Wow the owner of this place is a real piece of work! IDIOT AWARD! No common sense, hard head, knuckle head!

Today I had lunch at Nancy’s with two year old twins. When ordering, I first noticed that an ordinary, absolutely, nothing special plain hot dog was $ 3.50 but I got past that. We finished lunch and I asked the cashier where the restroom was located and she told me in the back around the corner. As the twins and I were walking toward the back a man approached me and asked what I was looking for so I answered. He replied there were no public restrooms in the restaurant. I said but the cashier just directed me back here. He then said that no it was in the back near the kitchen and I could not use it. Okay, but then he told me the Subway across the street was open and seriously suggested I go across the street and ask them to use their restroom. There wasn’t another customer in the place. I’m not sure what the issue was but with the prices they charge, I’d think they could find a little extra money to clean up the place.

Best strawberry milkshake ever. Always look forward to this place when summertime comes around. Typically go to Stray Dog across the street then wander over to Nancy’s for the shake. A bit busy at times, but they work quickly.

located in the tourist area of downtown new buffalo michigan and walking distance to the beach… ice creams and shakes are good, with fresh fruits and ingredients… they pretty much can make any combinations of shakes you want even if it’s not on the menu… i can’t comment else on the other items they serve since I only get the ice creams and shakes when we come here… don’t bother eating inside since it’s very tight, just grab your food to go, find a bench along the sidewalk, and chow down while people watching…

This is a good lake front/​beach ice cream/​hot dog stand. We go here for lunch every time we’re in new buffalo. The hot dogs and polish sausages are good. Fries and onion rings are good.
The reason this restaurant gets 4 stars from me is the strawberry shake. It is delicious and has real chunks of strawberry in it.

Overpriced, but good ice cream overshadowed by a-​hole owner/​manager. 95 degrees and chastizes customers about using umbellas at his tables. Idiot.

Best Chicago Dogs and Strawberry Shakes in town!!! The Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches are also great– good flavor beef with soft French bread rolls. Served piping hot! Always a line for ice cream, shakes and food, so be prepared to wait a little bit. Totally worth it though. A must stop here location for all who visit New Buffalo.

My wife and I took a brief trip to New Buffalo in the middle of the week based on a recommendation from some friends. Nancy’s was right down the street from our hotel so we had to try it out. I saw the sign for Famous Strawberry Shakes and thought that that was probably just a gimmick because strawberry shakes aren’t anything special. So, I had to try one and I am a believer-​it was delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty and the strawberries had the right amount of tart and sweet. Also, the shake was creamy and there were plenty of delicious chunks of fruit. It had the perfect blend of milky and fruity.

Perfect location, delicious ice cream, and great outdoor seating.
I had the caramel turtle cheesecake ice cream, and HIGHLY recommend it. Delicious.
If you are looking for delicious ice cream in a beautiful town, this is your place!

For a tiny little corner ice cream stand/​food place this was great. Didn’t try the food, but they had so many ice cream flavors to choose from! Got the triple peanut butter and coconut cream ice cream. Triple peanut butter was mediocre but the coconut cream was one of the best I have ever had. Also they have 2 lines so if the line out front looks too long for you, remember that you can also order inside :)

Damn fine chocolate milkshake, perfectly drinkable right away thru an amazing oversized straw (a small detail that made a huge difference). Tasty enough that we ordered it two nights in a row. We found the price to be quite reasonable, under $ 4 for a small milkshake that probably was 16 oz. Service was totally fine, fast and friendly despite being pretty busy both nights.
Toddler factor: Super-​fat straw made drinking milkshakes easy, the kid loved ‘em. Several benches, lots of tables outside so you don’t have to worry about making a mess.

when i came back one evening after having patronized the store for two consecutive evenings the waitstaff admitted they had overcharged me so i had asked how they plan to make up for the difference. first i was told, «mistakes happen», and then another girl working behind the counter chimed in to say, «if you dont like it then you can buy your ice cream around the corner at oinks». at this point i figured the high school girls lacked thorough customer service training and i kindly asked to speak to the manager, at which point i was told, «he doesnt want to speak to you».
if the beach wasnt across the street i would have thought i was at the weiner circle!
1 star for rude service and 1 more star for a whopping 77 flavors!

Stopped in for ice cream and the famous strawberry shake. The ice cream was very good and they had a ton of selections. If you like having ice cream options, this is your place. I am quite fond of strawberry shakes and I have to say that I’ve had better, but it was still pretty good. I asked them why it was famous and they couldn’t give me an answer. It was still a mystery after drinking it.

I ordered 4 pizza puffs and got back to my hotel room to discover 3 in the bag (a 2 block walk). I also Ordered a bratwurst to be cut in half to share. They didn’t cut it in half and I had to rip it. 75 cents extra for hardly any sauerkraut. When I walked bag and complained, the teenage cashier was nonchalant. No apology.

1^st Strawberry Shakes are awesome, real strawberry chunks are key. 2^nd the burgers are great they butter then toast their buns so they have a little crunch, yum. 3^rd Dean is probably one of the nicest people to run a restaurant in New Buff. Lots of local kids working there just as a beach town spot should.

Never be dismayed by three stars, ever. You’ve got to go in with an open mind and a forgiving stomach. Nancy’s did not disappoint at all and it didn’t have to hit any high notes either!
We weren’t feeling very hungry but decided to split a burger anyway. What we got was great service and prompt warm, warm food. The portions were just right and the value was spot on.
I wish we had tried the ice cream as mentioned in the other reviews, but maybe on another trip. If you want a quick bit plus ice cream, for a decent price, you can’t go wrong with Nancy’s.

I hover between a 3 and a 4… We all came here for the ice cream, but they sell other stuff as well. Ice cream was pretty decent, and sizable portions especially if you got the waffle cones.
Here are my comments/​tips:
— I thought a single scoop on a sugar cone was kind of pricy ($ 3.70 w/tax)-is that the going rate for ice cream these days??? but they did give a decent amount of ice cream.
— No bathrooms for public use here. You gotta look elsewhere.
— Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
— Sell a wide variety of ice cream flavors among other eats here, and it’s a popular spot on a warm sunny day, so be prepared to wait in line.
— People are pretty friendly.
— I thought the ice cream was pretty decent.

This place has the best strawberry milkshake I’ve ever had, so thick with chunks of strawberry that you can chew it and have to suck it up with one of those big fat straws. Haven’t tried the actual food yet. The big drawback to this place is that the kids manning the counter are pretty casual about opening up on time and could use some training in customer service.

I enjoyed my amaretto cherry shake. I didn’t try the food, but was pleased with the ice cream and the shakes. The line got long after I ordered, but if you time it well, you can get your ice cream quickly. There is an outside line for just ice cream and treats and the inside line is if you want a hot dog or whatever. Enjoy!
