Was there recently for the I Saw the Light movie première and I have to say, staff were amazingly wonderful. I had a great experience. I’m from out of town, but would definitely see a movie there the next time I’m in the area. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place and the people associated with it.

A wonderful old theatre and no doubt as to the reasons why it was chosen as the première location for the Hank Williams film«I Saw the Light.» We were treated well and the première was wonderful. Before the show you can take in the experience of being in a place with a lot of history and when the film starts all of that fades away and you are immersed into what you ultimately came there for.

I heart this place so much. The movies are inexpensive and original(lots of indie flicks.) You can buy beer and popcorn. I think that’s it. That’s really all you need to know. You can also catch live shows and talks from time to time. Midnight Movies is cool. But I really think cheap tickets, old theater, beer, and popcorn — ’nuff said.

This is one of Nashville’s most special places and my absolute favorite spot in town. Great mix of repertory offerings, midnight movies, special events, and new foreign and independent films. Clean theatre; courteous, friendly, unpretentious staff; and great concessions including some local beers on tap.

Incredible theater! They play all the best movies whether it be classics, the never-before-seen, and new indie flicks. Never before have I seen an entertainment venue such as this do such a spectacular job at preserving their history and going out of their way to educate and accommodate their guests. I’ve attended a few showings here(Boyhood, Rocky Horror, and Citizen Kane) and each had a speaker or some sort of film expert preface the showing so that we could really indulge ourselves in the experience. They strive for excellence and deliver nothing less. I hope to see the Belcourt thrive for many years to come.

A friend gifted us a dual membership to the Belcourt for Christmas last year. I have always loved this place but this year I’ve attending more movies/events due to the membership. I cannot express enough how in love I am with the Belcourt! It’s a little like a step back in time every time we attend a movie or event here. The concessions are reasonably priced and they have local beer on tap! PLUS members get a discount on tickets AND concessions! I encourage everyone to support this wonderful theater!

The Belcourt… We looooove the Belcourt! It’s a great theatre and I feel so lucky to live blocks away from it. We’re members and try to catch as many shows here as we can. The staff is always friendly and I love their concession stand. The prices are reasonable and everything is good. The seats in the theater are comfortable and the screens are nice. There are always great movies playing. We love catching the old classics, the films we’ve never heard of, favorite movies we know and love, sneak previews of movies not yet out and current movies that we’d rather not drag ourselves out to the mall to see. The Belcourt is awesome. That’s just all there is to it!

Being a huge fan of indie films and documentaries, I absolutely love the Belcourt. I have never had a theater experience quite like it. The staff is wonderful; they are passionate about the movies and their fabulous venue and they have a phenomenal sense of humor to boot. I have only been once so far to see Altered States and we won a float in a sensory deprivation tank! Now that I have permanently relocated to Nashville, I will be popping in on the Belcourt quite a bit.

I am in love with this THEATER !!! Noël and I went here to enjoy«The Interview» with Seth Rogen and James Franco. The theater is very nice. I love buildings from the past !!! I purchases my tickets online, and had them set to pick up at WiLL CALL the parking lot to the side is machine pay but if you go to the ticket window they will give you a code to put into the machine so you can park for FREE. I didn’t know this, so I paid $ 5.now I know .and I will remember !!! The concession stand had many choices !!! Full bar stocked with alcohol and beer, including draft. The food choices are not your normal movie theater. We bought two large sodas and buttered popcorn and it cost $ 18.50. The movie tickets also cost me $ 18.50 for both tickets. $ 37 for a great afternoon out with my lovely daughter… plus the $ 5 for the parking but the end result PRICELESSMEMORIES with my daughter. There is theater rooms to show four movies at one time here. They show a lot of independent films. You can become a member and support the theater. Check out their website at
I hope you go and enjoy the show!!!

One of Nashville’s gems. Every time I see a movie at the Belcourt, I’m reminded of how lucky we are to have this special place as both a part of our history and a part of our daily lives. I love the variety of films here, as well as the low prices and friendly, laid back staff(who know their stuff about the movies shown at the Belcourt, a huge perk). I am also a patron of the Nashville Jewish Film Festival and get to experience how the theatre opens its arms to the films and events year after year. The Belcourt is a one of a kind theater and a place where everyone — employees, customers and Nashvillians — feels happy and excited to be a part. The only drawbacks to the theater are the parking(though the lot is quite large, it often fills up quickly during popular films), the tiny ladies room, and the expensive concession stand. I can understand paying competitive prices for concessions, but $ 4 for a cup of drip coffee is a bit much. Nevertheless, I will continue to frequent The Belcourt whenever I’m in the mood for an indie or art flick. This place truly is a local gem.

I had some time to kill before checking into the room I rented, and I was in the neighborhood shopping, so I decided to stop in and see a movie at the Belcourt. If I lived in Nashville I’d probably have a membership. The staff were friendly and there’s plenty of parking for patrons. I saw a show in the late afternoon, so there were only a dozen or two people in the theater. Prices are very reasonable, and they show a great collection of art and indie films that can be hard to find at mainstream theaters – I saw Obvious Child when I visited, and I can’t even find that being shown in Chicago outside one theater. It’s not a run-down place; it may not have the fancy seating that brand new theaters have, but it’s perfectly comfortable. If you’re visiting, have a couple hours to spare, and are in the area, check out the schedule. And if you’re local, you have no excuse!

Nashville needs more places like this. The amount of culture and genuine entertainment that a place like the Belcourt creates is incredible. They are constantly throwing events(like outdoor movies and midnight classic showings) and the staff is always friendly and seem eager to serve and assist you. Not to mention the movie selection… I have yet to see a film I didn’t like at the Belcourt. Each film seems to be hand picked for greatness. The sound system and general aesthetics of the theatre are excellent. Everything feels classy, but cozy. I could come here every day.

The building is beautiful and has a wonderful ambience which places you in the movie watching mood. There are all your standard movie theatre fare served and a bar. No matter what your favorite style of film(cult classics, documentaries, foreign films, and movies you will see nowhere else) they will be playing here. I absolutely love The Belcourt Theatre! Go once, I am positive that you will be hooked!

This theatre is a non profit venue to watch independent films. The theatre first started in 1925. The theatre also has food. Most of it is typical movie theatre, but they have bratwurst. However, this is my favorite part of the theatre, a full bar! Yes, please! I had a mimosa while watching the movie. I like this theatre. It’s a good place to watch independent movies and to enjoy a cocktail while doing it.

The Belcourt is flat out fantastic. It really is. I love that they show everything from edgy documentaries to cult classics at midnight. They also have some incredible events like Oscar viewings, concerts, comedy, and the latest Wes Anderson film. It’s a historic site, so the interior is very classic with the red curtain and updated but still unique. They also serve alcohol and food! Score! I love the Belcourt and need to frequent them more often!

There is always something worth going to watch at the Belcourt. I’ve been coming here since I was an annoying teenager, before I could appreciate its awesomeness or partake in their adult beverages. The old theatre atmosphere is so warm and fun that it’s even worth going to see a bad movie here. You’ll still leave happy with the whole experience. And they do in fact play some terrible movies on occasion, because some cult classics are so awful that they just have to been seen(The Room, for one). As I mentioned, they serve beer and wine, which is a treat. And I always get the impression that the folks who work here truly enjoy their jobs. Everybody wins.

This theatre deserves nothing less than 5 stars. It’s a lovely old movie house, lush velvet seats and all, originally opened as a silent film house in the ‘20s.(Renovated since then, of course — nothing looks particularly shabby.) I visited on a late Monday afternoon and it was calm, quiet, and awesomely air-conditioned. I assume they have more moviegoers at a more normal time — the location is excellent, right off the Vanderbilt campus. Programming includes repertory, cult classics, indie/foreign, kids films, second run, etc. Plus lots of special programming: outdoor films in their parking lot, midnight screenings… Sometimes they do some first-run stuff as well. It’s basically everything anyone wants if they’re choosing not to go to a multiplex! Later this month they’ll be screening the hilariously brilliant Japanese horror cult classic«House.» Watching this on the big screen is a necessary life experience. All tickets before 6pm every day are matinée priced: $ 7.75! Ahhh glorious. They automatically gave me with the receipt a free parking pass for their lot. Two women in the row in front of me actually took care to sit slightly toward the left so they wouldn’t block my view — so thoughtful! Worth a visit as a tourist? Yessir, especially if you need some peace and a temporary change of scenery via silver screen. If you’re a local? Get yourself a membership!
