Very good. No wait and very friendly. Brisket was great, pulled pork was good, chicken was good, jalapeño and cheese sausage was great. Definitely would come back.

Best brisket I’ve ever had, including my time in Houston. Super tender, juicy and so full of flavor that you don’t need sauce. But I also like their sauces: hot, mild, vinegar, mustard and in the kitchen they have a creamy white sauce for the chicken and turkey. The hot BBQ is my favorite on the brisket. The other meats are also good, but I dream about the brisket. The beer battered onion rings are my favorite side, but the cornbread pancakes are very good. The people are friendly, and sometimes they are so happy that you can hear them singing from the kitchen(in tune, of course because it’s Nashville).

If there are two words that exemplify barbecue, they are most certainly«slow» and«low». You’ll find Slow & Low in a renovated and converted house in far west Nashville, something that instantly gives the joint a rather cozy feel to it. Couple that with a full-size pig costume(which I sincerely hope they put to use) in the corner, and you’ve got a very welcoming atmosphere. These guys have a glorious Four Meat Feast! Of the five available meats, I selected pulled pork, wings, brisket, and ribs, with Mama’s tater salad and beer-battered onion rings as my sides. I could hardly contain my excitement while my meat-tastic meal was being prepared. The potato salad had a great mustard flavor and plenty of black pepper to go around. All of the onions and pickles also gave it a nice crunch. The onion rings came out crisp and full of flavor. They were also seasoned well, and the onions themselves tasted really fresh. Their pulled pork was tender and had a decent amount of smoke, especially in the fattier pieces. There was also a good seasoning on the bark. I briefly considered sampling their sauces, but it seemed altogether unnecessary, so I passed. Hot wings were an obvious consideration, but I got mine naked so that I could give the true flavors a fair shake. The skin had a fantastic char and an equally tasty blend of spices. I found only a moderate smoke level, which is fairly typical for barbecue chicken. The meat itself was moist and quite enjoyable. The fatty layer right on top of the brisket had obviously soaked a ton of smoke. There was also a good crispness to the bark that I don’t find all too often. The meat was certainly tender, though maybe just a tad dry at times. It was difficult not to inhale all of it at once. My ribs were covered in a beautiful black crust and just a light drizzle of sauce. As soon as I bit in, I immediately got a big punch of delicious smokiness, almost as much as I found in the brisket. There was also a slight spiciness in each bite from the sauce. Slow & Low BBQ Bistro may be a bit off the beaten path as far as Nashville barbecue goes, but it’s absolutely worth the trip.

These guys catered an industry event earlier today. Wow they nailed everything. Brisket, pork, beans, catfish. All awesome. What ever they rubbed the brisket in was amazing. I did not try the potato salad as it looked like it had eggs in it but others said it was great. There was VERY little food left over!

Brisket brisket brisket. Fork tender with some amazing flavor. Good portion size at more than reasonable prices. As Forrest would say«I like it a lot» lol. Very close to John Tune Airport for my fellow aviators.

We are traveling across the country & back. One of the biggest joys has been finding good places to eat local food. This was some of the best BBQ we have ever had. The place was comfortable to eat in. Staff was beyond friendly & welcoming even though we arrived within an hour of closing time. It was clear from every bite that the owner loves BBQ.

Mediocre. Green beans looked canned and the sauce was funky, Coleslaw was ok, Fries were fine, but why offer it as a side if you consider four sad fries as a side? To the meats! Ok, first, I got two take out orders of the four meat platter. I literally got one pathetic size of sauce for two people. ONE. Now this is a big deal because none of the meat comes pre-sauced. The pulled chicken and pork are totally dry and mostly flavorless. They *looked* like had been cooked in a smoker, but tasted like the bland meat my mother would poach and serve for dinner. I mean, c’mon! Brisket was very good. It was wet but not fatty and had a very nice crust(And I’ll add I’m one of those ‘I’m from Texas and know blah blah’ people). Ribs were excellent as well. Very tender, fell off the bone and had good flavor. I wasn’t wild about the wings but my husband really liked them. They were tender and the skin was not mushy, which can happen with oven baked or smoked wings. What I didn’t care for was the dry seasoning that was sort of gritty. Oh! Instead of cornbread we got slider buns. Slider. Buns. I was sad because I was looking forward to anything that wasn’t a slider bun. Get the brisket and ribs and ask for extra sauce(weird texture but nice spicy flavor). Unless you’re my in-laws from the Midwest. Then get the chicken and pork.

Was in town from Chicago and wanted to try some good Southern BBQ. I was happy with the potions and different amount of food to sample. I enjoyed the pulled pork with mac and cheese sides. Food was fast out and hot. I enjoyed eating outside and they were nice enough to bring the food to you.

I had never been here after driving past it a few years. Tucked away it’s easy to miss. Parking lot is small so be prepared to park on the street and walk. You’ll need the exercise after eating this awesome food. I went with the good olé fashioned pulled pork plate and two sides of baked beans and turnip greens. As I was deciding the staff member Trey mentioned they got a new frog legs recipe and said he’d cut me a deal for half a plate. Having never had frog legs before I figured what the hell lets live a little and got the half. Sweet tea wasn’t very sweet, my bias is that I love tea that’s so sweet it makes me get cavities with every sip. They also have three sauces: a mild, a spicy, and a vinegar. The vinegar is the best I have had in TN. Being a eastern NC vinegar person, this is wonderful to know that a little taste of home is down the road. Pork was delicious and moist, not overcooked like other places I have had here in Nashville. Beans were good and greens were great. Frog legs were awesome, I highly recommend them. Trey came up and talked to me and see how I was doing and chatted me up for a bit. Nice guy and that kind of customer service really sets them apart from the rest. Highly recommend and will be back!

Cute place, average food. I tried the pulled pork and the brisket. Both were good but not great. I do appreciate that the meat was NOT overly dry– but I felt the need to use the BBQ sauce for additional flavor and not just a complimentary addition. I’m all about the sides and was disappointed. The Mac and cheese was below average. The greens had no taste at all– I was surprisingly disappointed here because usually greens are greens ya know? I did enjoy the baked beans and the fries. Also the service was great. They were super friendly.

I got a small order of smoked hot wings. The wings are smoked and then flash fried. They are traditional bar wings and really tasty! They were not actually hot though a little more heat would have been nice.

Great food, nice employees, atrocious management! Be prepared for frustration and long waits. We simply order here occasionally for convenience of location. Tonight we called in a pickup order by phone and were told it’d be «5−10 minutes». By the time we received our order, it took a total of 45 minutes from the time we called in. If you continuously have only 2 workers and slammed with customers, it may be beneficial to hire more staff. It’s like this every time. Your not just short staffed, you’re not managing your business well by keeping enough employees on staff.

BBQ is polarizing. One man’s favorite is another man’s…NOT favorite. Hubby and I ended up here tonight because we struck out with our first two places we tried. We split the four meat sampler(the gal at the counter said she recommends it for men. She doesn’t recommend anything for women because«you never know». That was cute). Ordered green beans, turnip greens and baked beans as sides. We didn’t like any of the sides. Bland, very bland and weird tasting in that order. The sauces weren’t any better. It wasn’t great. I could go on but what’s the point?

We were in the area around lunchtime, so I opened up Unilocal and saw this place is almost a 5 star rated place. Must be GREAT, right? Well… We arrived on a Saturday, a little before noon. The employees were out front on the porch smoking. They looked at us as we pulled up & then realized we were customers and extinguished their smokes & ran inside. We were the first consumers of the day. The woman who took our order was very friendly. She asked if we had been before & we told her this was our first time. She ran around to the front of the counter & explained all the different parts of the menu & what were her favorites. On her suggestion, I ordered the Walkin’ Texas Ranger sandwich combo with one side for $ 10.99. I ordered the corn casserole as my side. The restaurant is located in a smallish building. The building is built up off the ground, almost like its on stilts with a deck that wraps around 2 sides of the building. The drinks are self serve & are coke products. They also have different types of BBQ sauce on the counter. My favorite is the«hot». If you like hot stuff, you won’t find the hot too hot though. It didn’t take but about 5 minutes or so for us to get our food. The Walkin’ Texas Ranger is «a hungry man’s portion of tender slow smoked brisket served on a kaiser bun and topped with pickles.» The side was called a corn casserole, & it tasted to me like corn with some jalapeño cheese melted in. It was good, I didn’t think it was amazing. I was able to try some of the French fries & they’re were great. I wished I’d ordered the French fries. Onto the sandwich. The bun says its a kaiser roll, but it’s more of a hamburger roll with sesame seed bun. I wished it was a little more dense & didn’t squish so much. The brisket was okay. It was room temperature & most of it was a little dry to me. There were some pieces that weren’t dry, but they had fat that needed a little more cooking because it was a little jelly and chewy. I pulled some of the fat off & poured on the hot sauce onto the sandwich and I enjoyed the sandwich. Overall I thought that the staff were very friendly. I loved the fries & enjoyed the hot sauce they have available. I was let down a little with the sandwich & corn casserole. I didn’t think it warranted the 11 dollar price tag & I didn’t see it being a 5 star sandwich like many other Unilocalers have stated the BBQ is.

Go for the ribs! Pulled pork was good. It was hard to eat around the fat on the brisket… but it was tasty. The sausage was too heavily seasoned and tasted like it had breakfast sausage mixed in. The ribs… A-MAZ-ING!!! Fall off the one tender and great smoked flavor in every bite. Go for the RIBS!!! Service was great and attentive as well.

I’m a meat eater, and love it, though I could — not eat meat — for awhile, and crave it all of a sudden. This is what happened in Nashville, and was really jonesin’ for some good ribs. Came here based on Unilocal reviews alone. Being a butcher’s son and an amateur cook, I was looking forward to seeing what they would to with ‘em and how they’d turn out. They’re in a pretty good location, literally right around the corner from 70, so this makes it fairly accessible. Note that parking didn’t seem that great at only a handful of spaces. If there was more out-back it wasn’t intuitive for me to notice. Typical quick food place with a good size dining room, and patio. They actually keep the place clean, which is something to be said in a day and age that seems to care less about the details. You order at the cashier, and tonight the guy and girl were kinda nice and funny, like they cared about what they did. All I wanted were ribs and none of the sides, cuz I did’t want my gut to be bombed, so I went with the half slab of baby back, and also a side of deep-fried jalapenos(w/ranch). I had a seat, and there are a coupla TVs going. It only took about 10 min before they bring me my food, and here is the skinny — 1. The ribs were the most moist/tender/soft that I have ever tasted, and were literally falling off the bone. 2. With all due respect, it’s the dry rub that I didn’t particular care for. It was really peppery, yet not the chile-kind-of-pepper, but the ribs were peppery in a blackened pepper-kind-of-way, and though they probably blackened the pepper as part of the process, it just wasn’t what I personally preferred. 3. Now, given the dry rub, this still could have worked if the sauce had been tangier in a sweet kind of way, but unfortunately, the BBQ sauce is more of a VINEGAR-base, which didn’t really balance well with the pepper dry rub(in my humble opinion). 4. Then, there were the jalapenos, which, when I ordered ‘em, I assumed might be fresh ones, though unfortunately, they were the sliced/canned/vinegary ones, which further-amplified the competing taste of the ribs. Actually, I started using the ranch as the dipping sauce for the ribs, which complemented each other quite well. So, all in all, they do really well in most ways, but for my own personal food preference, miss the mark in a coupla ways — hence the 3-star rating.

Cool little joint. Tiny parking lot — think has 5 or 6 spaces max. Great deck on front if the weather is good for dining. Smelled the smoke when we opened the door, always a good sign. I ordered the 4 meat platter and split it with my son. We got double pulled pork, brisket and ribs, sides of fries and slaw. Platter included a corn pancake. The pulled pork had a nice smokey flavor and we had a good bit of the outer bark. Tried it with their three sauces; a vinegar base, and two Kansas City style sauces. All were good. I’d rate it a 7 out of 9. The ribs had a good smoke and had just the right amount of sauce on top. They were done well. Only pet peeve was they didn’t remove the silver skin before cooking. I’d give these an 8 out of 9. The brisket was not good. I’d have to rate a 5. It had a fat layer and was way overdone. Slaw had a real good kick to it. Lots of people gave the cornbread pancakes a great review but they were a bit too savory and a bit dry for me. I prefer sweet cornbread. My wife got a couple of chicken thighs with her plate and I’d give them a 9. Fried pickles were really good, and so was the sweet tea. Worth a trip if you’re in the area. And if you’re a fan of Hatch Prints they have a nice collection on the walls.
