I went on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday party. The room with the bar feels like it should be full of cigarette smoke. It’s kind of like walking into a time machine. This was amplified by the fact that they had an 80’s cover band playing(and they were good)! The service was great. One woman was running all over the room and somehow managed to keep everything straight. We had a huge group, about 30 people. The people watching is not a joke. I couldn’t believe it, certainly entertaining. I’d give the food a 4⁄10. The bar was great, and so was the service. We have ordered from here a few times because they deliver, which is awesome. Bathrooms are something out of 8 Mile.

This place has something but it’s not what I’m looking for. My wife likes Chinese food while I don’t. I should say I like a good genetal tso chicken for about 30 minutes until I feel a general malaise and the msg head ache kicks in. This is what I ordered tonight. It did not exceed my expectations. My wife liked her crab Rangoon. There is a scene here in the lounge, so there’s something going on. The restaurant is a little dingy. I wouldn’t go as far as to say dirty; just a little sticky like a thin coat of sweet and sour everywhere.

The food is still hit or miss here. They deliver so there’s that. And I somehow trust the food here over other options(that deliver) in Nashua. Maybe because everyone in my family goes here and has never gotten food poisoning? Still hate it, but love it at the same time. I don’t know, it’s Americanized Chinese…

Disgusting. Clientele is lacking. Food is gross. Beyond gross. Needs a serious cleaning. And renovating. Or just taken down. That bad.

Hit the Haluwa on a Saturday night — it was busy and it took a loooong time to get a drink. But when I did, the Mai Tai was just ok. But let me tell you… That cover band — Street Legal– rocked!!! Lots of people dancing! Great set list. Some sweet ladies undulating to the beat. One red head was whipping her hair around like some 80’s metal vamp!!! And another lovely polish chick spanked her own bottom a couple times, I think. SWEET! Good times! 3-stars for the band and the rockin chicks!!! Would definitely hit that place after 9:00pm on those Street Legal band nights!

You can’t go wrong with this place. The food is the best in Nashua for Chinese, and the drinks are potent. Know what your up against and you won’t be disappointed. People are unique, but totally harmless.

I’m being very generous with those 4 stars for 4 reasons: 1. People watching was superb!(Mind you I was there about 6pm and people in the bar clearly had been there for the better part of their afternoon) 2. Mai Tai’s were surprisingly delish even though I’m sure it was mostly premade mix & some booze, but they got the job done. 3. Our food came out in 7 minutes. I’m not even kidding. 4. They have an old school cigarette dispenser. I don’t know if it works but it looked cool. So yea, not the place to go for over the top service, food, drinks… But I had a good time, I didn’t get sick from the food & our total tab for all our food &6 drinks came to less than $ 50.

Went there to have a drink with my girlfriend last evening. Walked in and gave the man sitting down our I.D.‘s. He proceeded to tell us we smell of smoke and should only do one intoxicating thing at a time. bNeedless to say we turned around and walked out. If you want to feel uncomfortable and get lectured I suggest you go here. As for me, I don’t think I’ll be back.

I gave it one extra star because it’s close by and they have good drinks, and my friend and I used to get the lunch specials when we were like 11 yo and order shirley temples lol. Basically my whole life this has been known as a big drug hangout. I think a lot of people here do coke and probably every other drug.(no I know that for a fact) Everyone seems to know each other. I saw one girl my mom used to babysit there and she was majorly tweeking out like some crack addict, she could not stand still for half a second wailing her arms all over the place while talking constantly shuffling her feet — it was heartbreaking Nikki. Clean up your life. So if you want to hang out with a bunch of alcoholics and score some drugs this is probably the place to go. PS I like how the bartender presses buttons on the cash register(which is from like 1965) and it says 000.00 for the sale, then hejust throws the money in so he doesn’t have to pay taxes on it. lol. I could rip this place apart for hours…

When you leave New England you appreciate the style of Chinese food we have. Go eat at a Chinese place in Florida then you’ll get it. Haluwa is old school american Chinese food. It is good but when your done eating you regret it. However I do have to say the waitress that has been there since before I was born has the personality of a run over snake she has a way of making you feel unwelcome and like you coming to eat has interupted her break. She gives off a vibe that she is better than you even though she will die or retire working at the«haluwa» my advice sit in the lounge. I guess when you spend your life in the haluwa you get bitter. The best thing there are the rolls from chinatown, however dont ask for extra they treat them like gold and i am being serious. The food starts coming out before you finish ordering next time I hope they will heat up my rice.

Ok for cheap Chinese food but not always that great. Last week I ate there and had the saltiest pork fried rice I have ever had, borderline inedible from sitting so long I’m guessing. The server was very nice and had them make me a fresh one. The fresh one had NOFLAVOR, he must have thought I wanted no salt or pepper! I guess I just can’t win here, best of luck!

Not sure what Molly’s problem is, doubting the Haluwa love from the West Coast… but I am also living in California but I lived in Nashua until I was 18, and, whenever I am in Nashua I need to eat here. Like«Andy B.» I am totally biased because this was the«Chinese» food I grew up with, but nothing triggers nostalgia for my youth like the Haluwa pu pu platter. I love the fried shrimp, chicken fingers, spare ribs and chicken wings like no other! I have not eaten here regularly since 1991 so I can’t vouch for the current level of service, but Mr. Lew, the(now former) owner recognized me when I visited in recent years, even though I hadn’t been a regular since nearly 20 years before. I will be in Nashua in September 2015, and will eat at the Haluwa, come Hell or high water.

I love how three of the four«5-star» reviews are by people who live in California, but«have to stop by Haluwa whenever they’re back in town!» What awesomely bad fake reviews. This is literally the WORST place I have ever stepped foot in. The staff is comically rude. The food is terrible. Just an awful vibe all around.

One of my favorite things about this restaurant is that when I sit down, they never ask me if I want anything to drink. Then they proceed to not ask for the duration of my meal. I also appreciate how the chef makes his crab Rangoon with no crab at all, and instead doubles the amount of cream cheese. Definitely a bold move. I’m also convinced that this restaurant has thought of a way to save money by buying one bottle of soy sauce and then watering it down to fill every bottle in the building. And the best part is how expensive it is. It’s just overpriced enough that you’ll feel robbed after eating your meal.

I fucking love the Halua. It probably doesn’t deserve 5 stars… but my family has been coming here for like 30 years. So I’m partial. And it’s at the top of my «must eat at» list whenever I’m in town. Pu pu platter is awesome. Pork lo mein. And they have really good lunch specials. I think it’s like $ 5.

Years ago, I came in here with a few co-workers of mine to get some late night food. We ordered the pupu platter and a few appetizers. The server was some old man and was rude and abrasive to us the entire time. One of the people I was with spilt his water all over the table and took a napkin from the vacant table next to us(almost no one was in there). The server brought the bill and screamed at us in Mandarin until we walked out. The worst service I have ever received. Never go here! The food, service, atmosphere is terrible. PS — This is a hang out for Nashua white trash alcoholics!

The Haluwa seems to be a popular nighttime haven for the 30 something and way up crowd. Located next to Shorty’s in the Nashua Mall, this place is similar to the Jade Dragon in Merrimack, where they serve up a Chinese menu and offer live entertainment, DJ and karaōke in the lounge. The dimly lit lounge has a full cocktail bar, comfy seating, and performing area. I stopped here for a late Thursday night dinner on the way back home. The place was fairly busy because it was karaōke night! On Fridays, there are live bands and there is never a cover charge at the Haluwa! This review is for the food. I asked to be seated in the dining room, which was empty and has plenty of booth and table seating. The menu offers a good selection of Chinese dishes including Polynesian and Szechuan dishes. 21 Luncheon Combinations($ 4.75-$ 6.75) are offered 11:30AM-3:30PM(Mon-Sat) and as well as 9 Dinner Combinations($ 9.50-$ 10.50). The Pu Pu Platter for 2 which offers a sampling of appetizers comes out to the table flaming. If you don’t care for Chinese food, an American menu is offered including sandwiches, chicken, fried scallops, and more, all served with French fries and a tossed salad. An older waitress did a good job taking care of my table, who brought out ice water, hot tea, bread with duck sauce and hot mustard. I started with a bowl of Hot & Sour Soup($ 3.75), which was very spicy, but good. For dinner I had the Dinner Combo 6($ 9.50): Roast Pork Lo Mein with pork fried rice and 6 chicken fingers. The pork fried rice was covered in lots of soy sauce, no good. The chicken fingers were greasy and fried golden brown and very crispy. The lo mein(medium wide noodles) was pretty good and tasty. While I was eating my dinner, I could hear the DJ and karaōke going on in the lounge. I heard an older guy croon the 1970s One Hit Wonder«Magic» by Pilot. It was sooooo bloody awwwful! I wish I could SOUNDTHEGONG! «Oh ho ho it’s Magic…» Just imagine the character Bill Dauterive(the bald guy in the white tank) from«King of the Hill» singing drunk karaōke and that’s exactly how this guy in the lounge sounded. «Oh ho ho it’s Magic…» I wanted to pull off a Magic trick and disappear! Stop the torture! I had the food packed up, quickly settled the check, and did my magic trick-poof! Some good rock & roll in the ride got me back on track.
