Our first time to the Outerbanks and our first time hiring a charter to fish has been a remarkable experience! I first have to commend Rock Solid Fishing and Samantha on their customer service! I had several conversations with her about times and weather and in each conversation she was attentive, my questions were answered and I felt reassured we were going to have a great trip. On the evening before the trip I received a call from Captain Amanda. She reviewed the details of our trip and let us know that her previous charters have been catching a lot of fish, and although there was a very good chance we would be taking fish home most fish were undersized. Well, that fit in to our plans. On the day of our trip Captain Amanda delivered as promised! We caught a lot of fish and took some home to cook. The captain was engaging, interacted well with the kids and hooked in to several fish herself which she passed on to the kids to bring in! Overall we had a great experience and when we return to OBX we will be sure to reserve a trip with Rock Solid Fishing and Captain Amanda. Because my kids had such a great experience on their first trip we will probably look to take a longer trip and maybe get a little more adventurous!

We booked a last minute trip with Captain Aaron Kelly for the day after Christmas. There had not been good fishing reports but we decided to go anyway and are so glad that we did. Captain Aaron is so friendly and down to earth. He took us out to a lot of neat fishing spots in hopes of having some good luck with the fish. We did not end up catching a lot(one tautog, a couple croaker and way too many shark!) but we still had a blast. We will definitely be back to fish with Captain Aaron again!

These folks are the best! This is the first time we’ve ever gone fishing on a charter and didn’t know what to expect, but we had a truly great time. It could not have been a more perfect day. Captain Amanda was all smiles, smart, helpful, instructional and knows how to handle a fishing boat. We moved to different locations, caught many different species of fish. But the Grand Bonus of the day was finding ourselves in the midst of a pod of playful dolphins that lasted about 20 minutes — Capt Amanda spotted them and changed course so we could get a close up experience with these beautiful animals. Also, the boat Carolina Blue was very clean, the fishing gear is quality, good bait and lures. We caught trout, flounder, black bass, one little croaker(awwww) which we let go, and 18 bluefish.(BTW, bluefish is very good eating, just don’t have tartar sauce on the side, it conflicts with the flavor.) Can’t wait to do this again! See you in the Spring, Rock Solid Fishing!
