With all the taste rooms dotting the small landscape of Murphys we were glad to find Zucca Mountain. The tasting room is small but very unique being located in the basement of the building which added charm. Their wines were good, our favorite being the Barbera. Jody who was working the tasting room was a wealth of info and fun to chat with.

We love Zucchini wines. We are members and recommend that everyone try them! Great wines, we love the wine tasting in the earth hewn 1800s cellar! A must stop for anyone in the area.

I was never in Murphy, never even heard of it but am an adventurous type. So my wife and I ventured off here and visited Zucca. The flights are so very generous I had to take a break but before the break we tried the Sorpendere — silver medal — we ended up with two bottles. Very friendly place sat in the outdoor space who h is very peaceful, right on Main street!

This is a fantastic spot, atmospheric tasting room in historic Murphy. The wine is great, the owners are friendly and knowledgeable, you can’t beat the experience for a weekend get-away and a convivial wine tasting atmosphere.

Sue-dee You-dee best, Sue –dee You-dee best If you’re stopping by Zuccas ask for Sue! She is very informative and takes wine tasting to another level. You will walk out feeling like a wine connoisseur. The only thing is I wish we would of made this our first stop. Thanks for everything Sue!!!

The only reason I was to give this 3 stars is simply the downstairs tasting room. its a must see… other than that. the wines really lacked in all areas in our opinion. and although we poured every single one out after tasting. . chances if we pop back in town with friends we will pop in here again just to show them… very nice man pouring and he was another reason for 3 stars

Stopped here with friends while on a little wine tasting tour through Murphys over a year ago but just now getting around to writing a review. The cave-like tasting room is really unique. I tried the Barbera, Sangiovese, and Tesoro. When the server found out I was a Malbec-lover, she left briefly then returned with a bottle and gave me a sample that was not on their tasting menu at the time… a Malbec that wasn’t out yet! I ended up going upstairs and buying a bottle of Barbera from none other than Carol Zucca herself. I have had a few varietals sent to me since then, including my beloved Malbec. A packet of poppy seeds is included with purchases, which is a cute touch. Such a wonderful place. Not sure when I’m going to get back to Murphys but I’m definitely looking forward to returning here!

Zucca was a great place to wine taste. The basement tasting room was cute and unique, and cool, compared to many other before which were just too hot! We enjoyed our time, and tried many good wines. We would like to go back and visit the outdoor fire pit area next time. Thanks for a wonderful experience. :-)

We stopped by to do some tasting. We went to their basement tasting room and were told to go upstairs. Went upstairs and told to go back downstairs. Downstairs is cramped and busy. The pourer was very very slow. I finally left about ¾ way through the tasting. Not impressed with the wines we tried. Barbera was good but I wouldn’t buy anything from them because I was frustrated,

Here’s a five star venue with excellent wines. The wine club here has great events of tasting and paring with wonderful foods. Whites or reds all are done with great finesse.

What a great place! Came in the downstairs and entered a cave for tasting. The tasting room was pretty busy, so we diced to wander upstairs. To our pleasant surprise there was an upstairs tasting room with no one in there. Carol, was delight to talk to as she poured our tastings. Tastings are $ 5/person, but if you buy anything the $ 5 go towards the cost of your purchase. Everyone in our group enjoyed the Pinot Grigio. We will definitely be returning again.

Zinfandel and Syrah grapes flourish in the Sierra Foothills, the warm days and cool nights are an ideal climate for these varietals. There are many distinctive vineyards and wineries in this area. It would be easy to spend several days enjoying beautiful scenery, quiet country roads, clear skies, fresh air and wine. If you don’t have a lot of time, visit the small town of Murphys. There are a lot of tasting rooms on the main street. I enjoy red wine; S doesn’t care much for any wine unless it is sweet. It was S who chose Zucca’s to taste at, he made an excellent choice. There is a courtyard in front with fire pits and tables. Music was playing in the upstairs wine bar and tasting room. We did our tasting in the cave under the main building. It is small and it would be wise to watch your head when you go in or out the doors. The pourer was friendly. It is a unique setting and tasting room. I had decided that we need some sweeter wine so S would have a glass now and then. They offer two ports and they were both good. We finally decided on the Syrah port. It is a great wine and I don’t think the two bottles we brought home will last long. I would have liked to try their other wines. However, I had to drive home not usually a problem unless it is a holiday weekend and there is a teetotaler in the passenger seat.

I love that Murphys has such cute underground tasting rooms. This underground tasting room is unique, but tiny. If you’re tall you really have to watch yourself, my father-in-law is 6’3″ and almost knocked himself out. Yikes! It can also get crowded quickly. Apparently there is an upstairs room, but we never made it up there. Service here was friendly as we tasted. The sad news is that we really didn’t enjoy much of their wine. I bought a bottle because we were using their picnic grounds, but probably wouldn’t have otherwise. Picnic grounds are small, but pleasant & had shaded areas with cozy seating. Bottom line, nice people & picnic areas, but just mediocre wine.

This was my first time wine tasting, but I loved this place! The décor is very charming and they offer a open courtyard area to sit and enjoy your wine as well. They actually have two tasting rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. When I went the upstairs was quite packed so my group and I went to the downstairs one. The employee working was extremely friendly and explained that they charge tasting fees first of $ 5 per person. Not only is the tasting fee inexpensive, but they also give each person a $ 5 coin voucher that is good towards buying wines or other items. Not only can you combine $ 5 coin vouchers, but they also don’t expire. After tasting all the wines on their tasting menu, I loved the Barbera and Port so much I left with quite a few bottles to give away for Christmas gifts and to keep for myself. If I’m ever back in Murphy, i’ll be sure to come visit again.

With so many great wineries and tasting rooms in Murphys, it’s pretty impossible to visit them all in one visit but we always make time for Zucca. Zucca is usually our last stop of the day because they are open after hours from 5pm to 8pm on the weekend. We usually stop in around 4:30 with enough time to taste and purchase before enjoying at glass during their after hours service in the courtyard. The people who work in the tasting room are always friendly and the atmosphere is unique. The bar is located down a set of steep stairs, in a small cave beneath the main room. My favorite spot is the courtyard. Between Zucca’s tasting room and another building is a cozy courtyard with fire pits and comfy seating; the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the wine and the adorable town of Murphys. Make sure to stop in at Zucca even if just to relax in the courtyard after a day of wine tasting.

A+ to these guys for staying open later. After 5pm in Murphys, you’re hard-pressed to find any action. Once the tasting room(the cool downstairs basement area) closes for the day, the upstairs stays open as a regular wine bar. You can order flights or full glasses(I highly recommend getting a flight just for the pure awesomeness of their little flight arrangement — the little samples are arranged on a piece of converted wine barrel and it is adorable). They have a wide range of wines available so there’s a little something for everyone. The best part is the outside patio with a rock garden and fire pits. It’s a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by once you’re in between tasting-room shutdowns and dinner reservations :)

Zucca was open for«after hours» tasting from 5 – 8PM on a Friday night, which made us happy. Kids played in the cellar/tasting room, which isn’t open at night, but it was a great place for them to hang out while we sipped. Enjoyed a bottle of their Sorprendere, a blend of Zin and Syrah, while chatting with the young lady running the tasting room that evening. It was a great place to spend an hour or so; they have a great little courtyard with fire tables and heaters, but only one was working that night and the table was taken. Looking forward to coming back, though!

Watch your step! Both on the way down and definitely on the way up! ;-) Zucca was the 1st place I had EVER gone wine tasting(in 2004!) and at the time, their tastings were free, the people were friendly, and the place was super cute and original. Although the tastings are now $ 5(and you get a $ 5 chip to use towards a bottle of wine or your next tasting), the place has otherwise not changed. THEWINE: I really enjoy Zucca wines and have since that 1st tasting. Now, this time around, it was our 3rd stop(so yes, our taste buds may have been altered), but we still enjoyed our tastes. We came home with the port and the zin. They have aerator type things to help with the pours, which I’m not a fan of but I know it helps the taste.(I just like the pouring.) THELOCATION, AMBIANCE, &SERVICE: As you can see from the pics on their website, this tasting room is UNDERGROUND. You go down some uneven steps and it is like you’re in a cave(or cavern given the area, lol). There is NOT a lot of space in here, so it can get quite cramped… but it is fun down there and there’s a gift shop up another set of steps(that I didn’t actually bother going into). Everyone is super friendly, staff and visitors. Bottom Line — It was my 1st wine tasting experience and I will continue to let it be a part of my future Murphy’s wine tasting experiences. Definitely check it out if you’re in town!
