Loved this place. Beautiful, but not stuffy. Wonderful wines too. Worth the trip! Recently added great pairing options.

New Kent has a great chardonnay, and that’s about where the highlights end. Service is average, bottles are somewhat pricey along with small metered pours for tastings. Not a terrible experience, just nothing I would recommend over others in the area.

The new owners of the winery have totally changed the facility and it is now not very welcoming, nor are you allowed to bring your own food which the two other New Kent County wineries encourage. After enjoying the winery frequently under the previous owners, visitors expect the same ambience and hospitality and also to be permitted to snack on their food from home. Very different and a little off-putting now. Also the gift shop was removed which is a shame as well. We are not at the winery to hear the owner’s family history incessantly either. It is not«all good» as we heard at least 20 times while sharing a bottle of wine with friends.

We first came here a year ago and really enjoyed it, so we decided to make a stop here each time we’re headed out, along I64. They consistently have great service, the wines are pretty nice and the grounds are immaculate! The owner is very friendly and offers discounts to public safety professionals, which is also great considering that so many don’t like to do this. If you’re in the area and can only visit one winery, make it this one!

Returned yesterday with seven ladies total. There were open parking spaces and New Kent Winery was significantly less crowded than my initial visit. The owner greeted us a the door as we walked in and was very friendly. This was a vast improvement over my last visit. Our large group was accommodated quickly and with ease. Several in our group are not sweet wine drinkers, and the woman pouring graciously allowed them to retaste a wine more suited to their tastes in lieu of the Sweet Virginia. We brought our own snacks this time and had a great afternoon chatting over our bottles of wine(Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, Meritage) on the patio. Much better vibes on this visit, and I would certainly return again. I’ll give NKW the benefit of the doubt and say that they were overwhelming busy on my last visit.

Oh no… is this wine? On an afternoon where I was hoping to turn a rainy day to a wonderful wine day out, New Kent happened to destroy any hope of giving me real wine. Instead what they peddle is sweet, mass-market, left-over swill in the ranks of «skinny girl and party girl» so-called ‘wineries.‘ They had only 2 bold reds out a tasting of 8 – 10, with the rest full of sugary ‘strawberry’ notes. No I do not want my wine to taste like Lilly Pulitzer’s afternoon tea party, I want it to taste like wine. If you want a sommelier to rank their wines… see here: Add to the fact that this winery is part of a corporate housing development, all the allure of a winery goes towards a failed post-great recession development with eery lots with dead end streets. Don’t waste your time. Drink something from Total Wine out in a field.

Today was a beautiful day to go to a winery! So New Kent winery has been in my list for quite a while!, well we barely made it there right before closing time and even that we were able to do the whole tasting. About their wines, yeap very good very flavorful and the staff was very courteous and charming! Defiantly would come back!

Boyfriend and I stopped by here on a whim since he had never been and I knew this winery wasn’t too far off the highway. The winery is in a developing part of New Kent where there shows promise for a possible Town Center and more neighborhoods in the area. We arrived at the tasting room and to my surprise, quite a difference in how it looked from the last time I had visited. The place has more seating inside and out. The patio area has now been established in the back. The place(finally) serves an array of platters that include cheese and meat to enjoy as you drink their wines. This was all happened recently due to ownership of the place as I found out. We decided on doing a tasting/tour(~$ 10). We got to try several wines that started off with the whites to red, with a grand finale of a sweet red dessert wine. The tasting comes with the stemless glasses that you try your wines in. It’s a nice addition to my wine glasses as most of mine are stemmed. We never got a tour of the place — a bit odd since it was listed as «tasting/tour.» I had been on a tour before so I didn’t make it a big deal, but my boyfriend would have enjoyed it. Overall, I love the improvements the new owners have done to the place. I definitely want to come back to enjoy wine out on the new patio. The place is also pet friendly so long as your dog is friendly.

We stopped at this winery on the way back to Northern VA from Williamsburg. This a nouveau classy winery. Their wines are mostly rose or white. They create rose or white wines from red grapes by removing the skins from their processing. The tastings where $ 8 for 6 wines which included the glass. They used metering stoppers to pour the wines. The amount provided for tasting was smaller than most wineries. Their tasting room did not not offer any food. I would recommend visiting this winery but I will probably try other wineries before returning here.
