This is a great ice cream shop! I had a great shake,$ 6.25 and worth it, about 16 to 20 ounces in there, and the service was superfast, which is amazing in itself, considering the lines were going out the door. Incredible kitschy décor, with about 200 old ice cream scoops of every possible design on the ceiling, as well as antique ice cream shop stuff all over the whole interior. Very well decorated and its desserts are bang-on. A great stop after a hot day at Lake Michigan.

Very busy when we we got there but staff was incredibly efficient. Also, anything that serves Sherman’s ice cream gets an automatic five stars. Absolutely delicious!

Best ice-cream shop ever! 1. they have the cutest indoor deco. 2. Staff are really friendly and you can definitely ask for samples to try. 3. They serve Sherman’s ice cream!!! and serving 58 flavors ice-goodies: eg. ice-cream, sorbet, and frozen-yogurt. Lots of unique flavors: blackberry, bubble gum, Georgia peach, super man(mix of blue moon, lemon, and some kinda of berry flavor!) It’s super freshing and has mood-brightening colors: D I hope they can open one in Chicago though. BTW, its CASHONLY!

Great flavors to choose from! Cost isn’t as inflated like other ice cream places in tourist areas. Whether you stop by or eat on the property, this is definitely a spot to get some good ice cream. Try the cinnamon ice cream!

OINK’S! This is a childhood classic. My grandparents used to take me every summer when I’d visit them in Indiana… and frankly they still do when I’m in the region. I see people on here being unhappy about prices but A) New Buffalo is a touristy town in summer, it’s to be expected and B) you’re paying for the novelty that is Oink’s and the amazing ice cream. I’m not saying that makes it okay at all, but hey… consider those aspects! There’s no doubt in my mind that you are obligated to stop here on a summer afternoon walking around charming New Buffalo or heading to the beach. The flavors! This is one of the only places I know of where I can still get bubble gum ice cream. The New York Cherry is also a favorite, not gonna lie. I absolutely adore this place and it’s eccentricity… everything’s covered in pig themed novelties. The lines get crazy, but I say it’s worth it.

I must say this place has some amazing homemade tasting ice cream, scoops are huge, upon arrival place was packed since his place opens seasonal and closes during the winter, very old school decorated, outside sitting, makes you feel like home and ambiance is very inviting. Please note cash only. Place was very clean they also had different flavors to choose from and I don’t believe this place has restrooms, parking is very small but how yummy ice cream is. Worth the wait. Will return next time I’m in the area.

Really expensive, for 4.25 I barely got a scoop, at our Cooks fairy farm three people can split a cup for 4 bucks that’s how huge it is. Don’t like being ripped off like that. In addition only regulars would know how the ticket system works, but visitors can’t tell what’s going on and get pushed by those that been there before. Gotta be aggressive in that place. If I lived in that area I could not spend that much money every few weeks.

I used to love coming here when I was a kid. We used to take border runs from Illinois to Michigan all the time, and my dad would stop the car here to get me to shut up awhile on the way home by shoving ice cream in my face. And it would totally work. Coming back in adulthood wasn’t as satisfying as my childhood nostalgia. It’s okay. I love the décor of the place. It’s a tiny little ice cream parlor jam packed tail to snout with pigs. Signs, statues, stuffed animals, banks. They have it all. The ceiling is pretty cool too, it’s covered in all different kinds of ice cream scoopers. You also can’t miss it from the outside, as it’s painted bright piggy pink and teal. But the actual product is mediocre. They serve Sherman’s ice cream, which is okay. There’s nothing special about it, just another brand like Edy’s or Breyer’s. They have a lot of flavors to choose from though, and they include fat free and no sugar added options. I got a scoop of Mackinac Island Fudge, because when in Michigan, do as the Michiganders. It was good enough. It was a bit overpriced but not totally outrageous at $ 5. It’s also a nightmare in the peak summer season. It’s a small space and it’s always jam packed, and people don’t seem to realize that no, they don’t accept credit cards, or how a number system works. It’s hard to manage a look at the ice creams, or move at all really. It’s worth coming in here to get a bit of a retro throwback and to look at all the cool memorabilia, but there’s better parlors around.

You’ve got to go to Oink’s if you’re in New Buffalo! I had zero room in my stomach for ice cream but somehow I found room for Oink’s, and my stomach has never been happier. The shop is ridiculously decorated with pigs of every shape, size, and medium and walking in you feel like you’re entering an episode of «Hoarders-Pig Lover’s Edition». But one taste of the ice cream and you forget you’re surrounded by pigs and give into the delectable creamy sweetness. I think it’s safe to say that any of the flavors here are good but I can personally vouch for the black cherry and strawberry-both were excellent! The perfect vacation ice cream spot-be sure to visit Oink’s on your next trip to New Buffalo.

This is arguably the best ice cream shop I’ve been to, in Michigan or otherwise! Huge variety of flavors, which is of course a pro and a con if you’re as indecisive as I am. There’s a really wide variety of chocolate/fudge/vanilla flavored ice creams, which are always my favorite. Waffle cones are fresh, and the shop in general is very cute. They have tons of pig items in the windows which are always cute to look at. I believe it is cash only, so go prepared!

This spot is a MUST-visit anytime I’m out in Harbor Country. The building is so small & charming, with old school ice cream ingredient containers & scoops everywhere. You really get the feeling this place has been there for ages. The ice cream itself? You can practically taste the love that goes into it. Nothing tastes artificial or cheaply made. I still dream about their chocolate cake batter. And don’t be intimidated by the long lines, it’s well worth it & moves surprisingly fast. Also, hit the ATM beforehand. Oink’s is cash only.

Growing up, I used to love coming here with the family. Nothing beats a scoop of frozen ice cream on a hot summer’s day. My most recent visit, reminded me why it’s been a while since I’ve stopped by here. As soon as we walked in the door I felt like I had walked into a circus or a zoo. On one side of the glass, children with their noses pressed up to the glass so you can’t even see the flavors; on the other side of the glass, an abundance of underworked, bored employees. There is no organization here. The attempted system is simple, in theory– you take a number and place your order when called. Sounds easy enough, right? If there was any room to see all of the flavor options available, and you didn’t have to weave between screaming, whiny children just to maybe place your order while trying not to lose the employee taking your order, this would work. There’s just too much going on; this place is a mess. Squeezing a few seats in here doesn’t help either… Now for the ice cream itself… Overpriced and nothing special. For the $ 5 I paid for one scoop of Moose Tracks, I could have paid $ 1 more and gotten 1.5 quarts at the grocery store just down the road. They went all-out with the pig theme– from the parking lot, to the décor. It’s a quaint little tourist trap, but that’s about it. If you’ve got a lot of cash(they don’t accept plastic; cash or checks only), nostalgia, and are looking for a scoop, this place is for you. Otherwise, you’d be better off checking out one of the other local ice cream shops, or hitting up the ice cream section of the local grocery.

Great little place with a retro feel! Good ice cream and a big selection of flavors. They don’t accept cards but there is an ATM located right inside the shop. I paid $ 5 for a waffle cone that didn’t have a particularly big portion of ice cream, so I’d say it’s a little overpriced. However, it’s good quality ice cream and worth a try! Plenty of options for everyone to find something they’d like.

I’ve got nothing but love for this New Buffalo gem. The ice cream is so good. My favorite is the Yellow Cake Batter, served up in a waffle cone. Price is a little bit on the steep side, but this is quality ice cream and often times you get what you pay for. Definitely a must stop when you’re in New Buffalo.

I wish I could pack Oink’s in my suitcase to take home from vacation. Went here twice during our one week visit, and enjoyed it immensely each time. Love the ice cream scoopers decorating the ceiling, and best of all, the number system for ordering. Similar to a deli counter, don’t forget to grab a number on your right when you come in the door. There is a bathroom for customers, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. The only room for improvement that I can think of is that the menu was a bit unclear/hard to read. It looks like it has been the same for decades, so maybe that could be modernized a bit. Ice cream like this is hard to find! If it’s not super busy, ask for samples so you can try more flavors.

Great ice cream place with a décor that is hard to describe. Oink’s has piggy stuff all over the walls and windows. Over the years the owners collected pig salt and pepper shakers, pigs driving cars, model pigs, pig games … you get the idea — it is pig-a-mania. And that is the reason it is named Oink’s. But for just ice cream, this is a nice stop. One of the nice things about this place is the number of offerings — usually at least two dozen flavors. Mix and match brings the possibilities off the wall. We usually go here after getting a hamburger at Redamak’s Tavern down the street. The sweet at Oink’s balances the salty at Redamak’s. This visit our threesome had New York Cherry and Cotton Candy Confetti… Chocolate…and Peppermint Stick and Mint Chocolate Chip. There are a few tables inside and outside, so you can eat where the weather fits. They also have a fudge store connected to the ice cream building. The owner also has a 1929 vintage car stored in the garage behind the store — the garage door is usually open so you can peek in at the antique. All-in-all this is a fun stop on a round the lake tour or just on a weekend drive to New Buffalo.
