Hampton, Iowa, must be a hard place to keep a restaurant. I needed a place with a good meal without being rushed for a business lunch. We met at the Pinican, which was closed, then to the Mexican place which had gone under. Next we chanced into this cool place. It is everything you would expect from a small town locally owned restaurant. The food though basic was delicious and the service was absolutely perfect. This is a nice place for a business lunch or a family outing. I had the French onion soup, which was delicious, and a Reuben sandwich which was excellent. The prices are fair and the ambience is hometown.

Best restaurant green beans evah! They had bits of smoked pork in them. They did not appear to be canned(frozen?), and done just right. One star off for the processed turkey slice, but the mashed potatoes were great.

Typical fryer to basket food. Nothing special about it. Service slow and sometimes rude. However, there isn’t much else in the town so it’s usually busy. Don’t order wine. Asked what kind of red’s they had, decided on a pinot noir. Subsequently got a glass of pinot grigio and an argument from the bartender(owner) who insisted it was pinot noir and that pinot noir was indeed a white.

Excellent! Great service — helpful and friendly. Wonderful atmosphere. And the deep fried pork fritter sandwich? To. Die. For. Hearty fare at VERY reasonable prices. Great selection of beers. Recommended.

Great burger and soup for lunch. The service/kitchen were a tad slow, but it looked like they had a large group using the banquet space on that particular day. So I suspect that most days are not like that. The burger was worth the tiny wait :)
