The food and service was good, but a little over priced for what it was and the portion size. It’s the type or restaurant that you feel completely neutral about and will forget about.

Food was good. Service was good. Waiter was good. Atmosphere was good and Interior was good. But pricing of some of the foods did not add up correctly. My fish and chips dish was so small it wasn’t worth the $ 14.99 as advertised. It was more of a lunch plate than a dinner plate. Seriously? Something more like I could get over at Food Lion for almost ¾th less. It not a bad place to go to. I would recommend it because of what I said in the first paragraph but a little change in the prices could give them a wholly of customers from the economic standpoint of supply and demand.

Great restaurant. Had lunch today. Had crab corn chowder. Just the right amount of crab. Clean and great food. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located on Beach Road between 12 and 13MP.

This is a great place! Go there! We went as a family of 11 and they accommodated us. They have great service. I had broiled seafood. Yum. But then, the waitress brought out a crab cake sandwich. With a fried green tomato on top. Incredible. I’m going back and ordering it next spring.

We just went there for breakfast and it was good! Nothing exceptional but good! I would go back again when in Nags Head. We got there as soon as they opened on Sunday and had the whole place to ourselves. It was a nice atmosphere and clean. The waitress was very nice and accommodating to us and our toddler.

I loved this place! We went on a Saturday morning in September for breakfast. While other places were packed, we parked and were seated easily here. Coffee came fast, the waitress was attentive. Our waters & coffees were offered refills no less than 3 times in an hour. I got the crab omelette which was AWESOME! Asked for Old Bay which got me a slightly weird look but it was delicious. Tons of back fin crabmeat. Kids got pancakes & eggs. Everyone left full and happy.

Purely based on the quantity of food in the Crab fettuccini, I have to rate this a one star. We got carry out and to my surprise I open the metal container and it is 1⁄3 of the way full. A joke for $ 24.00.

Where do I begin, we only went here because the other 4 places we wanted to eat at were long waits. Let me just say I wish we had waited instead of eating here. The waitress was nice but didn’t know what he hell she was doing. She forgot many things and didn’t make us feel comfortable. The atmosphere is very weird and there was a strange woman at the front who was constantly walking around he dining room looking at people. I’m not sure if she is told to do that but t makes customers very uncomfortable. I made he mistake of getting a steak which I took one bite of and spit it out. My dad will eat anything even if it taste terrible and decided he would eat mine considering I couldn’t eat one more bite. The next day my dad was sick and throwing up and got food poisoning. I hate to rip so hard on a restaurant but this place sucks all around.

The food here was really awesome, a solid 4 stars. Unfortunately, the service was zero stars. We came here on a Thursday night, and were pretty tired/thirsty/hungry after walking over all the dunes at Jockey’s Ridge to watch the sunset. Since I found this place, and it looked super cute, I felt a little bit of pressure for it to be good! We were seated immediately and it took a good 10 minutes before a waitress came to our table. Now, I wasn’t timing it, but when you’re tired/thirsty/hungry and no waitress will come to your table, it feels like forevvvvvvver. But it was at LEAST10 minutes. And it’s not like this is a huge restaurant… certainly under 20 tables. I asked if they have a drinks menu… the waitress said, «I wish!» I guess they don’t want people to drink there! I asked for a sauvignon blanc and my husband got a martini(they did not have martini glasses, but that is no big deal, as long as it tastes good). The fried green tomatoes where amazing, probably the best I’ve ever had. When our entrees came out, we needed new silverware, which I told the waitress when she brought the food. Had to wait over 5 minutes for that, finally got it after I was able to catch her eye again. 5 minutes staring at your food is torture! I got the fried chicken and it was really good. I felt it could have used a few more spices, but other than that, it was cooked perfectly. So again, the food here was really good. I don’t know WHY the service is such a mess. I noticed almost all the other tables were having the same problem(not being able to get a waitress to come to their table). The owners need to 1.) Print a gosh darn drinks menu. People are on vacation and they want to drink! and 2.) Train their waitstaff with some service BASICS. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know that I am very, very, lenient with service but dinner here was frustrating(yet yummy)!

Just stopped for breakfast. It was pretty bland, cold«Hash browns», forgot my toast, no sweet tea, etc. Sysco truck unloading outside so that explains the cafeteria food quality. maybe lunch and dinner would be better but won’t be trying it.

It’s mid-August and I stopped in Old Nags Head Café for breakfast. I’ll summarize the review this way– food is decent, service is poor. It’s not worth enduring for the food. I was seated relatively fast, but hostess/waitress that seated me did not give me a menu. After a few minutes of waiting to be waited on, I got up and helped myself to a menu. After roughly 10 minutes a waitress came up and said«I’m not your waitress but I’ll take a drink order for you until your waitress waits on you.» Soon thereafter, actual waitress comes and takes order. She knows I’ve been waiting awhile so she asked me if I know what I want to order. I order an omelet. Coffee and Bloody Mary(spicy) arrive soon after, however, no water, no offer for another drink after last was finished. 30 minutes later, omelet arrives. Then I realize there is no silverware. I hail down a waitress for silverware. She leaves promising to bring silverware but doesn’t. Five minutes later I hail down my waitress to bring silverware. She feels bad and then brings right away. But omelet has been sitting for at least five minutes after waiting 30 for it. The place was not that crowded. From the looks on faces of other diners(and no plates), I can tell this is not a unique situation. I give the place two stars because the Cajun omelet was good though very lite on the sausage portion. Good luck with service if you choose to try this place. Owner/management– I hope your reading to learn how to improve customer experience.

Nice place, no frills, nothing over the top but fresh made. Our daughter who is very picky loved the pizza and I must say they should look into offer this on a normal menu. Its really good and has a taste that is on another level. Here’s a secert, order the fried pickles, they are worth getting yelled at by your doctor. The burger was very good and tasty. My wife’s chicken sandwich was good. Super fast service even at 1pm. Well made food and fast service.

Awesome spot to avoid the typical outer banks crowd. Appeared to be mostly locals and the menu selections were great. Not too pricey considering it was right off the main strip. Shrimp and grits were amazing as was every other dish my table got. Can’t go wrong here after a long day at the beach! Stellar crab cakes as well.

We had a late dinner around 7:30 pm on a Sunday night. Other places had an hour or more wait, but we walked right in, immediately seated at a table for three. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and my daughter said it was one of the best she has ever had, tons of crab and very little filler. I had the hamburger, which was cooked well — it was good. The fries were fresh and hot. We ordered the fried chicken, which included four fresh pieces on the bone and two sides. The girls enjoyed the mac and cheese. The spoon bread was fantastic, so much so that we ordered some to take home. The peanut butter pie and lemon cheesecake both got a thumbs up from the teenage girls. The room was clean and quaint, and the service was good. Good experience and will return in the future

We’ve been eating here for over 10 years. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The seafood is fresh and cooked«light». We always get a few orders of fried green tomatoes to start things off. This year I had the crab cakes– awesome, no fillers, lump crabmeat. You won’t be sorry you came.

What excellent customer service and food. Our waitress could see we were taking turns eating and holding our 1 year old. She came over and spoke to him, held him a while and told us about her family. It was just an overall great experience. We had fried pickles, chicken quesadillas and pork bbq sandwich, all were excellent.

Every other place had a couple hour wait on Friday 7⁄3 We walked in here with 5 people and sat right down. We were so glad. The sourdough bread was amazing with my shrimp and grits. The kids pizza had the most amazing dough. The best part was desert, salted caramel cheesecake that melted in our mouths. Will come here many times again.

They reserved a table for 12 for our family for lunch. Called from the dunes, just a mile away. So friendly, and it is a hidden gem off the highway. Service was incredible. Food to match. One of the best burgers I’ve had. And I’ve had quite a few! Wings are unique — fried with batter. Different but excellent. Others had the grilled fish sandwich with wasabi. They loved it. Highly recommended for lunch. Couple good brews on tap and PBR for $ 2.50.

Loved the Old Nags Head Café! We had a delisous dinner there one night with mahi mahi and coconut shrimp! and delicious cocktails! Then we had breakfast here one morning as well and it was delicious also!
