VIP Nails

Absolutely disappointed! Went in with a design I wanted. The guy barely looked at it and started my nails to then to find out that he couldn’t even do the design when he was just about finished with my nails. He had a woman come do it and it looked like something I did with my left hand. Absolutely terrible! When I told her they looked bad he proceeded to give me an attitude. I couldn’t even believe it! That’s the first time I never not tipped.

I was a walk in — approx. 3pm on a mid-​week day — but there were only a handful of clients so I was taken care of almost immediately. The place was very clean and tidy. I had a pedicure and a gel fill. The pedicure was just OK with a couple of specific issues — first I was expecting the usual «razor blade» tool for the dry skin build up on my heels and instead the technician used a fine cheese grater … yes really! My feet we so sore later that night and the day after that walking was painful. When the polish was on, I questioned why the nails were not glossy and was first told it was the lights, and then my nails were to blame. But a second technician did take off the polish and French polish and redo –they are still not glossy — which I have never had happen before. But I am also used to several top coats being applied and they only applied one.
I was then transferred to the male technician for my gel «fill» — I agreed that I had left the fill too long and they would need to take off the gel and start over, my firm request was to keep my real nails (no tips). I suggested a method to take them off — which has always been successful and was ignored. He brought out the clippers and proceeded to damage my index finger nail to the point where he’d cut off all my natural nail (and then charged me for a tip). He was rude, and when I was done he just got up and walked off … no asking whether I was happy. I still tipped, because it’s what I do — but only $ 14 on $ 106 service (which by the way I usually pay $ 85 for) not my usual 20%.
The final gel nail overlays (French) are «OK». Technically sound, but not feminine at all — just a straight white stripe with no curve to them. Not what I wanted for the Holiday season for sure. I won’t be going back.

I love this salon! I recently moved to naugatuck and have been struggling finding beauty places. I have tried two other salons and they don’t seem to compare to VIP. The staff is great! They work with you if you need to go in at a certain time. Devon does my nails and I have no complaints ! She delivers each time. I definitely recommend!

Unless you want your nails looking like a first grader did them, don’t go here! Got a Mani/​pedi and had to constantly show the nail tech spots that she missed while painting. She left one of my toenails half filed half not so that it was pointy on one side, making it look lopsided…
The nails on my hands came out messy and I’m feeling super disappointed in myself for paying 40 bucks for a service I could have done myself and better. This place has some nerve!
