It’s not often that I rate a business 5-stars, but it’s even LESS often that I walk in a business a stranger and leave feeling like a ‘regular’. Not often that I leave a business thinking, «Now THAT’s the way to operate a business!» And even less often, looking towards when my next visit might occur. RD Custom Guns is a full-service operation, located 1mile North of the 256 interchange on Hwy 59; carrying a ‘full’ if not extensive array of firearms and firearm accessories. Traditional, state-of-the-art, semi-auto, revolvers, gorgeous custom ARs, and Class III items are offered or facilitated. I visited in order to check out my options regarding a carry system for a modern firearm, carried in the ‘old school’ manner. There were no ‘smirks, comments, or rolling eyes’ — just a couple of questions, and several options that met my needs! The system was installed while I waited. There are fewer places on Earth better than a down-home, friendly, knowledgeable, family-oriented gun shop… and NONE better than R&D. They are open M-F 8 – 6 Saturday 10 – 4 There’s good parking for vehicles, or fullsized with trailers.

Went to RD’s recently to have swivel bolts installed on a 22 I bought. The tech did a great job and did it while I waited. The price was surprisingly inexpensive. I highly recommend RD’s for repairs and installation work. I asked how much an old, dusty, leather, American made rifle case was and the owner gave it to me for free. I cleaned it up and use it for my 30⁄30. I’ll be back…

It’s a smaller shop in terms of fire arms they have readily available. They do custom work, though, so the sky’s really the limit. Everyone here seemed friendly and were more than happy to show us things. No snobby attitude was evident. They have a smaller selection of accessories and the obligatory ammo. I thought they were short on revolvers, but I like them and it seems most folks out there don’t. This place has odd hours, generally being closed on weekends, which makes it hard for out of town folks to drop by, but I guess they’re really into business with the locals. Given their location, I bet they keep themselves busy.
