This place has a lot of negative reviews, but I’ve had great experiences here. It’s a chain spa, so you have to keep that in mind, but the masseuses who I’ve had were great– they’ve been different and so had different pressures, techniques and would work for different people depending on preferences. Region is fantastic and really took the time to work on some really gnarly knots I had worked up after some surgeries. I think for what they charge, he experience is really good. I mean, how terrible can an hour of massage really be? My friend also had a facial there recently(granted it was her first facial anywhere) and she really enjoyed it as well.

I echo the reviewer who characterized his experience as «inconsistent.» Some massage therapists are superb. Others seem to have walked in, with no training of any kind, and put to work. This is not their fault; management needs to ensure consistent, high quality training and regular assessment of their«therapists.» On multiple occasions, I was tempted to get up and walk out of the middle of massage. They’ll jump from body part to body part, focus on areas you don’t want focused on, do this ridiculous tapping when you want long deep strokes for those isolated body parts that hurt. I could go on. I just cancelled my membership. Rather than getting monthly cheap and often poor quality massages, I’ll just go to a pricier place with trained professionals.(I’ve been getting massages for years, and my most recent massage at ME was the WORST of my entire life. I go here because of convenient hours and location. Alas, that is not enough to retain my membership at this point).

So as a disclaimer, I’m just going to say that this was my first massage experience ever(besides sitting on the massage chairs at Brookstone ha). So, I have nothing to compare it to. When I first got there, the girl at the front desk was nice, I felt really welcomed and comfortable with her and some other employees that happened to be in the front room who greeted me and offered me water or tea. My massage therapist was Marta. I told her it was my first time and she made the experience perfect. She guided me through everything so I wasn’t nervous or awkward. Her hands are magical! I felt so great after a looong stressful week. She focused on every single part of me with equal attention. It was more than I had expected for what a massage would be. Okay, so after the massage is where the fifth star is lost. I came here only because I had a gift card from my parents. The gift card was said to include a 1.5 hour massage AND a 25 $ tip. I didn’t bring anything with me except an extra 10 $ in case I really enjoyed my massage and wanted to give something extra(I did). However when I gAve them the card they said my tip came out to a grand total of… $ 3. I was horrified! I told them that the gift card included a full tip and they just shrugged and told me «prices changed». That makes no sense to me. But okay. I had to leave only 13 $ for a great service. I *might* have come back, but along with all these other horrible reviews, I completely trust that this company is full of crooks. So unfortunately I probably won’t be back.

If I were to sum up this location in one word it would be inconsistent. I’ve been here three times now with varying levels of success. I came in mid-October and despite it being an almost spur-of-the-moment decision(Called only an hour ahead), they were very accommodating. The therapist I had, Mary Anne, was an absolute delight. Would go back weekly for her if it was in the budget I went last week for my first 90 minute massage and was quite disappointed. The woman at the front desk was completely belligerent to another customer about paperwork and was giving off an awful vibe. As someone who has worked in their fair share of customer service jobs, I hate the«customer is always right“mantra, but it held true this time. Employee was unwarrantedly relentless. I come here to relax, and at these prices, I don’t want to be worried that I’m going to be snapped at. My therapist was someone different and she was okay, albeit a little quiet. Couldn’t tell if it was unfriendly or just her nature but that was alright. Massage could have been better but worked out the necessary kinks. New woman at the front desk after my massage was sweet, but VERY pushy about membership. I’ve noticed that time and time again with various locations. I’m sure they have corporate hounding them but it’s just a rude business practice. Also, the prices are absolutely outrageous. Now, I know a good massage won’t be cheap but there’s certainly no bang for your buck here. For the price paid, I would want double the time we get. Just a little sour on this location at the moment. Will try again but if I have one more negative experience, I will be searching out other establishments.

I am a Massage Envy member for over 6 years and have been to about 15 locations. I’m not sure what the other reviewers are complaining about. As a member if you are not clear with what you are scheduling the staff is not going to know. I have never had a problem transferring massages or getting account issues resolved. This location is clean, beautifully decorated, the staff is beyond friendly, therapists are great and there is a locker room right next door so if you want to take a shower after your service you can! There are a ton of restaurants right in walking distance, this location is great. Lisa, Moseline, Betsy and Vince have all given me great massages. I would totally recommend this Massage Envy to anyone.

First, let’s start off by saying how rude the management is in this place. I believe her name was Erica who I spoke with, who was so rude and nasty. From reading at the comments below, other people have had problems with her before. The management stinks in this place and she is the reason. Other then that, the place is wonderful.

I am very disappointed by the service I received from management. They did a bate and switch with us. We booked an appointment using one of my sisters extra massages(which she already paid for with her membership), and then when we went to pay, was charged a full price. I asked for a refund, explaining the situation and was told that my sister never made the arrangements(which she had), therefore I would now be on the hook for the full price. When asked to speak with the manager, we were told that the manager is never in, and does not return calls out of the store. I finally called back the following week, to my surprise, I got the manager! The manager never took any of the blame, saying it was my sisters responsibility to transfer the session, not theirs. I explained that we were never told that WE had to do the physical transfer. Had they verbalized with us the policy, we would have done just that. All in all, I just can’t believe that Erica and her team would treat prospective members and members this way. They handled this situation unprofessionally and turned what was suppose to be a relaxing day into a stressful one. It is a shame because I was going to sign up for membership. Do NOT use this Massage Envy, you’re better off spending your money elsewhere, where they treat their customers with respect.

i wasn’t impressed. the massageist(i believe that’s what we call them now) was a small, weak woman who delivered about a quarter of the pressure i asked for. prices are very high, $ 99 for an hour, and of course you have to consider a 20% minimum tip. their pitch for a membership is that you pay $ 59 for an hour — limited to one per month — but of course you’re still expected to tip at the $ 99 rate. there’s a placard in the massage room to remind you of this. the person trying to get my credit card for a membership didn’t seem to understand the concept of a «contract.» when i asked about how long the contract is she said it «never ends,» and explained a process for termination that sounded quite like a cable company, where you get charged for stopping service. when i pressed for details, she did say it’s 12 months, but to let it end at 12 months, you have to come in to sign a document, otherwise it automatically rolls over.

My friend and I went for massages at Massage Envy in New Brunswick(located within the RWJ Fitness center). This was my first time at a Massage Envy location, but not my first massage. The women at the front desk are very friendly, though a little pushy with membership, but I guess they have to meet their numbers. My friend is a member and enjoys her monthly massages. They were running a promo when I went so I got an hour long massage(actually 50 minutes) with an added aromatherapy for $ 50(plus tax and tip). Like all massage places, you fill out a medical history form and write if you have any pain/tension, then have a brief consult with your masseuse before they get started. I had a young gentleman whose name escapes me at the moment but he did a pretty good job. The room and lotion were kind of cold at first but it either warmed up or I got used to it. I asked for medium-strong pressure and it definitely hurt so good. I felt pretty relaxed after and wouldn’t mind going back if there was another promotion.
