All around fantastic restaurant. We tried several different paninis along with the corn Rosemary soup and it was all delicious! Their broccoli slaw is also to die for. For dessert I got the cheesecake tart — oh my gosh, it was so good! I can’t wait to come back

I’ve been in Nacogdoches for quite some time and never knew about this hidden gem until recently. I went here for lunch with a friend and both of our orders were fresh, hot, and delicious. The only recommendation I would have is to make the portions just a tad bit larger. I didn’t get to try their baked goods, but they looked amazing and will get some during my next visit. It is decorated very cute and is perfect for downtown.

Not as impressive as the locals make it out to be. I had tomato soup, thumbs up, and I liked it. But I had their quiche. Thumbs down. I am a big fan of a good, hearty quiche, and this was wet and tiny. It felt like a sample, not half a meal! Honestly with the flavorless, wet texture I wouldn’t have ate a larger portion. What made them not get a lower rating… The cute environment and the dessert. Again, tiny portions compared to other places with these prices, but very yummy.(Also the staff was not knowledgeable at all about the menu. Anytime I had a question it was passed along the café like a game of telephone. This happened 3 times, by the time it passed through 2 or 3 waitresses and got to the kitchen, I would finally get an answer.)

Stopped here for lunch while exploring downtown Nacodogches. It was Valentine’s Day and the place was full. We were seated at a table near the pastry display so we had much time to think about(and save room for) desert. We ordered a yummy salad of mixed greens with blue cheese, apples, chicken and a fantastic vinaigrette. Also split a slice of crab quiche and an avocado BLT(get the broccoli slaw, people) while sipping unsweetened apricot peach iced tea. All were delicious! But then came the best part — sharing a slice of a dense caramel pecan coconut pie and a square of cheesecake coated in salted caramel. Bottom line: Food was great! $ 40 plus tip was a bit much to spend on lunch but I’m pretty sure we would do it all over again.

I thought the food was great, portion could have been a little bigger. We tried the tuscan panini and the ham and gouda quiche both were superb ! I would definitely stop in again.

I read over the reviews and I thought I’d make my own. I agree that the staff could be friendlier, but they weren’t the worst I’ve ever experienced. My friend and I sat outside, and it was really nice to watch the downtown stroll on by. What I immediately noticed was they are SUPER proud of their food. I personally ordered the salad trio with egg, classic chicken, and bombay salads. I got the broccoli slaw and the rosemary corn chowder as sides. While I enjoyed everything on my plate, what I was disappointed about was that this was nearly a $ 10-ish meal if I remember correctly and the portions were tiny. Granted I have weight loss surgery and it did still fill me up, I was expecting more for how much we paid. My friend ordered a panini and said the temperature wasn’t consistent throughout. The desserts looked great, but we left to make a class at the rec center that day and didn’t make it back in time. I enjoyed the food, but I honestly expected bigger portions considering the price. And as far as the salad trio goes, I honestly don’t think it really costs that much to make some egg, and 2 different chicken salads. I’ll go again, don’t get me wrong, but they need to do some better budgeting and try and cut back on food costs on their end.

Went for lunch and it was fairly busy. The staff were friendly. You know you’re in trouble, though, when you look around and folks don’t have their food and they aren’t talking and the thousand mile stare going. We waited 45 minutes for our meals. Balsamic vinaigrette and salad was tiny but good. Quiche was small and mediocre. The tomato basil soup was watery and lacked flavor. Probably won’t go back for lunch but would like to try the baked items that looked delicious.

Ordered a birthday cake for pick-up. Delish! White cake with strawberry filling and whipped cream icing was a big hit with party guests. Will order again when I’m in town.

Note that in spite of the name«Bakery Café», Shelly’s does not open for breakfast. Their opening hours are just 10 – 2. We stopped here on a trip from Houston to MO based on Unilocal reviews, hoping to get breakfast. We arrived about 9:30AM. We saw workers inside, but the door was locked. We called the number on their listing and they said they would open the door and let us in. Since we were the only ones there, the service was wonderful, We each had an artichoke quiche(which was very fluffy and light), and we split a fabulous éclair. Coffee was delicious. Our visit was a delightful pause during our journey. Shelly’s is somewhat upscale for a small town like Nacogdoches, and has linen table cloths, and very nice dishes and silverware. Prices were also a little upscale, costing about $ 20 for this light brunch for two.,

The little lady stopped here for lunch a couple of years ago, so when we were feeling the hunger pangs during a trip from Houston to Missouri, we took a break in Nacodoches at Shelley’s. We had a lunch that, while not«light,» wasn’t terribly heavy, either. I had a pork sandwich that was delicious: it was fresh, tasty, moist, and a pleasure to eat. The small salad that came with the meal had a pleasant vinaigrette dressing that was a nice complement to the sandwich. Again, it wasn’t a distraction from the main attraction; in fact, it complemented the porky sandwich. The staff here seemed very genuine, friendly, and helpful. The servers were all pleasant young women who were eager to help us enjoy the best of Shelley’s menu on that November’s day. I would absolutely return to this restaurant if I ever passed through Nacodoches, TX again.

This review is solely on the customer service, not the food since we weren’t even given the chance to taste the food. My fiancé was in town from Dallas and we were trying to figure out where to have brunch, since this café had such wonderful reviews on here we decided to try it out. We walked in and were welcomed by blank stares from the four«waitresses» standing at the counter. They asked if they could help us with anything and we said we had never been there so we looked over their menu. When we tried to order they said they didn’t start serving lunch until 11am, it was 10:45! We could have waited 15min! They never even offered to seat us when there were clearly other people seated and they had about 8 open tables. One of the girls asked to take our name and number and said«y’all can go walk around somewhere and we’ll reserve a table for you and call you when we start serving lunch.» Well we did and never got a call back from them. I am beyond annoyed, if there was anything less than one star that’s what they would get.

OMG! I was sooooo happy to see that this place had made it too! I have been craving their lemon squares for five years. They were just as good as I remember and not to mention I found a new baked good to crave for the next five. They have shortbread with or without chocolate dip that are out of this world. This place is off the beaten path of downtown Nacogdoches.

Cute, quaint, and charming place right in the middle of downtown Nac. It is one of those holes in the wall that truly amaze you. It has a small patio which lets you feel part of the happenings in this small town. They have great pistachio cannolis as well as paninis, salads, and pastries. This is the place where my boyfriend asked me to be his girlfriend, so it holds a dear place in my heart. Great place for a classy lunch date!

Amen to all the positive things others are saying in Unilocal about this place. We couldn’t believe that lunch could be this good in Nacogdoches. Indeed, Shelley’s would be considered a first-class eating venue around where we live, which is chocablock with excellent restaurants. Worthy service, too, and eminently affordable, although guys may find the atmospherics somewhat on the chick side. If you’re a serious foodie, Shelley’s is «it» in and around Nacogdoches for lunch, while Pine Creek’s «Creekside Café» is hands-down the best for dinner, with a Parisian chef doing the honors Friday and Saturday evenings. All are BYOs.

Went here on a balmy day in August with my fiancé. It was a lunch date, so no big. or so I thought. B/c that’s when we decided to find Shelley’s. I do say ‘find’. It is just off main street down a little one way corridor surrounded by little one story shops. Parking across the street in a lot. Its not exactly hard, it just isn’t precisely easy either. At any rate, we were seated outside on the balmy day. Enjoyed our sandwich and salad, respectively. And also took in a short 3 and a half minute rain shower. It was lovely.

Shelley’s is incredible. It’s a real hidden treat in Nacogdoches. The bakery is great, it’s like a little european bakery with incredible eclairs. I love the lunches though. The sandwiches are so creative. The broccoli slaw is so refreshing on a summer day. I need to go more often.

Blink and you’ll miss it. Shelleys is in the perfect, almost hidden spot in downtown Nac– a charming location for a charming café. I’ve enjoyed some pastries, and while delicious, the lunch is why I want to keep going back. The panini menu is to die for, and displays a variety I haven’t seen in paninis since I traveled to Montréal. Most recently I had to pull an «eeny meeney miney moe» to decide on which panini to spoil my digestive system with– it was between«Uptown»(artichokes, basil pesto, roasted red peppers, olives, and goat cheese) or «Turkish Inspired»(pulled pork, goat cheese, mayo and apricot chutney). Both sounded AMAZING, but I went with the Turkish Inspired. Goddamn, that was delicious. Presented on a plate with my cup of soup and my brocoli slaw(yes, you get your choice of TWO sides), and some fruit slice garnish. Simply stunning. I felt classy, and my tastebuds were overwhelmed with awesomesauce. Thanks Shelley!
