My friends and I were looking for a quiet place with Mediterranean food and Aladdins filled the bill. On a Friday night at 6 pm there weren’t a lot of customers in spite of the truly excellent dishes on the menu. We shared the Mazza Plate which featured a choice of 5 different items from the menu.$ 17.00 but enough for 3 – 4 people. Ours had tsatsiki, tabouleh, hummus, falafel, Feta cheese & pita bread.
The vegetarian gyro was also said to be yummy. Great food. Pleasant servers. We will be back.

Everything is awesome… the gyro, the beef kebob… and the hummus is some of the best I’ve ever had. Quirky little restaurant, but amazing food!!! I’m so happy we went. The best Greek food I’ve had.

I really like Aladdin’s and have eaten there about 5 times. I was glad they expanded next door and now the seating is so much better. We’ve had the gyros, baba ganoush, hummus, falafel, tabouleh, and baklava. I’ve liked it all but I absolutely LOVE their baba ganoush. It’s some of the best in the Louisville area. Their menu has expanded since they first opened and that’s a plus as well. They are really friendly and a welcomed addition to downtown New Albany. Try them out and especially the baba ganoush.

Let me start by saying how excited I was to see this type of restaurant opened in New Albany. Maybe we went on a off night but from the start it sucked the iced coffee tasted like Ovaltine and the food was bland, bland, bland. I almost broke a tooth on obviously days old unseasoned rice and my husband’s hummus and beef was not only made with greasy ground beef instead of the traditional chopped lamb(yes I know lamb is not beef) usually offered at such places it had no flavor. I would have rather had frozen falafel they were so blah. Where are the spices and salt? Did the cook forget to add them? When I mentioned the hard old rice the waiter completely ignored me. I would never go back for a second chance and I live in the neighborhood and adore middle eastern food and would have been a very regular customer. Guess I’ll be heading across the river for the Grape Leaf from now. I don’t know where all these glowing reviews are coming from.

I found this place driving through and didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was extremely fresh and well cooked, everything tasted amazing. The portions were huge; I was extremely hungry when I came in and I walked out stuffed and with leftovers. My gyro combo came with hummus and I expected a little dollop but got a nice sized bowl and pita. I eat a lot of Mediterranean food and this was some top notch stuff.

Follow this restaurant on Facebook to get notifications about daily specials. His wife whips up things like potatoes stuffed with seasoned meat, then cooked in a tomato sauce with carmelized onions and spices. Incredible! But they’re a one or two day, get it while you can event, well worth the special trip.

So glad to have a middle eastern restaurant in New Albany. Let me start by saying the service went above and beyond. We came in at closing time to place a carry out order.(this is bad restaurant etiquette, I know better than to do this, BUT, we were very hungry and did not want White Castle) The staff was very accommodating. They didn’t even make us feel like creeps for the late hour. Just because it was closing time didn’t stop them from making our hummus to order. The bread was soft, warm and freshly made. The hummus was probably the best hummus I have had in a restaurant. The texture was silky smooth. I realized that at $ 4.99, there is never a reason for me to purchase substandard, grocery store hummus ever again. I can easily call Aladdins, order my hummus with extra fresh pita and it will be waiting for me when I arrive. My friend had the mazza. It was a generous plate of freshly made food. They cure the olives in house! They looked great, but I didn’t taste them as I don’t like olives. I did try the labneh, however. Holy cow, it was terrific! I would actually enjoy the labneh for breakfast with some tea and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden, maybe even an egg. Speaking of breakfast, they just happened to have homemade little donut hole type pastries(reminded me of the Indian dessert galub jamal) in a rose water syrup. I took an order home and enjoyed them later. Between the outstanding service, the fresh delicious, healthy food and the affordable pricing, Aladdins will be a regular stop for me, whether I’m dining in or just stopping by for fresh hummus and pitas!

We had an amazing meal tonight. One gyro meal with baba ganhoush and baklava and a chicken schwarma meal with hummus and rice. Plus a plate of some of the best green olives ever. It’s a simple place with warm family service.

I don’t normally post reviews, but I was so let down by this place. And all of the other reviews have nothing but great things to say. So I felt like I needed to share my experience. While the service was friendly and fast, the food was just mediocre. Chicken shawarma is probably my favorite food on the planet, and this one was less than satisfying.(I didn’t even finish it.) The chicken tasted store bought and the sauce had very little flavor. Needless to say. I won’t be back.

I’ve been wanting to try Aladdin’s Café for a while. This little hole in the wall is right downtown but hidden a bit and easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. If you do miss it though, you’re missing out on some phenomenal food! We started out with the Mazzo plate with, and I’m going to murder these spellings, hummus(smoothest eva with a great flavor), baba ganoush(exquisite eggplant dish), tabbouleh(a little heavy on the parsely and light on the tomato and onion for me), rice of the day(good, but forgettable) and Laneh cheese(amazing). Seriously, this could have fed 6 people if you get more pita bread. Oh! The pita loaves were just right! Just. Right. We ordered some to take with us to finish the dips left over from barely making a dent in the Mazzo. The gyro was well-balanced and had an interesting yet familiar mix of flavors. The beef and lamb were both tender and delicious. We visited as the restaurant is expanding, so there was a lot of empty space and construction stuff still sitting around, so I hesitate to comment on the environment. The view from the large front windows of a parking garage isn’t much, but for the affordable prices of the food, it is kind of par for the course. Upon entering the restaurant, we were told to have a seat anywhere, but after waiting several minutes, I started to wonder about the ordering process. Should I wait for someone to come over? should I order at the counter? With more prompt service, I would have felt a little more at ease. The slow service continued, but it wasn’t abysmal. I met the owner as I was paying at the counter and he seemed like a really happy, pleasant person one feels good about supporting. I’ll definitely be back and hope that Aladdin’s is around for years to come in downtown NA!

We had an excellent lunch here. The gyro was well-stuffed with meat and with plenty of tzaziki sauce. Smooth and silky hummus, baba ganoush with big, smoky chunks of eggplant, delicious falafel, and soft, pillowy, warm pita bread. We will definitely be back!

Found this place on Unilocal and noticed everyone’s comments were great, so we went. At first I was expecting something else by the appearance, but once inside the staff was great and very helpful explaining the menu. We ordered the hummus with meat as a appetizer. I must say that was one of the best I ever had. The pita bread you could tell it’s made in house, very fresh, warm, and soft. We later ordered the double lamb gyros, and again that was amazing. That came with options for several different side orders, so choose the baba ganoush. This was the most delicious ganoush we ever had. They have specials every night. We will definitely be stopping by later in the week for that. This place is definitely worth going, and you will not forget the the experience. Did I mention that the owner was on there also serving and explaining the different types of food in his culture. It was amazing learning this. We will be back soon!

We loved this place — everything about it! From the fact that it is a Mediterranean restaurant with«French artwork» on the wall, to the Swedish flag by the cash resister, and the American table cloths, to the food. But especially the food! Thank goodness for Unilocal or we would have never run across this place. As far as Mediterranean places go, this place is a gem. A big, huge portioned, yummy gem. The menu is not huge, which is just fine, because they offer everything you would be looking for in a place called Aladdin’s. We had gyros, and baba ganoush, and chicken shawarma, and tabouli and hummus and baklava. Not that we could eat the baklava at the restaurant. We were all so stuffed from our meal that the baklava traveled home for a late night snack. Everything was delicious and authentic. The service was great and we spoke with the owner before we left. He was super nice. Seems like your typical Mom & Pop establishment, serving up great food in a friendly, hole-in-the-wall type atmosphere. I should mention that there is no special«chicken tenders & French fries» kids menu, but even my extremely picky kid enjoyed. The chicken shawarma she was so skeptical about, was thoroughly enjoyed. — with no leftovers, not even a bite. Yep, we loved this place!
