The Handy Panty in my town of Nesconset is where I go and pretend that its 1892 and I am visiting the Ye Olé General Store. This is because of its old, nostalgic atmosphere, condensed size, and family-feel when connecting with the workers. My #1 item is the morning egg special. 2 freshly made scrambled eggs with bacon(+ I get hot sauce) on a roll with an orange juice for $ 1.89. I could not fathom how they could possibly make money off of this insane deal. I was so curious as to how they pull it off, that I signed up for Accounting Classes at BOCES and attended twice a week for 3 months, studying diligently, eagerly anticipating the chapter that teaches the markup value of an egg, roll, 2 slices of bacon, wrapper, and cardboard orange juice carton. Alas, it was in vain because they only seemed to want to teach debits and credits. But anyway, another mention-worthy sales item that can be found at the Handy Pantry: next to the cash register, they sell empty rolls of toilet paper that have a tootsie roll crammed inside, and it is wrapped in tissue paper and sells for $ 0.80. The genius behind this christened it a «Surprise Roll». Watch out, Shark Tank.

If there were a polite person behind the counter and no one else, it’d deserve 4 stars. Decent selection, nice layout, but wow do the kids behind the counter deserve to be fired. Just terrible terrible customer service. We just choose Great American right down the block to go to for quick needs. I have no idea why anyone would go back here.

I mainly only go here for odds and ends that I need when I don’t want to go to the real super market because it’s really close to my house… so it’s good for that, but not much else. The sandwiches aren’t very good and are sloppily made, and often incorrect. The worst part is the people that work there, I agree with Dominick here that most of them couldn’t care less about the customers… like literally the guys behind the counter were practically shouting about their drunken debacles and how much they hate their jobs and whatever else they were bitching about… it’s so annoying I am not going to be shopping there any more

Cheap cold cuts and on Sundays you can buy a dozen kaiser rolls for $ 1.99. How can you beat that deal. The place is always stocked and the cold cuts are reasonably priced. I stock up here every week for sandwich crap for the week. Although the cutting of the cold cuts could be better. After a day the cheeses are always stuck together which is real annoying. The service is OK, nothing to write about. Oh wait, I just did. Good place to pick up odds and ends when you don’t need to conduct a full blown shopping run.

The kids who work here couldn’t care less whether you get what you asked for. At least pretend you give a damn? I’ll go to the Pakistani guy down the street because he at least acknowledges me. The few times I’ve gone here, the teenagers behind the counter are concerned about everything other than their jobs… their cell phones, talk of drunken escapades the night before. the management here needs to step it up a tad bit more on the discipline.

The woman taking my order was distracted and asked me to repeat it several times. They put slime turkey on my sandwich instead of the kind I asked for, my sandwich was gross.
