beef. Both very flavorful! The dishes were decently priced and they had big portions! The service was fast and friendly as well.

Waste of good money on bland, low quality food. When we sat and asked the waitress about the specials she told us what it was followed by, «yeah, I don’t really like it. I don’t know what it’s supposed to taste like.» We should have caught on when it mostly empty on a Friday night at 7:30. Spend your money elsewhere.

Fly like a G6, like a G6… Fried like a G8, like a G8. That’s my own song, about the Szechuan Chicken(menu item G8). I was worried about coming back after I learned that ownership had changed – in the decade that had passed since I last ate here. This is an American-Chinese restaurant, specifically-geared, but it’s all about the execution of it — and they do it really, really well. You’ll have to request chopsticks, since they aren’t on the table when you are seated. I don’t really know what General Tso’s chicken is, but I understand that [this] is similar. The pieces of fried chicken are HUGE. CRISPY. SAUCY. SAVORY. SWEET. It’s supposed to be spicy, and I ordered it that way, but it came out with little spice *sniff* I looked for chili oil on the table. Drats. They still don’t have chili oil for patrons. The service was terrific, the décor a little brighter than I remember(less pink too). Because the G8 recipe was so spot-on from previous years, I wondered if the other items that I liked were still the same recipe too? Old favorites include Chicken Fried Rice(I NEVER eat fried rice, and this is/was good fried rice), Shrimp with Pea Pods, Mau Pau Tofu, hot and sour soup, and egg rolls(me thinks the egg rolls changed.) You used to get two to an order and they were the size of a fat burrito each. Now, there’s three to an order, so I’m thinking(hoping) that they made the egg rolls smaller. It will probably be a while before I’m back this way again, but this is a stop-worthy place. Oh, and they have a shrimp version of the G8 too. Go ahead, order both in one sitting. I would.

Having lived in the Skagit Valley for 15 years, it’s testament to how one bad experience can stick with a customer for a long time. I first tried Hong Kong about 12 years ago, and was unimpressed enough to wait a decade before doing so again. What a difference that time has made! My wife and I(reluctantly) opted for Chinese food a tonight, and had a competitor selected as our destination. On our way, I noticed Hong Kong’s parking lot was pretty full, and I suggested we give them another chance. With trepidation(my spur-of-the-moment suggestions rarely end well) we stepped inside and were promply greeted and sat by the friendly wait staff. When we asked for suggestions on the menu, and she suggested the Garlic Pork. My wife ordered the Mushu Pork, and we each started with the Hot and Sour Soup. I will agree wholeheartedly with John C’s review above — The soup was spectacular, being both lighter on the palate, and infused with vegetables than we are accustomed to. My wife and I agreed we’d be ordering the soup alone as a takeout item on cold days. We noticed a pattern as we looked around the restaurant — Soup is apparently a very popular item here, and we’re determined to return and try some other varieties. While our Hot and Sour was just a cup, an appetizer for our main courses, the entrée soups were served in generous bowls and overlowing with shrimp, pork, and other goodies we can’t wait to try on our next visit. The Garlic Pork was light and flavorful, with the vegetables cooked perfectly — Retaining much of their flavor and just enough crunch to seem just a little out of place in such a humble restaurant. My wife and I were both a little put off at first by the size of the pork bits in our meals — We both tend to prefer more finely-sliced pieces of meat in our Chinese cuisine, but it ended up not being a problem for either of us once we tasted our entrees. The Mushu portion was enormous, and fully two thirds of it came home with us in a doggie bag. The vegetables were fresh, with a generous dash of seaweed, and the plum sauce was spot on. To summarize, our expectations were exceeded — Living in a small town we’re accustomed to «making do» with the local fare, and it was a pleasant surprise to find this little gem had reinvented itself right under our noses. Our only regret is being ignorant of the ownership change and waiting so long to try them again. I’m not suggesting you should expect a five star dining experience here, but you will almost certainly be pleasantly surprised with the fare.

You can’t expect great Chinese food this far north of the port city of Seattle, but the Hong Kong does a pretty good job. Its lunch specials are a great value. The wait staff is always very attentive. And they get the hot and sour soup right — it’s kinda greasy at a lot of restaurants. I’ll select this over the other Chinese restaurants available in the Skagit Valley.

The food is fantastic and the service great. It’s not a fancy restaurant, but you get a lot of food for the money, especially if you order the family combos! We come here a lot for birthdays. It’s one of our favorites!

We spent the better part of the afternoon roaming the Northern State Recreational Facility, and were pretty hungry. We decided to try a Chinese place, but knew we were out of the Cultural Mecca that is the Greater Seattle area, so we pretty much expected to get Americanized Chinese food. Well, we were right — the restaurant reminded me of the Chinese dive we used to eat at when I was a kid(anyone remember the Nu-Lite in Kenmore?). We were greeted in a most friendly way and seated immediately. The waitress was helpful, funny and interested in our quirky little family, so the service was wonderful. We started with BBQ pork, which was wonderful — the pork was perfectly marinated and not too dry. For our actual meals, we ordered the individual dinners, and I was quite pleased to learn that they were pretty flexible in the food you can choose. I decided to get combo number 1 double with Chow Mein instead of sweet and sour(I’m not a huge fan of deep fried stuff). I loved the chow mein because it was mostly veggies and bean sprouts on top of the crunchy noodles. But, I have to say that I absolutely LOVED the egg foo young. It was an awesome texture, and the gravy was splendiferous. The fried rice wasn’t good at all — really quite tasteless(reminded me of minute rice with some bbq pork and eggs thrown in). The egg drop soup we had before the meal was inspired — excellent flavor with bean thread noodles in addition to the traditional stuff that is egg flower. All in all, I think this restaurant gets a solid 3 stars — unfortunately, the fried rice(which I believe is one of the most important dishes in Americanized Chinese food) wasn’t very good, but the service was wonderful. We would definitely go back again, but would probably order steamed rice instead of fried.
