If you love port and wine and some fantastic loving fun hosts then you are in for a treat when you get off the boulevard and come into the courtyard. These are the wine makers not someone who is taught how to sell wine. Both of the amazing husband and wife team love their product and are a clear pleasure to speak with. He is proud of his direct lineage to Samuel Becquet, hence the name. And then there is the PORT. You can choose for yourself, but between the Ruby, the Chocolate, and the Twany you will be hard pressed to find better. GIVE them a try and they will become part of your regular visits when in Murphys.

Nothing fancy, just fantastic wines and honest laborers of love. An absolute delight. Even if you’re not a fan of port, here you will be — they are spectacular.

The hostesses are not wine servers they are passionate wine makers who know and love their wines and their customers. A delightful husband and wife couple who bring a taste of Europe to us in Murphys California. The wines are all exceptional but I have a special love for their ports. The tawny port is always an occasion whether enjoying on your own or sharing with close friends. A must stop when you are in Murphys.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I had the white wine flight and everything was delicious. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and they have wonderful stories. It’s ran by a couple that met over 50 years ago, he’s from all over Europe and she is from Germany. I stopped drinking Chardonnay about a year ago because of the acidity and it upsets stomach but they have a bottle of Chardonnay that is buttery while also not being too acidic. It has a wonderful finish of gala apples at the end that just makes it very pleasant and easy to drink. Needless to say, I bought a bottle to bring home.

I am thrilled that I found this treasure tucked away in a courtyard just off the Main Street in Murphys. Do yourself a favor and look for this«Diamond in the Lovely rough» tasting room town. I had the white wine sampling, while my friends chose the red. I’ve grown used to not finding many white wines I enjoy in this primarily red region but found their Pino Gris and Chardonnay exceptional; my friends raved about the Reds, especially the Cab-Shiraz. This is the only winery that we all bought bottles to bring home with us and we all shared the same experience of enjoying the lovely couple that runs the place. Don’t miss this one.

For years my husband and I have been visiting this specific wine tasting place. When we visit Murphy’s we always need to stop here. Until this day I have not found a port as delicious as the ones we buy here. The woman who works there is so sweet and knowledgeable on her wines. We have a punch out card to buy twelve bottles and receive a free one. Make sure to ask for this card if you visit often. Can’t find these delicious wine bottles any where else but here. This is a must stop wine tasting place in Murphy’s.

My husband and I have visited many wineries in our vacation time in CA. We spent some time in Napa & Sonoma. Wine tasting is a hobby of ours and we prefer the smaller less pretentious wineries. Unfortunately, Napa is filled with. snooty, pretentiousness. The wines here are wonderful. The Ports are luscious! We bought 3 bottles. They were very friendly and helpful, They shipped them home for us to NC at a reasonable fee.

If you’re a port lover, stop here to try a few different, delicious types. And if you enjoy a French/German style of winemaking, you are in luck — the wines are delicious and you may find them to be unique from other wines in the area. The wines range from dry to sweet so you are bound to sample something that you’ll enjoy. Domaine Becquet is tucked away in a courtyard on Main Street and well worth finding. The tasting room is casual and run by the winemakers, a very sweet German and French couple. As mentioned by others, there is no tasting fee but donations are encouraged if you don’t buy a bottle. What started off as a slow, quiet tasting for us ended up being a warm, fantastic experience with pleasant conversation plus education about the wines. We now have one more tasting room to add to our regular list of stops when we’re in the area.

Love, love, love this place! The wines are unique and range from the warming chocolate port to the delicate Prelude. If you are looking for truly artisan wines stop here. The owners are so much fun, visiting there is always my favorite part of wine tasting in Murphys.

Now this is a great little tasting room run by the greatest and nicest two people you would ever want to meet. They have some very good wines and an excellent desert wine that you just have to taste to believe. They have a selection of desert wines that will appeal to everyones tastebuds. An hour or so spent in here will be well worth your time and the 5 bucks your willing to donate. 5 thumbs up here.

Domaine Becquet is definitely a hidden gem! Location: The tasting room is located in a courtyard off of Main Street. Look for the A-frame sign on the sidewalk. Wines: There is a large variety of wine to choose from. One wine recently won a Top 25 wines in the US(Sangiovese). I would strongly recommend tasting the wine — it’s worth your time. Ports: On top of their wine selection, Domaine Becquet has some of the best ports I have ever tasted! The ports are very smooth… the owners say this is because of the high end brandy that is used to fortify the port. If you enjoy port, this should be your first Murphys destination! Tasting room: Their tasting room is done quite well. The room itself is very warm and friendly. The owners are so welcoming and nice! I go in there and am still floored by how nice they are. I would recommend this winery to anybody that is looking for some good wine, a good time, or both!

This place is a hidden little gem. It’s out of the way in a recess off of the main drag, but you should go out of your way to find it, the wines, ports and owners are all a delight.

What awesome wines! The winemaker and his wife are a sweet French couple and very fun to talk to. Wine tasting is free; if you don’t buy a bottle, they do encourage a donation but that’s up to you. The wines are crafted extremely well — we ended up buying six bottles! My ultimate favorite is their Viognier. A hint of oak sets it aside from all other Viogniers I’ve had; it’s kind of like a smooth fruity Chard in a way. Delicious. The thing that really stands out here though is the collection of ports. Oh man! So good! My husband tried the ruby port which is a beautiful red color and has a slight hint of a chocolate flavor. I tried the orange port — it’s actually a white port(I’ve never seen that before!) and tastes like chocolate orange candy. The ports are all smooth — not rough and overfortified at all. And you get to sip them out of a cute little cordial glass. Aww! They don’t have a wine club, but they’re going to start a punch-card system… after you buy ten(or twelve, I can’t remember which), you get a free bottle. Leave your name and address and they’ll send you a punch-card as soon as they’re made… and your purchases today will count toward it. :D

This quiet little tasting room is a bit different from other tasting rooms. It’s located in a little courtyard off the main street. Rather than just a few gourmet condiments and t-shirts, this place is more like a little gift shop with a variety of curios for sale. The wines are also a bit different. We sampled the dry wines and the ports. The dry wines were made with subtle finesse. You will not find any over-oaked wines where the flavors from the oak overwhelm the flavors from the grape varietals. I especially liked the sangiovese! According to their website, the wines are aged in oak, but they do not use new oak barrels to avoid imparting too much oak. Also, they do not make them with as high an alcohol content as many California wines. The ports are quite lovely. I liked them all. The flavors are remarkably smooth and rich! These are ports that you can enjoy as a dessert unto themselves. These are ports that should be served in little cordial glasses and savored to the last drop! The Ruby Canterbury Port makes you think of a hint of fine chocolate. They have a chocolate port for those who want more than a hint. Again, these are uncommonly ~~smooth~~ ports. The sweet older couple that were serving were courteous and readiiy answered any questions about the wines. They used to live in Napa, but preferred the less crowded Sierra Foothills after Napa’s popularity soared over the years.

We had a wonderful time tasting the wines and ports at Damaine Becquet. They are so sweet and made us feel like we were long time friends. They have a port that taste just like Chocolate — Heaven!

Bonjour! My sister was in the mood for a little wine tasting and asked if I would accompany her. She didn’t want to appear to be a lush wandering Main Street in search of vino. I, being the wonderful sister that I am, agreed to join her. Not much arm twisting involved! We walked in the door and were immediately greeted by a charming couple. The tasting was free with purchase. If you choose not to purchase, then they asked for a donation to offset the cost of the tastings. They offered a large selection of tastings(2 pages worth) which is more than other tasting rooms in town. We started out with a rose(Oops! I can’t figure out how to put an accent over the«e»). My sister has been on a rose(accent on the«e») kick lately. I am usually not a fan of this varietal, but this one was actually quite good. My sister purchased this on the spot. I guess that negated the need for our donation! Thanks sis! For you port lovers out there, Domaine Becquet offered an assortment of ports for sampling. We both enjoyed the Riesling Port which was actually white in color and very smooth. Perfect for after dinner! A solid 3.5 stars! Au Revoir! ;)

My hubby and I a tasting in Murphy’s a few weeks ago. The two owners of the winery were running the tasting room that day. They were a very nice couple. They were closing for the evening when we popped in but they still helped us and took their time with it. We were unfamiliar with their product and fell madly in love with several of their ports. Their chocolate port is my new addiction. So much so that I’m going to place an order for a case today. I’ve tried other chocolate ports since trying theirs but not one comes close to the luxurious, buttery flavor. The Petite Verdot is also fantastic, as is the tawny port. Wait, maybe I’ll have to buy three cases!
