Madra Rua Irish Pub

Great brunch! Good prices on bloody Mary’s and mimosas. Chicken and waffles was excellent with just the right spices and flavor. Breakfast bowl was awesome and was the perfect thing to hit the spot.
We ate outside on patio — which was perfect. Unfortunately we sat too close to the smoking spot and came away slightly smoked.
Bar seems to be local hangout for soccer fans. Pretty rowdy crowd

This restaurant also has a location in Summerville. We’ve been to both a couple times. So far I love this bar’s bloody marys and irish coffees.
We tried to order the «formula 1» wings (see my Summerville review), but the waiter never heard of them. The consensus was that these wings were not as good as the other location.
If you like soccer, this is your go to place to watch the games.

Delicious Irish cusine, perfect ambience, great service. We recommend the corned beef and cabbage! One of our favorites!

The food here is amazing. Corned beef and cabbage is amazing. Prime Rob is perfection. The barstaff is always on point and attentive.

My wife and I came here on a busy Saturday night and ate at the bar. Bartender was friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic! My wife had fish and chips and I had corned beef and cabbage. We both loved it!

Yummmmmmy! The shepherds pie nachos were great. Service was quick and the environment is nice. Will definitely be back!

I love the atmosphere, and if I’m just going to get a drink, this would be a great spot. The food is mediocre. I haven’t tried brunch yet though, so I’ll be back for that.

I love Irish Pubs, and Madra Rua is a great one. This has become my go to place in Charleston. My mom-​in-​law moved to Hannahan and Park Circle isn’t far. Great pour of Guinness. Good pub food. Great ambiance! Erin Go Brah!

I love coming here for primier league matches. As well as American Outlaw meetups. This is a great Irish pub, with a great draft selection, that includes Strong bow on tap, and an even better menu option for Irish pub food like Shepard pie Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash. They do an excellent Sunday brunch that includes all kinds of Eggs Benidict.
They recently changed up their batter for the fish and chips and I wasn’t so much of a fan, but none the less this place is a great little haunt of a pub.

I came here based on a recommendation by a friend. Sadly my experience was far from enjoyable!
I called to place an order to go. Brad answered the telephone and placed me on hold for about 10 minutes. I figured he must have forgotten about me so I tried calling again. The phones went to the answering service three times. I waited 15 minutes and called again. This time Travis answered the phone and took my order.
When I arrived, I saw my food siting at the bar, but no one was there to help me. I waited about 15 minutes and finally asked one of the servers if he could assist me — I just wanted to pay and leave with my food. He said he could not help — he said to wait for the bartender. Finally, the bartender appeared. I had to get his attention to let him know my food was sitting right behind him and I simply wanted to pay so I could leave! It took him a while, but I finally managed to pay and get my to go order. Thank God I checked my order prior to driving away! They forgot to include my dessert. By this time I was pretty frustrated with the entire establishment! I went back inside and the bartender told me he would have to look into it! He disappeared for about 10 minutes and finally returned with my dessert.
I was hoping the food would make up for the terrible service I received. Wrong! It was horrible!
I ordered the fish and chips (sandwich), the chicken Caesar salad, the artichoke dip, and a cheesecake.
The fish was soggy and slimy! The bun was wet and the lettuce, brown! The chips served with with artichoke dip were store bought chips!
My entire experience, in a nutshell, was a disaster. Obviously I will never return!

Kind of dodgy part of town at night. Food and service is excellent. Great selection of domestic, non domestic and craft beer. I had the fish and chips and the wife had shepherds pie. Portions are more than generous.

This is our new favorite place! The food was SO good and authentic! The staff was fantastic, too. Our waiter even turned us on to some drinks we hadn’t had before. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Great brunch selections! The shrimp & grits are delicious. They also have a manmosa for the men! lol, the Bloody Mary mix is nice & spicy. It’s dark and you can seat yourself in little nooks. They have a beautiful patio area and lots of TVs for sports. Watching soccer here is my favorite! It was a wonderful experience for me!

No Lunch On Saturday. Only Brunch.
The place seemed a little less taken care of than other times we have visited.
We found out that there was no lunch after we ordered a beer, sat for a minute while we decided from their lunch menu what we wanted to eat. It was when someone wanted to order Fisherman’s Stew, we were told, oh yeah, we don’t serve lunch on Saturday anymore.
Then why did you give me a lunch menu, and then not mention this change until I ordered. Then it was a scramble, to find something to order off the brunch menu.
We had already had breakfast. I have never been impressed with their brunch.

This place definitely feels like an Irish Pub when you walk in, which is awesome. The food is delicious. I often have a hard time deciding between the Fishermans Pie or Fish and Chips. The tarter sauce is on point. Wide selection of beer and mixed drinks.

We came in on a Sunday morning @ 11 am after church with the whole family. Apparently it was considered brunch time. Although my entire family was pleased with it. I always ready for a meaty lunch especially from an Irish Pub.
Needless to say they insist you eat what is on the brunch menu (how hard is it to make a burger since we are cooking steaks already) which runs all the way through 3 pm! I had steak (you can cook a steak but not a burger, really?!) and eggs instead. Decent but
nothing too brag about. Menu price was decent. Again, nothing to brag about in the portion and considered brunch time is idiotic — 3 stars. No, I am never a fan of breakfast. Doubt I would ever come back.

Very cool atmosphere, little private booths tucked into corners with dark, rich woods and stained glass. They also have tvs around the bar for the sports-​centric patron. We went just to eat and I was impressed. They ahve a lot of traditional irish fare and some americanised food as well. I had fish and chips which was great except I forgot to ask for malt vinegar, which they surely have. A friend ordered the shepards pie and it looked life changing. As one might expect the beer and spirit selection is good and I will not complain today about prices.

Yum… Just had lunch here for the first time and seriously thinking about going out and sitting in my car until dinner!
I had one of the Dailey specials which was a queso burger.
The venue is just what you would expect right down to the Irish music.
The staff was very friendly and very attentive.

We stayed away from this place for the past few years because Unilocal stated they were not kid friendly and when we are out without the littles we usually go fine dining. WELL, I’m a bit pissed off because we’ve been missing out. Not only are they kid friendly (as evident by their KIDS menu) but the food/​beer menu is great! We’ve been twice in the past two weeks (once for lunch and another time for Sunday brunch) and each time the staff were ridiculously friendly. Overall great food for families and singles alike.

See the prior review. This place is amazing and my new favorite now that I live in this area. Late hours are just another added bonus.
