I’m a little worried about this place because they apparently feel it’s necessary to have a guy stand out front and snag people off the street. That annoyance aside, I was happy with the moussaka and really happy with the lima bean side which turned out to be large tender delicious butter beans in a good tomato-y broth base with a mix of other chopped vegetables. It should have been served in a bowl rather than a flat plate, but no complaints about the flavors. In fact, plating /presentation was one of the weaker aspects of our meal, but I know, since my mouth is watering as I write this, that I’ll be back.

Even though the moussaka lunch entrée is $ 14 now, it is some of the best moussaka I’ve ever had! Fresh, hearty, and delicioso! Tasso’s has a lunch buffet 7 days a week for $ 9.95 too, which is a new addition to the menu since the last time I stopped in.

The lamb here is really, really good. So is the moussaka. Their Sunday brunch is also great, it’s like $ 10 for amazing, unique food. The service here is always great, the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I also love the atmosphere, great for a date or for a girls dinner. It isn’t the most happening place… so I hope it stays in business!

Good restaurant. Friendly people. A little $pricey$ but not too bad considering its DT Naperville. Was my first time trying Greek food. Sampled various dishes. Would go back.

My associate and I stopped here for lunch last week. She is a Naperville resident but had not tried Tasso’s yet so we took the plunge. After looking at the buffet that was available(not a chance in hell either of us was going near that) we set our sights on the menu. We were going to pick an entrée each but after looking at the variety of hot and cold appetizers we elected to shot gun the table with a variety of those in lieu of the more traditional order items. My associate is a foodie like me so we had fun choosing the variety. We were generally pleased. The hummus was fantastic with the flat bread, and the saganaki stood out also. I could not get enough of the sausage and red peppers but the peppers were cut too small… bigger strips, while probably less traditional, would have been tastier. The calamari was just OK. I would not advise this order method unless you are willing to go north of $ 50.00 for lunch for two but it was a nice way to sample the restaurant for a possible future visit. All in all… interesting, not fantastic, a little pricey for the quality… but worth a shot.

Food is good, but I like the taste of Greek Islands/Parthenon better. I go here for sit down Mediterranean food, and to Nicky’s Red Hots for fast food. All in all, I like the roasted chicken(order 30 min in advance), and the appetizers(saganaki, dolmades, keftedes) are good too. Just good, but you can obviously do better elsewhere. For downtown Naperville, I won’t complain.

I’ve always passed Tassos in downtown Naperville, but never tried it. I wanted to try something new. I had the lamb, which was HUGE. I felt like I was eating for days afterwards. It was flavorful and tasty, but I wish that they had gone with a smaller portion higher quality piece. It was so big that it was overkill. I noticed that some of the other dishes were smaller and more crafted, so it might have just been the lamb. However, now that I think about it the calamari appetizer was huge too. It was a huge portion for two people and the pieces were huge as well. Crispy on the outside and tasty, but huge and a little chewy. It reminded me a bit of calmari steak I had in South Carolina. I thought that their Greek god/goddess cocktails were cute. Since I’m a sucker for all things Greek mythology I tried the Poseidon one and it was very potent. We had a reservation which was ready when we arrived. The restaurant was full, but not overly crowded. It did not feel over crowded or too loud, like I have noticed in some downtown Naperville restaurants. Our server was a little overly suave, but helpful and brought our order out on time. To sum it up, I liked the atmosphere but I wish they would focus the quality of the food rather than serving huge portions. I would go back to try some of the different dishes.

I’m not gonna lie, I was a little hesitant on trying Tasso’s based on the varying reviews on Unilocal. However, when I went there(for an early dinner on a Monday night) I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very attentive, although there was only one other table occupied than ours. But nevertheless, he did a good job checking on us and the wait time on our food was just fine. I thought the presentation of our meals were very nice. And the actually food was on par with the plating. I had the chicken skewers with veggies and onions. There was the good kind of char on the food and the chicken was very juicy! For the side dish, I chose the rice pilaf. It was light, fluffy, and also packed a good amount of flavor. My friend had the salad and asked for extra olives. They were happy to oblige and did so without charge! She too enjoyed her meal. So, to sum it up… good food, good service, and yup, I’d go here again!

Don’t go there! If you have Groupon, just order what is worth or return it. My friends make laugh at me what a bad place I had chosen… Food was really, really bad. Oven roasted potatoes were old and reheated. Everything else was also very bad. My friend couldn’t even eat his dish… We paid $ 120 + $ 60 groupon(20% tip added automatically) and left hungry and unhappy.

Came here for the first time this past Saturday for an early dinner(arrived at 5:00 pm) and were seated immediately. I was in jeans and a polo, my wife was in jeans and a sweater, and our 3-year old was in jeans and a Thomas the Tank Engine t-shirt(she likes her trains), and we fit in just right with the rest of the diners. Not sure where people get the idea that this place is «gourmet» or «upscale,» maybe they spend too much time dining at Chili’s and TGI Fridays so anything above that level is immediately haute cuisine. This place is definitely not your typical Greek diner, but then again, I don’t think it’s trying to be something it’s not either. It’s a comfortable, clean, nicely appointed place that I will definitely be coming back to. The food was a tad on the pricier side of things, this is downtown Naperville after all, but really, the only thing that made me do a double take were the prices on the kid’s menu. Every item was $ 7, including the chicken fingers and fries(which, by the way, were mighty tasty). My wife and I split the hummus, dolmades, and the gyros plate. Everything was very good, and the gyros plate was piled with enough meat to satisfy her, with enough left over to stuff me. All that, plus the chicken fingers, a diet coke, and the crusty bread basket(which was complimentary) came out to $ 45 including tax. We came here on a Groupon, and received absolutely no attitude, contrary to what another review here claims. There was also a table within earshot of us that used a Groupon, and they received the same friendly reception. The service overall was very friendly, the food was very good, and we will definitely be back.

Tassos in Naperville aims to be a gourmet, upscale Greek restaurant. The food is average quality and very expensive. Service and décor are somewhat above average, both definitely providing a high-end dining experience. The menu is online. As with any restaurant, there are several daily specials offered as well. I ordered the exohiko and horta. Our table also ordered horiatiki, taramasalata, loukaniko and saganaki. All of the appetizers were average, as was the salad and my exohiko. The horta was pretty good, however. If you go to Tassos, the horta is one side dish that I can recommend. The rest of our table was fairly happy with their entrees. Perhaps it was just my bad luck, but most of what I tasted at Tassos was of unremarkable quality. Notably, the bread and olive oil were also somewhat average. Nobody ordered dessert, so I can’t comment on dessert. Tassos has a wine list. None of us ordered wine, but an appreciator of wine can view the wine list himself online, and evaluate its appeal. The service was very good, appropriate for a high-end restaurant. The décor is also pretty good. Tassos is in a small garden apartment type space, so the decorators faced quite a challenge transforming the space into a luxury restaurant. They did fairly well. The space is small, but tables are distributed at just the right density to make it comfortable for diners. White tablecloths, of course. There is a small, appealing al fresco area behind the kitchen. It faces the parking garage, but it is somewhat enclosed by a fence, which keeps ones focus within the patio area. What would be the alley, where the patio is located, has been blocked off for pedestrians only. The overall effect is that al fresco diners have very little ambient traffic noise to contend with. It is a very nice place to have an outdoor meal. In Greece, and the Greek Islands, most restaurants have outdoor seating, so eating on the patio enhances the Greek feeling of the meal. Tassos is a Greek restaurant with average food, high prices, good service and nice décor.

The worst, service by these a**holes, of any place I’ve been to! The manager is a jerk! Most overpriced, sub standard food, and rude and arrogant people I’ve seen in the area. These people make the jerk at Pitaville look like a snowhite! As for me, I would stay hungry then visiting this place ever! It took them forever to get the food, when the whole place was empty and $ 6 for the smallest order of side of fries??? I tried using a Groupon and they showed so much attitude and tried charging me 18% gratuity for a party of 2, as they said they could do anything because we had a discount voucher! What a jerk! A suggestion, go to a place like Basils, instead of the worst service and most overpriced food at this one!

I’ve been to this place 3 times now and am still not impressed for the amount you have to pay. Good food, not great. Ok service, not exceptional. Don’t waste your money coming here for dinner, you’re better off getting lunch here.

Yum! Having moved to the South where good Greek food is not easily had, I was pleased we decided to lunch here on a recent Sunday. The look from the outside was casual sandwich shop, but once inside, the atmosphere was more Greek terrace with skylights and a welcoming space. The menu had plenty of offerings. We started with the Poikilia– a trio of Greek dips: Taramosalda(fish roe– very light and tasty– not«fishy» at all!), Melitzmusolada(sp?- a very tasty eggplant dip), Tzakiki(the yogurt cucumber dip– WAY beyond the average!) and hummus(pretty standard). We also ordered the saganaki– Opa! I ordered the Greek salad with side gyro meat. Whoa! Enough meat to share with 3 people! We shared a side of green beans for the table, and fries. The green beans were OMG I’m over the moon for these! The waitress(very nice!) told me the recipe: dill, tomato and onion stewed with the beans– so simple I will try this at home. If you are in Naperville and looking for fresh Greek fare, please do stop in. Lovely!

I’m a big fan of trusty old gyro… so today I got the lunch special for under $ 8.00 I got a half gyro pita, salad, 1 potato, dolmade and dinner roll. Very generous portion for the price and the food was ready as promised for the take-out order. I do recommend asking for the salad dressing on the side because they put my gyro pita in the same container as the salad causing the pita bread to be soaked in Greek salad dressing and soggy. Also there was no feta cheese in the side Greek salad. There was a lot of gyro meat in the pita, but there wasn’t anything else like the standard tomato and onion like the menu list. At least they did include a side of tzatziki sauce. If you order take out you just have to break it down what ingredients you want and how you want it packed until they are able to figure this out themselves.

This place has a clean and pretty atmosphere. My friend and I ordered the tzatziki appetizer, and it only came with one pita sliced up. We ran out and had to flag down our waiter(yes, flag= service issue) to ask if he could bring out more. He brought us one more pita, and we again ran out, but didn’t have the energy to ask again. The moussaka was very greasy, both the veggie and meat kinds. I wasn’t a fan of the eggy topping, either. Overall, an average place that’ll work in Greek pinch if I can’t make it to Oak Brook…

We started with a Taramosalata appetizer that was very good but a bit skimpy on the pitas which were not really necessary with the good bread provided. I had the gyros plate with spinach cooked in olive oil and garlic which was very good. Again the amount of gyros meat and the number of pitas provided was out of sync. They provided just very small pieces of pita and a large amount of gyros meat. My wife had the Dolmades and a Greek salad(elliniki) which were both outstanding. We had some Greek Cabernet that was very good. Our waitress was excellent and the atmosphere was good. Will go back.

I found Tasso’s to be a good place for a weekday Greek lunch. It’s conveniently located at the site of the old Washington Square restaurant in the heart of downtown Naperville. I had the pastitios for $ 7.95(good deal and delicious) and some colleagues had chicken pita sandwich and the gyros plate(also good reviews). Dining room is comfortable and roomy with some Greek décor. Service was attentive. Will probably be back. If you park in the 2-story garage just east of Washington street, and use the side exit, it will lead you straight into the back entrance of Tasso’s. This is your handy tip for bad weather or if you’re lazy.

Was dying to try this place, since it seemed like it took forever to open. It’s a wonderful Greek bistro with great wine list and a very good fresh menu. I wish it would be a little heavier on the lamb dishes, but it’s good on seafood. We ordered the skordalia as an appetizer. The bread was delish and they provided us a bit of capenade as a sort of amouse bouche or freebie. Delicious. I had the octopus appetizer as my entrée, and it was served with a light-handed, delicious balsamic reduction. I also ordered a side of greek potatoes to help accompany this delish dish. The significant other unit had the lamb and boy was it on the bone, a huge bone. It was fork tender and melt in your mouth good. He ordered a side of asparagus with his lamb, and about 4 stalks came out on a square dish. It’s a little disparaging when you order a side and only four stalks come out. The authentic Greek dessert list is comprehensive. It’s in the medium to high price range. A great Greek place to hold you over if you can’t make it to Lombard’s Greek Islands or Greek Town in downtown Chicago.

I was so excited when I heard that an authentic Greek restaurant was coming to Naperville; so I was very happy when I had the opportunity to try this place. We went on a Saturday night without a reservation and it was packed. There was a 30 minute wait, which is pretty reasonable for downtown Naperville on Saturday night. I did notice that when you walk in that there really is no hostess stand or area where it is comfortable to wait. We were soon directed to wait in the bar area by the hostess who just kind of wanders the restaurant as if she is looking for somewhere to stand. There really isn’t enough room in the bar to wait, especially on a busy night. You find yourself right in the path of the servers who are walking through the bar to get back and forth to the kitchen. Once we were seated, our waiter promptly brought us water and took our orders. I went with the saganaki appetizer and my friend had the soup. Both were excellent, though we had to ask our waiter and wait quite a bit for him to bring bread to our table. I had a Greek salad with Chicken which was also very good. The waiter didn’t mind splitting our checks when we were ready to pay, though he had a little trouble remembering what we had ordered or how to split it. Overall a great place that I will go back to. I think they are still relatively new and working out some of the kinks, but that is true with any new restaurant and the couple of slip ups that this place had were quickly remedied by their friendly waitstaff.
