Dr Vinciguerra and staff were awesome. I had a crown fall out on a Saturday afternoon and was told to come in immediately. Dr V fixed my crown temporarily and explained what other work might need to be done. He was professional, friendly and took his time with me. First time I’m actually looking forward to my next appointment with a dentist! Thank you, Dr V and your wonderful staff, for taking me in so quickly and calming my frayed nerves.

My mother doesn’t believe in dentists. No one ever took me to the dentist in my first 24+ years of existence, and teeth are a fickle thing. So you can imagine that I was nervous about going to one to begin with — I wasn’t pleased when I did, but I needed oral surgery. The surgeon was wonderful, though expensive( ), but the first dentist I ever went to scared me, made me uncomfortable, and told me I needed 10 serious fillings right away and that insurance probably wouldn’t cover it and I’d need to pay several hundred, and it was imperative that I get braces because my teeth were a mess. That’s the kind of behavior that kept my mother away from dentists(«They’ll ruin your teeth because they just want to take your money! You don’t need one!»). It’s possible that functionally the straightness of my teeth is not optimal, but visually it’s fine, and I’ve never had a problem with my bite, so this threw me off. Needless to say, I was unhappy with the situation, and reluctant to visit him out of distrust and fear of physical and monetary pain from all that work. So I didn’t. Fastforward to a year later, some idle wisdom tooth soreness, and my requisite complaints, earned me annoyance from the boy and a patient referral to his dentist, Dr. Huh, out in Long Island. He said he liked him, and that«He’s perfect for someone who’s afraid of the dentist.» Weeks(perhaps months) later, I finally went in for an appointment. I learned a few things: the previous dentist hadn’t taken a full set of X-rays despite billing insurance for it; cleanings shouldn’t be extremely painful — but there is some bleeding; what tooth polish is; that I didn’t have 10 cavities that needed fillings — I had 4 or 5, and I could do them in shifts, broken up by quadrant; and I didn’t hear a peep about braces or disastrous alignment. Dr. Huh speaks to me like I’m 5 years old, which is probably not how he speaks to Scott, but I appreciate it: it’s never patronizing, and always kind. He answers all my questions patiently, which is impressive since I doubt many of his patients in their mid-twenties were as clueless as I was about dental visits and procedures. For me, my favorite thing about him is that he can administer a Novocaine shot without any pain and very little pressure… and I’m a huge baby when it comes to needles, especially one being injected into my gum when with a little numbing gel. You always feel it! Until Dr. Huh. The Silverstein/Vinciguerra practice uses only the tooth-colored fillings, and I haven’t had any issues with them from the days I got any of them to now. Dr. Huh filled all my cavities carefully and took his time, and just two weeks ago at my 6-month checkup said everything still looks good, even though he originally hadn’t been sure 2 of them would take. Well done, sir! You saved me from a root canal, for now. Now it’s on me to sustain it… I haven’t been flossing as much as he asked, but I am trying(he’ll show you the best way)…and he’s probably little disappointed that I didn’t use my referrals for more oral surgery since the wisdom tooth is still trying to shove its way out and might very well ruin my alignment. He was slightly more stern this time, but wrote me new referrals and wished me well until the next 6-month visit. I’ve had 2 cleanings here by now, both of them only as uncomfortable as the discomfort of having to keep your mouth open for an unnaturally long time. The polish makes me smile all day since my teeth become so shiny, and minty. The assistants are also capable, friendly, and gentle, whether it be assisting you with X-rays or suctioning the hell out of your drooly, wet mouth during a cleaning or filling. Additionally, from what I can tell, they’re honest about what procedures are medically necessary and which would be purely cosmetic — it turns out not all cracks actually need to be fixed, because sometimes the process of fixing it might further weaken the structure of the tooth(the more you know).

I use to go to the office when I was a child. When I moved back to NY I thought I’ll go back it’s a little far to drive but I trust them — NOPE — I WILLNEVERGOBACKAGAIN! I had a small divet in my tooth they said they would fill just so i would NOT get a cavity. I came back had the procedure and then I got billed a lot of money. I thought it odd specially because I didn’t even use Novocaine… so I called to inquire prior to sending the money. I was told they filled 3 large cavities!!! I explained there must be a mistake I had no cavities no less 3. I was told I was wrong, a doctor would not make a mistake like that. A month of calling and receiving no calls back from the person I was told I needed to talk to and they would call me… finally I got a hold of the billing manager and they changed me $ 18(still don’t know what that’s for) but $ 18 and i figured I would be done with them forever. NOSUCHLUCK! I have since received the bill 3 more times and had to do this whole process over and over. The last time the girl actually remembered me and just said she would write it off… she doesn’t know what is going on and why this bill keeps coming back. (For the record I always receive a new bill when said and done that says I owe nothing) Moving on… when I find a Dentist office I like I’ll review them too
