I was disappointed. It was very Tex Mex and nothing special. Industrial décor a bit reminiscent of… Chipolte.

This has PP all over the menu(Pretentious Prices). Mexican food is just gonna be different variations of tortillas, rice, beans, cheese, and meat. So when you start charging about $ 15 a plate, you’re kinda insulting my intelligence. If you feel like Mexican, DON’T GOTOAZTECA. With the limited choices in the area, I guess this is the lesser of two evils. Overall Review: Wait for Chuy’s to open in a few months

I really liked this place at first, but when they kicked us out at closing time I was immediately turned off. First of all, I’ve worked in the restaurant industry. I’ve stayed well past closing time for you, so you should do the same for me. Second of all, you don’t know how much money I have. I could be tipping you 200%. But if you treat me like I’m going to tip you 10% well then I just might. Lastly, at least give me the option to go to the patio. We would have been happy to let you close up shop as long as you treat us like people and not pains in your behind.

Not bad of a place for Mexican food. We went on cold night in April, hoping to sit outside on the patio. It’s a bit overpriced compared to tequilas, but has a fully stocked bar. Lunch was about 12 $ with tip, so cannot complain too much. **make sure you use a coupon, because I know they out there.

I am sad to report that since I wrote the below review, La Paz has closed :(Nashville has lost a great restaurant I LOVE La Paz. It is a bit on the pricey side for the area(entrees range from 14−30ish), but delicious food, good portions, and an enjoyable ambiance make it totally worth it. While known mostly for its Mexican food, a lot of the dishes have their own American twist. My favorite dish, Chicken Florentine, comes with the tradition refried beans, guac, and rice, while also layering chicken with mozzarella and spinach and sprinkling mozzarella on the beans in a totally unique, totally delicious way. Yum! The service is great too! The serves are always friendly, attentive, and positively add to the experience. I am always looking for good places to eat in Nashville for when my NYC fam visits and this is definitely on the short list :)

I love, love, love this place. What a great place to sit out on the patio and enjoy a nice cold drink while laughing with friends! I don’t think anyone can beat their quesadilla’s! I’m looking forward to the next working women’s Wednesday!

The service was good with a friendly hostess and really nice server. The atmosphere was trendy and probably good for dinner or drink meet ups. Beyond that, the food killed it for me. There was no heat in the salsa. It was like watered down tomato paste. The tomatillo sauce was a little better though. My chili relleno with beans and rice was bland bland bland. I think they were going for non-greasy, but the total effect just didn’t do it for me. I really wanted some full Mexican flavors today, but this spot wasn’t it.

What can I say about LaPaz? I love Dennis and his family. The fact that they carry Lotus Energy Drink is a MAJOR plus! Love Chris — Beverage Manager. That guy can make any drink tastes good! Best fish taco in town. Love the guacamole. I like salt, so I have to admit that I have to add salt to my food. I have to be honest, every time I come here, I order the Fish taco, so other than that and the drinks — I may not be the best person to ask about the rest of the food. However, the atmosphere and the décor is really nice. It’s definitely a different type of Mexican restaurant vibe. More on the Modern American /Mexican side. Give it a try, price is great. Service is great. Location is great. Drinks are great and the Fish Tacos are awesome!

La Paz is a take on the slightly upscale Mexican Restaurant. It is not a new concept and La Paz itself has actually been around for years, until recently in Green Hills. I don’t have especially fond memories of the old location, or any memories really as it was just not that memorable. I found the new location however to be sleek, modern and completely inviting. The room is split between nicely wooded dining area and a long concrete bar that actually extends to the patio when the weather is nice. If you are paying the slightly upscale pricetag it is exactly the kind of interior that you would hope for. The food is pretty straightforward in a good way. The two kinds of salsa are good and the menu is full of standard tex mex fare. I had originally planned on having enchiladas, but a plate of fajitas went sizzling by and my reptilian brain took over and I had to have meat. Both parts of my brain were pleased with the choice, at least until all the blood in my body was drawn into my stomach to deal with the massive amount of food I was intaking. My wife had grilled chicken with a spinach cream sauce that was really good and not the average Mexican dish. They also have big old draft beers of Dos Equis for a good price, which always makes Mexican food taste better. The service was friendly and the owner even swung by the table to see if we were enjoying ourselves. La Paz is not breaking any new ground when it comes to Mexican dining, but they seem to hit the mark they are aiming for(mixed metaphor alert!) Altogether, It was a very pleasant dining experience and I would certainly go back..

We were fans of this restaurant when it was in Green Hills. Went last week(Wed. night), and there were many tables available. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. The food was just like the old place. We went with friends, and all of us remarked, «very tasty, very flavorful», as we ate everything on the plate(quite an accomplishment!). I ordered the fish tacos(you can order from the lunch menu if three is too many), and others ordered the chicken/spinach burrito-type dish, taco salad and something I cannot remember, that also received rave reviews. I will miss the patio from the old place in warmer weather, but will be back when craving Mexican.

I am always petrified of going to any Mexican place that is located here in Nashville. I know I’m a Mexican food snob after living in TX for 11 years and I don’t want to be a hater. But since it was my birthday weekend I was in the mood for Mexican and nothing else was going to do. I had La Paz bookmarked so I decided I had to go there. Saturday night at 8ish we walked in and were immediately seated. The place was somewhat dead. A couple of large parties were in there, including a party in the back that looked to be a private room, but overall it had an empty feel. The décor was sleek and modern, almost stark, instead of cheesy over the top fiesta of most Mexican places. Who cares if the place is empty though because it smelled absolutely amazing. I ordered up a margarita and then perused the menu, finally settling on the carnitas tacos. I love pulled pork, I love tacos, sold. The pork was tender and they served it in double corn tortillas with a non-spicy but tasty sauce that added more fat + moisture to the tacos. It also came with tomatoes and cabbage to put on the taco. The rice was forgettable. Dry, no flavor, just nothing to even recommend it at all. But so few places have good rice anyway so no big deal. The chips were good, not too thin, and the salsa had a reasonable heat to it although I still want to find a place with really hot salsa damn it! Margaritas were decent although they served them in a pint glass rather than a margarita glass. I’m not complaining, it was still a pretty good margarita and we know my favorite parts of a meal are the drinks after all! So yeah, based on what I had here I liked it pretty well and I am sure I’ll be back to try the rest of the things on the menu.

Popped in here the other day to grab dinner on a Friday night and was happy to be seated right away. We had attempted hitting up Taco Mamacita and J Alexanders first but there was nearly an hour wait at both. This was actually my first visit to La Paz and the shining star of my visit was the gracious and customer service savvy staff. From the hostess booth to our waiter, everyone was friendly and doting throughout our dinner. My half order of the California quesadilla which the kitchen tweaked a tad to accommodate my vegan diet was more than enough food. Maybe it was the two baskets of tortilla chips that I inhaled? The food made its way out to us quickly but overall the food was good but not anything that I would crave. I will likely be back for margaritas and snacks but La Paz won’t be a first choice… yet again.

This is a review of the bar and not the food. On to more important things… how do you charge $ 9 for a local(Corsair) vanilla bean vodka, and not put any vodka in the drink? I was in a good mood last night and didn’t want to be that jerk at the bar asking for more alcohol in my drink. It was quite possibly the worst cocktail I’ve ever had. It tasted like a drink you wake up to on your night stand after a bender, and that’s the only thing around to quench your thirst. If you’re in the mood for a quick drink, you’re probably better off going to the Gold Rush. I miss the old Ombi.

I’ve been here twice now but I can only really review the second visit. On the first visit we got there right as they were closing the kitchen and were given a plate of tacos, chips and queso, and a table, gratis. The ground beef tacos were good as was the dip. But I don’t think it’s fair to base the review on this. However, that is not a bad way to build customer loyalty. On the second visit I had the grilled pork tacos, with rice and beans, as well as the chips and two salsas already on the table. The two salsas(a milder green and a hotter red) were a nice snack. I like simple details like that. The tacos were fresh and tasty. They weren’t extremely flavorful but still good. I plan on returning to try other dishes, for whatever that is worth.

The location is very nice, but I think my overall feeling would have been better if the service hadn’t been so inconsistent. The waitress would appear to fill our drinks and then disappear for long stretches of time. I still prefer the Mexican food at Las Palmas. The price seemed slightly higher for what felt like only slightly more food. In the end, I don’t see myself making the trip over here for Mexican when there are other cheaper choices out there. It’s not that its bad, it’s just that it’s not better. As far as parking is concerned, we /assumed/the structure behind the building was for La Paz as well as «Hot Yoga» but it was not mentioned in any of the«Customers only» signage. .

It’s like this … we go all the time because it ain’t bad and it’s right down the road. But you know what, it ain’t good either. The fajitas have squash, zucchini, and roasted potato in them. Not what I am signing up for when I get Mexican. And the cheese dip is yellow — not white — deal breaker in a Mexican joint for me. The margaritas are fine but honestly not great. I’ve only been back in Nashville for a short while but if they are the best in town then by golly, I’m getting out my Jimmy Buffet Frozen Margarita maker and opening my own Mexican restaurant. My main advice when it comes to La Paz is eat quesadillas. Now those are good eatin’. And if anyone has any suggestions for a good, family-run, dirty Mexican restaurant not too far from Green Hills, I’m all ears.

La Paz is good Mexican food, but I’m not jumping up and down over it. I’ve tried it many times and it’s been fine. But it’s no Rosario’s. The fish tacos get a little soggy and fall apart. I eventually had to eat them with my fork. And the sauce was too runny. Turned in to one big mess! Their chicken burrito is big and stuffed to the gills with lots of yummy things. .. spanish rice, black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. You get the idea. I’ve never tried it, but those who have like it. They have lots of seafood choices from shrimp fajitas to quesadillas. I am not too crazy about their margaritas. Too sweet for me. Mind you, I still order one when I go so they’re not all that bad. The prices here are comparable to any other Mexican around town. It’s run of the mill and a good place to stop in for a quick bite to eat.

I know this is a chain in the Southeast, but it’s the only one in Tennessee, so I consider it a local favorite. It’s one of my favorite low-key restaurants anyway, and has a fantastic patio(open only in the spring and summer). They have the best green salsa of any restaurant I’ve ever been to – hands down! Their red salsa is good too – spicy! You get them both for free along with unlimited baskets of house made chips. I generally fill up on those well before my meal gets to the table! Oh, and you must order a bowl of the queso. I have never been there without it! As for other food on the menu, I enjoy their quesadillas – if you are not super hungry, ask for the half order. The Arizona is delightfully different – chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and spinach with cheeses of course. A lot of my friends love the fajita plates, which I have never ordered, but smell amazing. Great place for groups, and good for lunch or dinner. Plenty of room at the full-service bar as well.
