Meh. The burritos were mostly filled with beans, not a ton of meat and he slopped some sour cream on the outside. There were only two things on the menu so I politely asked if he had anything else, which he rudely answered and then throughout our entire interaction he made it seem like I shouldn’t even be ordering from him. Given the quality of the food, not worth the hassle.

Brandito’s is legit… the tacos are excellent no matter what, he’s never fucked up my special requests(which is pretty amazing because I hate onions and cilantro and it’s led to a lot of ruined meals for me) and that man made me The Best Burrito I Ever Had Ever… pineapple pork, jalapenos and bacon. Are you kidding me? Besides, where else you gonna get french fries on your taco when you’ve got the drunchies? No it’s cool, I’ll wait. Side note to anyone who’s complained about Brandito’s demeanor: I mean… are you SURE you weren’t being a douche? Cause he’s never been anything but ridiculously sweet to me, and I ain’t even that cute(but I definitely know how to tip). I holler back to him and he pops out and smiles and asks me what I want, and even runs that shit outside to me if I go out to smoke. Brandito is a sweet baby angel and St. Roch’s own benevolent provider of delicious grub.

That pineapple pork is soon good. It’s like eating at your buddy’s. You know the one that you know will make you awesome food after a long night out. That one.

I love burritos. I love that this establishment is close to where I live so I can have my cravings satiated whenever I want. First things first, you have to find this place. And if you are unfamiliar, it could be a little bit tricky! Go into the St. Roch Tavern. Branditos is in a little room to the right and almost behind the bar area. Read the menu. Do not hollar until you are ready. Have your cash ready when you order, cash only. It is a little«soup nazi-esque». Be nice, if you aren’t nice, no burrito for you. Wait. Enjoy! There are several options of meat to choose from, I enjoy the pineapple pork. A little sweet but not too sweet. Pairs nicely with a cold corona from the St. Roch Tavern, which I believe is $ 3(?). Burrito I think is $ 8. Quesadillas and tacos are on the menu as well. It is a good sized burrito and you can add on chips and salsa or guac or rice and beans if you are super hungry. I have yet to try the breakfast items but they look delicious. Maybe this weekend?

This place is neeeever open. I have tried five times, both calling and visiting the place. 7pm, 11pm, nope, never open. So I’ll give it a three stars because I haven’t actually tried it and don’t want to kill their rating. But come on guys, get it together.

I have a like-dislike for this place. Those the menu is limited I think it tastes pretty good. Not the absolute bestie in Nola. The chips and Pico are greasy with seafood seasoning topped. I know because I use the same seasoning at home. The chips are too greasy with unevenly topped seasoning. It’s my first check in but I’ve been here many times. The 3 taco deal is good for the price. Greasy but I think it still tastes good. The fillings are always limited though. Always out of something. The bartender is sweet. The petite 30−40something year old lady. Really nice. But the waiter/“cook” isn’t all that great professionally. The petite guy with bandana. He usually have an attitude. Few days I caught him being nice though. It’s a hole in the wall joint. 95% of the time they play rock music, lots of biker, hikers, and musicians frequent the place. Could be better especially the waiter attitude. But eh when I’m not close to home and starving I come here.

Don’t catch Brandito of Brandito Burritos on a bad day he can be brisk n impatient n downright rude but it appears he does everything from conception to delivery all on his own which might account for the bad mood! If you catch his blondish co worker your in luck he’s very efficient & pleasant to deal with! The menu is hard to navigate when it comes to the tacos and Brandito is regularly out of all kinds of things including basics so be willing to try the pineapple cabbage topping it’s actually damn good. I have to recommend the tacos you get 3 for $ 6 mix n match your meats & toppings but don’t ask Brandito to surprise you he looks even grumpier when you say this :( The seven layer burrito excellent and only $ 7 bucks Queso & w delicate homemade chips a great little bar accompany to drinks at the bar(this place is located in the fabulously smoky, punk rock tavern known simply as St Roch) All and all this place is a bonus for the hood and right off St Claude & I gotta recommend their food its freaking delicious… I’m beginning to really crave this home style Mexican!!!

Good menu and daily specials are available. It’s cash only. Guacamole, «huevos brancheros» and tacos were very good. It’s a simple place with good food at good prices and great service. Be prepared if a band is playing at the bar… it can be loud. We didn’t mind.

Pretty good! Weird little spot inside of St. Roch Tavern but the food is good. Guacamole could be a lot better. And honestly I don’t think there is any good mexican food in New Orleans… unfortunately…coming from California originally I’ve been on the hunt for something equivalent. But this place is good just not as as good as I had hoped.

The food taste amazing for the price. The big problem with bandito is you never know what you’re going to get. Because I like to get what I order, I’m staying away from this place, because the last time I ordered there. I ordered a chicken burrito and got beef chicken, rabbit and beans. I avoid consuming mammals, so that burrito made me ill. The«cook» apologized, but I don’t trust it. SMH because I would like to able to trust this place, the manager doesn’t know.

I have mixed feeling about this place and St. Roch tavern in general. The good: there’s a a bartender that can sing like Wynonna Judd and she likes to play The Judd’s and on Sundays there’s an old country cover band and she usually gets up and belts a few numbers. The food is cheap. It’s $ 6 for three tacos with a side of rice and beans. The bad: it smells like crusties and cigarette smoke and they’re used to dealing with a cheap a** clientele so there are signs everywhere letting you know that you won’t get hot sauce/condiments if you don’t tip(lol). The side of rice and beans is weird. It’s in a two ounce container like what you would normally get a side of salad dressing in. Tastes kinda like Popeye’s red beans and rice.(Not sure if that is necessarily part of «the bad» but it isn’t the best). At the end of the day, it’s worth the price. I usually get pork mole and avocado. Used to get steak and avocado but I think they took steak off the menu. It seems as though every time I go back they don’t have one of the ingredients I really liked. OH also all three tacos have to be the same kind. Kind of a bummer for a person like me who enjoys variety(or maybe everyone enjoys that, right?) Check it out if you live in the neighborhood and need a cheap bite. If I were closer to Juan’s or Felipe’s, I might go there first.

Truly the best Mexican food in New Orleans. You can really taste how passionate the chef is about the food he cooks!

The tacos are really legit in comparison to some other Taquería’s in the area. They’re not too salty, which is a reoccurring issue with tacos these days apparently and the atmosphere at Brandito’s and St. Roch Tavern is great and divey. Definitely would recommend for an inexpensive and delicious meal.

I just moved nearby and I’ve been here twice and both times I loved it so much. I love dive bars, and though I’ve quit smoking, there’s nothing like going into a smoky one, ordering a cheap beer from a punk rock beauty queen, and heading into the restaurant alcove. So far I’ve had the burrito and the enchiladas. Pork mole is bangin’. Basic American idea of Mexican but it is really delicious and as gourmet as bar cuisine gets before you head into the more sophisticated/orchestrated/freaky stuff that costs more than you expect it to and is way daintier than acceptable for the kind of night you’re having. The guy who isn’t Brandito has been there both times I’ve been and he is so sweet and hospitable. It’s cheap so no excuse not to tip extra. These are good folks.

So. This place has awesome food. Even though it’s not technically associated with the bar, you’ve got to go in through the bar, order drinks from the bar, and expect the same level of service. It’s cash only, pay when you order, and open til 12A Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon. But it’s so good. I’d like to think I know what good Mexican food tastes like, having lived in Texas for years. I can definitely say that New Orleans had been lacking on the Mexican food front in the past several years, and I wish I had known about this place sooner. I normally don’t like mole, but the pork mole tacos my friend got were incredible. I had chicken enchiladas, also amazing. You should try this place. They also do to go.

The food at this Mexican restaurant nestled in St. Roch tavern is amazing. Banditos presents the best quesadilla I’ve ever had and I’ve had many! I had tender and juciy steak and jalapenos as my two additions and that was a great choice. The quesadilla also came with cheese, of course, and pico de gallo. All together it was absolutely amazing. I added a side of crema and some rice and beans. The beans are creamy and delicious but they were severed together in a tiny bowl, there portion was small, considering how delicious they were. The best deal here is the three tacos for five bucks. You get to choose two toppings/meats and it comes with onion and cilantro. Adding rice and beans is $ 1 more. Everything I’ve had its delicious. Three place itself is about what you expect to find in bar in St. Roch, but they do a decent job of dressing things up. They are open Thursday though Sunday from 3 pm-10pm according to the menu.

Don’t go to the bywater/marigny if you dont know what you are doing. very gritty bar. i am a standard middle class white guy so i stuckout but it was all good. very chill dirty gritty punky bar. i love those places. neighborhood people getting a drink with Danzig being played on the jukebox and a side room for bandito’s. these are definitely my favorite types of bars. not only did i love the bar itself but i thought the food was awesome too. i live within walking distance of Juan’s Flying Burrito(awesome) and Felipe’s(fast food) but I would much rather go to Bandio’s. Cheaper than Juan’s but better in my opinion. Small menu but it was really really good. I go the burrito which was toasted all around and it was awesome. we also got the enchiladas and they were super awesome too. burrito is average portion but the enchiladas was a big serving. both really really good with different meats to put in it. they have taco specials but i personally hate corn tortillas so i didnt bother trying them. kitchen is open late on saturdays(1am). i would go back in a heartbeat.

On a cold chilly night in NOLA our air b’n’b host recommended checking grabbing tacos at the local dive bar. Tucked to the side in an annexed room the random assortment of furniture didn’t inspire much confidence but we thought we’d give it a go and can I just say that this is one example of not judging a book by its cover. The service was impeccable. Even though they were about to close our friendly server bought us an extra taco and whipped up some seconds even though they were low on ingredients. The pork mole was our favourite and we tried it with bacon and then again with avocado. The tacos were so good that even though we were in a city with a vast array if delicious good options we managed to go back twice in 5 days.

A BRANDITO’S BAEDEKER! Like most local back-of-bar grills, there are arcane procedures and curious enigmas: 1. LOCATION: not as remote as it seems, 1 block behind the St Claude Rally’s. 2. WHERE’S THERESTAURANT? inside the St. Roch Tavern, veer right at the bar. 3. WHAT’S TOEAT? to the left of the archway is a small table with current menus. 4. HAVECASH(ONLY) INEXACTAMOUNT&READY! you pay upon ordering. 5. HOLLA’ BACK! if no one’s there at the small credenza to the right of the menus. 6. SMOKING, SOBESTTOORDERTAKE-OUT but bring your own queso container! 7. DEFINITIVEHOURS: 3PM — 10PM, MON to WED; ’til Midnight THU to SUN. 8. SUPERFOOD, GREATPRICES, BUTMENUSEEMSTOCHANGE; Best of: — 3 Tacos $ 5: in bacon, pork molé, beef, chorizo, steak, cheese, beans, or veggies; — 2 Enchiladas $ 10: with beans & rice; choice of steak, pork molé, beef, or chicken; — El Pachanga $ 11: 7 layer burrito, in choice of meat, topped with queso, crema, pico; — Queso & Chips $ 6: huge portion, flavorful & splittable for 2 or 3!(Salsa & Chips $ 4).

This is by far the best mexican food in the city. The secret ingredient appears to be… wait for it… bacon. Yum. But seriously, ya’ll. I found the cool mohawk’d chef from Eat that used to make all the delicious things there! Except now he’s the cool moustache’d chef who has the food side of St. Roch’s Tavern. He’s definitely on the way to making a name for himself on his own. Hurray! I’ve been there twice this week– initially on recommendation from a friend. After that, I just found myself craving something amazing and I got it. A true double whammy. First impressions: Let the sidewalk sandwich boards draw you into St. Roch’s tavern. I had an admittedly hard night of partying after returning to NOLA for the first time in a couple years. I sat down, feeling queasy, and said I wanted the hangover to go away. Brandito himself told me I wanted his enchiladas. Now usually, I’m super-skeptical of Enchiladas. I mean, I borderline don’t like them because there is usually something off. The tortilla is dry or the filling is too one-note and it’s just lackluster. But the chef here was confident, and even promised me an egg to make it more breakfast-y. Holy. Cow. He was spot-on. These are the best enchiladas I’ve had-probably ever– and I’ve roadtripped all over the southwest. There was meat, cheese, peppers, onions, and salsa verde all buried under an egg, sunny-side up egg that appeared on my friend’s huevos rancheros as well, equally perfectly done. Definitely the hand of a talented, practiced chef. The sides were brilliant. Refried beans that were beautiful and delicate in texture and flavor, while still being intrinsically mexican cuisine. Rice that was flavorful but fluffy rather then weighed down by greasy. The whole meal was enough to make you swoon. I may have swooned. But I definitely finished my entire plate. I have overlooked the special that I enjoyed as an appetizer. See the pictures of the grilled avocado with with blackened shrimp? The title alone should have you excited. There was pico. There was cilantro-lime sour cream(which is an all-important difference). There were home-made, fresh fried tortilla chips. Oh my. There are no words. It tasted as good as it looked. And it was only 5 bucks. Stay tuned for my update re: The Hotdog special with avocado, bacon, and pico. Again, amazing, but after reliving my first time at Brandito’s, I need a break and possibly a cold shower. You’ve gotta check it out. Hours are 12:00 — 3:00 and 5:00– 10ish(weekend exceptions not included– he’ll hang around for customers). 7 days a week.
