By far the best parts of F Scott’s were the jazz and the potato and squash gratinee, which was CRAZY delicious. Really, that’s it. My husband and I both ordered the NY Strip and almost half of them were solid fat. When I asked the waiter about it, he tried to pass it off as being the fat cap. Please, I know meat and the amount of fat on our steaks was beyond reasonable and someone should have noticed. Maybe he was irritated that we didn’t order apps, wine, or dessert. Either way, poor service and a bad attitude.

Fun place to go listen to live Jazz music. The food, although they try to be more upscale and innovative, lacks flavor, execution and quality. There cocktails and wine list are ok. My tip– go sit in the bar to listen to live music, have a cocktail and order an appetizer.

The hype of this place is the live music, but it doesn’t really live up to it. Add to that the ‘meh’ food, small portions, and extreme prices, and you can skip this joint for a better place.

BLUF: For the rather high prices, I expected more. Seating: We were not seated anywhere near the Jazz! We could hear it but there aren’t many seats close to the stage. Slightly disappointing. Appetizers: We ordered the pan-seared Scallop(singular, by the way. Don’t expect more than 1) and the Acorn Squash risotto. The scallop(again, singular) was chewy due to being overcooked, miniature, and was way too salty. $ 12? Really? The risotto($ 12) had good flavor, but was watery and undercooked. Main dish: We ordered the Swordfish and the paella. The swordfish($ 34) was grilled very well and the cauliflower, sweet potato risotto had good flavor. Again, the risotto was undercooked. No complaints about the paella($ 34). Dessert: Sweet Potato Cheesecake($ 12) Wow. Like Thanksgiving and Christmas dessert all rolled into one tasty dish. You won’t be disappointed by this dessert if your bank account hasn’t already been emptied by the rest of the meal. Conclusion: We probably will not come here again. Too pricy for the lack of quality and attention to detail. Maybe we are just spoiled from living in Savannah for 3 years.

The food in the main part of the restaurant is very good. If you are looking for classic-styled, unique drinks, you’ll find that hear. The waiters are hit or miss. About 2/3rds are very knowledgeable and helpful, which is particularly important if you aren’t familiar with fine dining. I’ve been twice, with the latter time not quite as good as the first. The waiter did everything that was necessary, but she was generally unhelpful when making selections. I am young, so it is quite likely she dismissed me. In their entry, they have a lounge area that’s really nice. They have jazz nightly, and you could easily spend a couple hours there, sipping on cappuccino, wine, or some other nice drink.

This place has the opportunity to really corner a market in Nashville with jazz and quaint food. Hopefully once they move locations from green hills to west end — they will be able to revamp and update the atmosphere a bit. The discounts after 9pm are attractive and make it very affordable. However, the experience is not memorable. The menu looked enticing, but the dishes lacked presentation and flavor. The jazz does not carry throughout the restaurant. The service is underwhelming. Overall, I would recommend an evening in your dining room with Diana Krall over spending the money to have mediocre food and service. With that said, the music in the lounge was delightful. Maybe just stop in for a drink and a few songs before you start the night.

My wife and I ate at F. Scott’s this weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Fir the appetizer we had the market flatbread which was good. It was topped with chicken and some type of sauce(i can’t recall what type of sauce) either way it was good and large enough to share. Fir the entrée I had the New York Strip with sweet potato fries. She had the Wagyu beef cheeks with sweet potato fries. The New York Strip was a club cut one that I’m not used to. It looked like a large fillet but the waiter confirmed the cut for me. It was cooked perfectly tender ave well seasoned. The sweet potato fries were ok I thought the texture was a little of but they were still good. My wife’s dish the Wagyu beef cheeks was different but good. I know Wagyu is supposed to be super but this was too much. When I tasted her dish the beef dissolved within seconds. I’ve come to refer conclusion that I like to chew my steak. It wad good though. For dessert we had the sweet potato cheese cake. We were going to split it it was barely enough for one. It was different but good. I am taking one star off for portion size and price and yeah maybe I’m being nit picky but I really do five stars. But all and all I really enjoyed myself. The atmosphere here was great there was a live jazz band in the lounge that you could hear throughout the restaurant. Our waiter was good though sometimes it took him a while to check in on us. Price was expensive. With the tip or Bill was $ 170. DEFIANTLY a social occasion spot but all in all its with going to just be ready for the bill.

F Scott’s near Vanderbilt has always had a nice atmosphere, with the live Jazz music. The food has always been good, but seems to be more adventurous in flavor and presentation in the past few years. The Jazz band can be viewed in the bar and also heard in the dining area, which is quite enjoyable and relaxing. You will need reservations, and may still need to wait in the bar, as you are never rushed in the dining room. The seared scallops and the bourbon glazed duck breast a both excellent starters. The menu rotates for available fresh ingredients, The roasted sucking pig and the wagu beef entrees are both succulent. There is an extensive wine list and the servers are excellent at suggesting pairings. F Scott’s is definitely a special occasion destination not to be missed in Nashville.

Restaurant week is one of my favorite local events, so we decided to take advantage of it and try another spot: F. Scott’s. When I last came here about 4 years ago with my parents, we sat in the jazz bar and had snacks and cocktails, and I really enjoyed it. I really like a place where you can get a good meal and listen to some good music that isn’t an open mic night(Should I mention how much I detest open mic nights?). So we headed on down to Green Hills on Friday at rush hour to check out our local jazz joint. F. Scott’s is what you’d expect from a upscale white tablecloth restaurant. They have valet parking, polite and attentive waitstaff, and very neutral non-offensive décor. This is a place where you can take your parents for a nice dinner; they will find something good to eat, they will enjoy the music, and they won’t complain that it’s too loud. Steve and I sat in the regular dining room, which is separate from the Jazz bar, but we could still hear the music wafting through the space. They started us off with some warm bread from the kitchen. It was a nice touch that the butter was already soft at room temperature. I have no idea why every restaurant doesn’t serve soft butter instead of those frozen little bricks. The bread was delicious and I especially enjoyed the focaccia with cheese on top. Their cocktail and wine list was rather extensive and pricey. I went with one of my favorite old standbys, a Kir Royale. I got hooked on this little number when visiting Paris during college, and sipping on it again gave me flashbacks(in the good way). They were out of Steve’s first beer of choice so he opted for a Belhaven Scottish Ale that was very delicious. I think being out of the first choice beer was fortuitous for Steve, because he now has a new favorite. Our first course on the menu was a smoked tomato soup with shrimp sausage and a sweet corn drizzle. This was a very confident first course. The potatoes in the soup were still firm and provided just the right amount of texture. The soup itself had a smokey-spice about it that made me want to lick the plate. But honestly, the shrimp sausage was the best part. The sweetness of the shrimp paired with the smoke of the soup was just perfect. This was a very well crafted dish. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the second course: the summer squash salad. This was basically raw squash shaved in very thin curly-cues with a drizzle of vinaigrette topped with crispy beets and goat cheese. The squash lacked the flavor I was expecting but the beets provided a nice crispness. The goat cheese was a wise compliment to the crispy beets, but it just didn’t save the dish for me. We waited for what seemed like an inordinately long time between the salad and the entrée. I understand taking time between courses, but this was just too long of a pause considering the pace of a prix fixe meal. Also, during this time no waitstaff came over to check on us, which I thought was rather odd. For my entrée I chose the trout with peaches and green beans. I have to say the dish was served beautifully; they really hit the mark on presentation here. My favorite part was how they removed the trout skin, crisped it up like a chip and served it on top of the fillets. The peach went really well the the trout, which makes me wonder, is there anything out there that can’t be enhanced by peaches? I DAREYOUTOFINDIT. I have probably never said this before(and hopefully never again) but dessert was my least favorite part of the meal. We decided to do an add-on and order up something sweet, because: DATENIGHT. We ordered the peach panna cotta with basil pound cake and when it came out, it looked beautiful. This was one of the prettiest looking desserts I’ve seen. But when I put it in my mouth, it was just all sorts of weird. The panna cotta itself didn’t have much peach flavor and the basil cake was very dry and didn’t quite go with anything else. On top, they put a mound of blackberry sorbet. The sorbet had a very overpowering flavor and when you got that on your fork you really couldn’t taste much of the delicate peach. This missed the mark for me. Our restaurant week trip to F. Scott’s was rather inconsistent. Some dishes were spot on, others just fell flat. The service was the same. While we did have to wait a long time to get our entrée with no one checking in on us, our waiter was nice enough to comp my after-dinner decaf espresso when it didn’t come out in time to enjoy with dessert. To be fair, I feel like I should go back and sample offerings off the regular menu and the jazz bar menu before I pass any final judgements. I will also make sure to stick with a simple, chocolate dessert.

Was visiting a friend in town for a special occasion and I made reservations for 12(+ a toddler). BYOB for Moët(corked bottle fee was $ 25). We had dinner after 9 for the half-off special. For the large party that we had; the menu was straight forward, sophisticated, and very accommodating. I had the Pan Seared Trout w/roasted veggies and it was excellent! Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The jazz room is where there is live jazz going on. We wanted to be seated where we could hear the music(some of the rooms are too far to hear). Either way, there’s quite a bit of seating in the jazz room, mostly tables for two, and very limited bar seating. Speaking of ambience, this place has a sort of «Blue Note» feel to it. The night we went, there was a drummer, a cellist, and pianist/vocalist, and I thought I was hearing Donnie Hathaway or even Teddy Callier. It’s chic and very formal. Definitely dress casual attire and up for this venue, although I was a bit surprised to see a few jeans and polo shirts walking around inside. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone for just about any occasion — dates, friends, larger gatherings.

We always have a good time here. Larry was out waiter this time. He was super friendly and had great suggestions. I love love love their 5 grain salad. I always get the fried goat cheese addition with the salads. I also loved their salmon dish. My bf loved the duck. we each liked our own entrees more than we liked the others. No room for dessert or appetizers. Wait! We did get the pumpkin cheesecake to go. I don’t remember any pumpkin, but if there was any, it got drowned out by the heavenly, buttery caramel topping and candied pecans! One downside was we ordered a glass of $ 25 Pinot and to me it tasted as if it had been exposed to too much oxygen. my bf liked it, but then again he doesn’t like o cause a stir. We switched over to the bar and listened to the final set of the band which was nice. We also ended up buying our waiter a drink($ 12 for a kettle one on the rocks) even tho we had to remind him earlier to give us the 9pm 50% discount.

We went for dessert and drinks hoping to listen to some live Jazz. We were originally sat far away from the music, but asked to be moved to a table in a different dining area where we could hear better, and they were very accommodating. The music was great, and the desserts were fantastic. Our waiter was friendly and prompt. Dress is business casual and up; and be prepared to spend $$$ — but hey, what do you expect?! I would visit again for a special occasion. This review is based on one visit.

I chose this restaurant because of so many reviews that said that this one was one of the finer dining establishments in Nashville. Seven of us went for dinner here one chilly, rainy night. Because of the line at the valet station, friends and I opted to park across the street and walk over. No wait, no line. I did not sit in the bar for the jazz in the evenings. I would like to return here to listen to music. I dined with a group of friends and none of us had ever eaten here. They seated us in the back of the restaurant where it’s quieter from the front area. The waitstaff was impeccable. The restaurant was clean. Everything was top notch except for the servings. For the price we paid for our meals, many of us mumbled that we were headed home to make ourselves another meal. When everyone in your party says that, then servings must be ridiculously small for the high price. Quality… I’m going to say that my food was not extraordinary. Nothing stood out as amazing. 3 scallops on my dinner plate. I would have been happy with 6. I’m sure of it. I was wanting more, but I wasn’t going to order a second dinner. I think all of us felt the same way. Not enough food, very, very expensive, tasty. That’s all I can say. I can’t recommend.

After my second great experience at F Scotts I’m going for it and giving them the elusive 5 stars! First of all… the atmosphere is just incredible. There is a full jazz bar to the left with killer music and they often have a singer present to seduce you into a drink at the bar. Awesome! Go to your right and you have a lovely upscale restaurant where you can hear the tunes drifting down the hallway. Visiting here is such a great time! But I’m here to talk about the dinner, so here goes. On this trip, we did not opt for appetizers, but I have had the pleasure to devour the tomato bisque with a mini grilled cheese on top in prior visits. Hello delicious! We actually had the same waiter this weekend that we had on our first visit, and he was just as friendly and personable as I remember,(his name is Matt) and even though we did not order appetizers, he brought us a complementary mini fried green tomato bite with a corn salad because«he didn’t want us to be bored while we waited for our meal.» It was excellent, and I thought a great way to show us first class service. For entrees, I had the sole with vegetables in a roasted red pepper vinaigrette. It was exceptional! I ate every last bite! The table also had the pork chop with jalapeño and cheese grits as well as the polenta vegetarian entrée. We all were left wanting more after the food ended. But the service really went above and beyond and I’ll tell you why. My BF forgot to bring my Nashville Original gift certificate of $ 50 off the meal with us, and they were nice enough to credit the $ 50 without having the print off in hand(they are strict about having the actual paper). I really appreciated that they went that extra step when they didn’t have to(and I would have understood!). I cannot wait to return to F Scotts to support a local restaurant with exceptional service!

Disclaimer: This review is based on the bar area & the appetizer menu. I haven’t eaten in the actual restaurant. A friend and I wandered in on a random Friday night. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, and the inside is a little dated, but the place was packed! Luckily, we found a little table in the bar area. The live music was fantastic and our waitress was surprisingly attentive given how busy it was. The drinks aren’t overly expensive, and taste great! I can tell I’m getting my money’s worth. I recommend the duck nachos for an appetizer.(As I’ve mentioned in previous review, I’m not a nacho girl) but these aren’t heavy and have a variety of flavors. The truffle french fries smelled amazing! Given how small the bar area is and how busy it was, it doesn’t seem like the greatest location to sit down and hang out for hours — but it’s still fun!

We made a reservation for after 9:00 to enjoy the 50% off food, which was a great deal. Even without the discounted victuals, F Scott’s is a fine dining experience; however, because of the discount, we were able to enjoy appetizer, mains and a dessert. For the appetizer we shared the rabbit confit which was delicious and had a very nice texture to it. The reduced sauce was scraped from the plate with forks. We ordered the grilled elk and a special oyster stew for the main dishes. The oyster stew was very good, but it could have had a little more spice in the cream-base. The grilled elk was superb. It was cooked beautifully and with a tasty sauce. For dessert we selected the spiced maple ice cream and the pumpkin cheesecake. The spiced maple tasted like eggnog, and the pumpkin cheesecake had candied walnuts, and caramel on top which gave a salty crunch! The service was great, as can be expected from such a restaurant. We also found the wine menu not lacking, and were I not driving, I would have indulged in what looked to be a nice selection of Port. While in the dining room, we could hear the jazz music from the lounge as a nice background music which gave a boost to the atmosphere of the place. If we ever come to Nashville again, we would revisit F Scott’s.

OK, I finally decided to join Unilocal so I’m way behind on my reviews. We visited F. Scott’s last year during the holidays(12⁄2010). Since then I keep saying«We have to get back to F. Scott’s» Hard to believe we haven’t had time… but we are business travelers and are gone most weeks and sometimes you just. don’t.wanna.go.out.again. after all week in hotels/restaurants. But we REALLY do have to get back to F. Scott’s. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Food was great, from drinks to dessert. Our waiter was very good and personable. Loved being able to hear some jazz. I think next time we’d want to sit closer to the lounge so we could hear the music more. Heard that they have half price offerings later in the evening. Definitely have to check that out!

We went here for my husband’s birthday Friday night. The romantic atmosphere was perfect for a special evening. I ordered the pan seared flounder and he ordered the chicken. Both were excellent. The couscous and asparagus that came with the flounder were also very good. The service was great. There were so many different wines I had to try a few. I had the Louis Changarnier Pinot Noir from France and the Petit Chapeau from France. I can’t wait to go back and try other dry red wines on their list. We had Nutella ice cream for dessert. It was so smooth and delicious. The jazz music coming from the jazz bar was a complement to a wonderful evening.

Good but not great. I’m not sure why, it is just lacking something. Something a little absurd about the restaurant is that everyday after 9PM, everything on the menu is 50% off. I wonder if it has something to do with the enormous Cheesecake Factory that is behind it. We basically ordered everything: squab, crab cakes, foie gras, the vegetable special, sea bass, and a lot more. Everything was good but kinda reminded me of home cooking(although much better than anything I could ever do). I guess it lacked the flash of a restaurant named«F Scott» and used $$$$ ingredients with $$$$ prices(pre-discount).
