Wasn’t impressed at my first Harris Teeter, so much so that I don’t see the need to ever visit another, with various other grocer options in the states where they operate.

I had planned on cooking a prime rib as I did last year for Christmas, but Harris Teeter was advertising how great their Christmas dinners were. I’m usually not a sucker for those ads, but the woman I talked to assured me that they were perfectly cooked, delicious, blah, blah, blah. Well, it was NOT delicious at all. The meat was nothing like the prime rib I cooked last year. It had no flavor and had a weird texture. Last year there were no leftovers. This year I ended up throwing the leftovers away a week later. Obviously no one else liked it either. I had unfortunately ordered 4 sides as well. The only side worth eating were the yukon mashed potatoes. I’m glad I decided to make a few sides myself or I would have been completely humiliated serving what I got from Harris Teeter. Next year I’ll be cooking again. I was embarrassed that Christmas dinner was«meh.»

The seafood section keeps me coming back to this store. This is where you can find the best service in the store. The rest of the store is understaffed. I have come in many times to get a sub only to wait for someone to show up. The bag boys are gone so it takes longer to check out due to the fact that the checkers have to bag. Except for the seafood department, the prices are high and service is low. Service is still going downhill. Sad!

I love living near a Harris Teeter. They, by far, have the best deals. I can save the most money here. I occasionally am not able to find things in this store, either because they don’t carry it or they ran out, but that doesn’t occur too often. The people are super nice and always offer to help bring out my groceries, which I take advantage of when I have my screaming baby! I find Publix to be more expensive overall and Kroger the least expensive, however I have to be cautious of the quality of the produce at Kroger. I tend to shop elsewhere if I know this HT doesn’t carry the item(s) I need. All in all, this is my go-to store.

Overall it is a nice grocery store, like any other, with a good selection of quality products and a loyalty card program; however, this location always seems understaffed to me. You walk in, there is never anyone at the Bakery to slice bread, or at the cheese counter. Sometimes there is not even someone at the deli counter either. What gives? I don’t think they want customers to walk behind the counter and help themselves. That being said, as I live less than a minute from them, so they are quite convenient for a quick trip when I am short on something for a meal. But when I want to do some serious grocery shopping, I go to either Publix or Whole Foods, where I can get some real help, quality help and in the case of Publix, lower prices.

Good luck finding anything here. And why they hide all the healthy foods and products in with the other stuff I’ll never understand.

Grocery shopping in Belle Meade — what could be more fun! Well, pretty much anything that can occur outside of a prison cell. Prices are stupid high but it’s totally offset by a staff who holds you in contempt for having a child with you. Bear in mind, said child did not run, scream or terrorize anyone but was greeted with the enthusiasm of someone showing up to an AA meeting with a bottle of Jack Daniels(BTW, that’s a no-no). The old folk shoppers were sure he was going to bowl them over at any time and the clerks are about as friendly as Clerks. I only went there to take advantage of their triple coupon event something which was totally BEYOND the comprehension of the cashier who looked like I was handing her food stamps with my boogers on them. The store is clean, mean and overpriced, but on the plus side, no one dares to set foot in their ample clearance section, so you can make out like a bandit there. Just be prepared to be treated like one.

Harris Teeters grocery stores are a large chain, so it isn’t a shock to anyone. The stores, this one included, tend to be nice stores with a nice décor and clean floors/aisles. The staff is generally helpful, friendly, and nice. In the end, you are paying a premium 5 — 7% over prices at Kroger and 10 — 12% over Walmart. But, you just have to choose if that premium is worth a cleaner store and nicer people.

It’s a Harris Teeter, no shock there, but I’m writing this to tell you about the amazing salad bar deal. It’s been on perma-sale since the summer and is only $ 2.99 a pound! I get lunch there several times a week since it’s actually cheaper than keeping that many salad ingredients fresh at home. They’ve got the good stuff too: dried cranberries, bleu cheese, edamame, fresh cut pineapples and a surprisingly tasty tuna salad(though last time they snuck chicken salad in the tuna slot, an unpleasant surprise). If you work/live in the area, check it out for your next lunch. Bonus: since it’s in the supermarket it’s easy to grab pretzels, soup, or any other supplemental pieces you could want. Seriously, y’all, look how good my $ 3 lunch looks in that pic.
