Russ’s is the love child of a Big Boy and the diner in Pulp Fiction. Quality food and reasonable prices make Russ’s the text book definition of a family restaurant.

Its rare to see a place that makes handmade burgers but this place does. Oh and Mac and Cheese was homemade. The server was helpful in helping me figure out what to eat as I never at at a Russ’.

I don’t know why I love it, but I love Russ’. My grandparents live in Muskegon and whenever I visit them, they take me to Russ’ … so it might just be some sort of nostalgia effect that fills my mind with warm fuzzies. Honestly, the food isn’t anything amazing, but it’s just kind of a fun place. I ‘m not sure if they have it anymore, but they used to have«phone in» dining where you would go into the dining room and order your meal over the phone in your booth. I guess it was a way to stick it to the man. No waitress, you don’t come to me, I come to you. Over phone. But I’m still coming to the restaurant, not going to call from my house. Anyway, my I always get the cheese sticks and a grilled cheese(what I’ve gotten since I was 5, and I should probably consider switching it up for the sake of my life and gut) and my mother swears by the Mini Gourmet salad(I think it’s just a glorified cobb salad with croutons). Expect a lot of blue hairs, pie, and locals.

The onion rings were awesome. My coworkers went mostly with burgers I had a hot meatloaf and one of my coworkers had the hot turkey sandwich. The place definitely caters to the older crowd but serves solid food. The hot meatloaf was tasty with a nice brown gravy. Everyones food looked good and I think i’ll get that hot tureky sandwich nect time, oh and more onion rings.

Cheap, good, homemade food. If you don’t have grandparents around anymore, head to Russ’ cause it’s about the same atmosphere as grandma & grandpa’s and the average age of the customer is in that range as well.

Best onion rings and milkshakes ever. Maybe I’ve had my perception warped by living in California for the last 2 years, but the prices are so low I almost feel guilty for not paying more. Great food. Great prices. Service is suspect at times, but nothing worth complaining about.
