once again, a phenomenal time was had with awesome central nj Unilocalers(plus Christian, who drove all the way up from cherry hill to join in on the sausagefest!) THANKYOU!!! wieners, wieners, wieners everywhere. what could be better? alligator sausage, chicken sausage, pork hot dogs, cantonese sausage, wild boar sausage… everything was deeeelish. seriously. Destination Dogs was the perfect place for a UYE– i wouldn’t hesitate to return with a large group. the staff were super cool to work with while making arrangements. Frank and Jimmy(the business parteners) were welcoming and gracious upon our arrival, even whipping up some to-die-for patatas ridiculas for us to munch on prior to the event starting. the waitresses were super friendly, quick, and accomodating… and they split all of our checks without issue. super cool of them. the wieners were off-the-charts delicious. i really wanted to try more, but i just couldn’t stuff any more in my mouth. the«bun mi» was divine. craft beer was flowing, so yay for social lube. it was great to see some new faces among the familiar ones, and i hope they all return again(unless john d scared them of…) we took over a corner of the bar as the event wound down. in true centraljerz UYE tradition, picklebacks were had(thanks CK!) and things got a little… interesting? serioulsy, this is the best crew to partayy with. i wish my migraine hadn’t caused me to miss the after-party, which i’m sure was a riot! if you haven’t hung with us yet, you’re missing out. just sayin.

So what can I say about yet another winner UYE here in CNJ that hasn’t been said time again. Always a blast. DD was the perfect back drop for this unique crew of food & spirit enthusiasts to cajole without getting escorted to the exit. At least I don’t think anyone was booted, I’m not completely sure after pounding multiple and I do mean multiple wonderful craft beers. My choice was the Oktoberfest which brought the proverbial pain(more so the next morning). I could go off about the dogs, but they rock big time. I vied for the traditional Coney Island and the not so traditional Alligator. Embrace the tongue to tummy dance while coating yee olé innards to optimize additional craft intake without the dreaded debaucherous slurring that can only be held off for just so long. No, nobody slurring that night… shhh! Amalia you did it again. Thank you and your boxum duo. You wouldn’t think it possible for virtual strangers(some more strange than others) to hang as if long time friends. And that’s what’s so wonderful about the people that actually embrace Unilocal. We all have communication in common and that’s what brought and will continue to bring amazingly exceptional individuals together to thoroughly enjoy time well spent. To live for, baby!

As always Amalia knows how to show everyone a good time. Another successful UYE! The destination dogs establishment was very friendly and accommodating for us rowdy Unilocalers. They even allowed separate bills. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Of course the piece de resistance was the food!!! I ordered the completo with truffle fries. I was overwhelmed by the amount of ingredients it had and the sheer size of the hotdog. I ordered it with the truffle fries which were just amazing! It was pure gluttony just trying to finish the whole meal on my own but I just couldn’t help myself. I will definitely come here again and try other things on their menu.

There were more wieners on display at DD“s last night than you could shake a… well… a wiener at. This was my second visit to DD’s but I have to say, the food quality, flavor & variety is now even better than it was during my first experience here. No doubt the gourmet dogs & sausages at DD’s are the best I have had in recent memory — maybe ever! Now it is possible that my senses were heightened and palate primed by the presence of THE coolest Unilocalers in NJ(and PA, Jerry). Oh, and the fact that DD’s now carries not one but TWO varieties of Gluteberg(GF) beer — from Canada, eh?. We came. We saw. We ate wieners. We ate more wieners. We ate truffle fries(holy crap were they good!). We ate homemade chips, sausages, and so on and so forth. You have to try the Bun Mi and the Chevas Royale — both incredible. If you are gluten intolerant, just ask the server and they’ll make sure you get a double wrapped soft corn tortilla, instead of a bun. Our servers took great care of us, and Jimmy fixed us up with some insanely good potato appetizers that caused one person in our group to remark that might just be his request for a last meal on Earth.(Marc, there’s still plenty of room in my basement. I’m just sayin’) So prior to this little CNJ Unilocal-fest, I had a bit of a rough week, but there is apparently no better salve for the soul than to hang out in NB with your Unilocal Elite homies. I think this much fun is probably illegal in Kansas and at least two other states. Lord knows the laughter began immediately upon arrival and didn’t end until I got good-night hugs from all the boys and the«Real Unilocal-wives of NJ» on the sidewalk outside. Once again, the Unilocal Goddess of CNJ, Amalia Y, choreographed a highly entertaining evening, gave us schwag(thanks Steph!) and made sure that newbies as well as seasoned veterans had a great time. Yes, a few of us might be nuttier than a porta-potty at a peanut festival, but you know what? We all had a blast. And if you join us next time, you probably will too.

There you have it. Another Central Jersey UYE in the history books. Everyone’s accounted for, and everyone lived. An incredibly fun time was had by all! So it’s pretty clear now who the sane and normal Unilocalers are, and who’s just plain batshit insane.(You know what side of that line you fall on.) Despite all the varying personalities, we managed to meld well together, all united in our love for homemade sausage. Ok, that didn’t come out right. But you get the picture. All joking aside, I couldn’t be more proud to be part of this little motley crew we’ve managed to form. You are all awesome! And an extra special thanks goes out to Amalia for organizing us all once again. Can’t wait until the next one!
