Two experiences here. First time in, stood at the counter for 5 minutes and wasn’t acknowledged — left. Second experience was yesterday, this Black Friday. Gander mountain followed me into the restroom, and then around the store. Then called the police and told them I was shoplifting. After emptying my pockets for the Horry county officer, I was shown to be innocent. They didn’t say they saw me steal anything, they simply suspected me because they heard jingling. They said they thought I took Ammo. Funny, as the jingling was from a keyring hanging from my belt loop with keys to my 4 retail stores, restaurant, two houses, two warehouses, and 5 vehicles worth over a quarter of a million dollars. I drove to gander mountain in a $ 100,000.00 car only to be treated like a criminal by their minimum wage staff. Pathetic. The manager on duty — knowing she was in the wrong would only say«Sorry» when I told her how insulted and embarrassed I was. This store is a second rate Bass Pro shop counterfeit, and is in need of an entirely new management team. You don’t treat paying customers like criminals or profile like that — especially with no reason at all! Jingling keys? I’ll never step foot in a gander mountain again. Contacting my lawyer Monday to discuss the ignorance I was subjected to. My honest advice, stay away — several other businesses with better customer service(as in they wont call the police on you for shopping with them) and much less expensive products. Seriously retail here was 20−30% higher than similar stores. Avoid at all costs.

The firearms prices are all over the map. Used Sig 226 one was $ 650 another $ 669 only difference was price. Both police trade-ins. After hearing a sales person tell someone the quality of Sig and Hi-Point were the same. One is made to last & costs $ 800 new the other is what used to be called a Saturday Night Special $ 199MSRP. Usually around $ 139. Ammo is $ 40Higher than Dicks, limited magazine selection along with holsters. Used 30⁄30 $ 349 new runs $ 30 more at Bass Pro. Looks more like a place going out of business, than into business. Wish Cabela’s would come in there stores are huge. Most are the size of all Ranger outlet. It goes to show Myrtle Beach is not a major place no matter how much they want to be. My wife is trying to transfer to an area less overtaxed & overrated. Anyone wanna by a house?

Well I went to this place and I wanted to buy something and they refused to sale to me. I was in there the other day and was going to help my partner out and get something but they told me I couldn’t. So I went in the next day to buy something for myself and they refused me. I felt very discriminated on and I told them that I will cancel my credit with them I mean it is stupid that just because my partner and I want something of the same that they would refuse me. I mean I am trying to better my life and protect my partner who I care and love and they act the way they did. I felt really like they discriminated on me because of what I wanted and all. The guys who worked there were rude to me and I just wanted to let other know. I wish I could give them no stars. Very unhappy.

My husband and I went here to see if they might have some camping or RV equipment. Outside appearance is similar to Bass Pro Shops, but once you open the doors, all you see is clothes in front of you, to the left and to the right. Uh oh. We went in toward the back wall, to see if they had equipment near the guns, but we found a table of used rifles and more clothes and sneakers. This is more like a mens clothing store that should be attached to a mall. It is nothing like my husband or I thought it would be. Don’t go with your F-150 looking to stock up on sporting gear, unless your idea of sporting gear is hunting clothes.

I’ve never been to a Gander Mountain before so I was a little taken aback by the layout at first. I was expecting something more along the lines of a Bass-Pro shop. Nope, not the case, here. Since I’ve already mentioned them, let’s just go ahead and use Bass Pro as a point of comparison. That is their primary competition, after all… Anyway, the store isn’t nearly as large as Bass Pro and everything is just below eye-level. You can easily see from one end of the store to the other. I had absolutely zero trouble finding my wife(in the shoes, of course) when it was time to roll. There’s a very clean, necessitist feel, here. Rather a sporting«boutique» of sorts. They’re clearly concentrating on the necessities. The entire center of the store is dedicated to outdoor/sports clothing, while the perimeter has a nice fishing section, arms department and so on. That said, they have an impressive selection of firearms. In fact, it’s gotta be the largest selection at the beach. The arms counters pretty much take up the entire back wall. Very well done and the employees were particularly helpful. It’s also interesting to note, they do trade-ins and have a used section as well. All in all, I like it here. If you need an enormo-dome selection of hunting gear, Bass pro certainly has more to choose from. Now, don’t get me wrong. When I say the selection on hunting/sporting goods is combed back here, I just mean they haven’t given up a dozen aisles to mag lights, beef jerky and beer coolers. It’s actually a nice option, not having to wade through all that stuff if you’re just looking for some good, named brand equipment and need to be on your way. –Neil Note: I gave this business 3 stars because while I was impressed with the arms selection, the prices weren’t any better than their competitors. In fact, a few items were a bit on the high side. Still a nice store and probably just getting dialed in.
