Claiborne Mansion

Loved my visit to the Claiborne Mansion the minute I pulled into the driveway! (Call Miss Cleo when you pull in out front and she will open the gate for you)
The back yard is an oasis. I have no other words for it. Shady, cool, breezy and beautiful with the tinkling water of the pool as a backdrop. Comfy bed and six pillows were a plus for this pillow snob!
I had a suite in the back garden with a sitting room and bedroom overlooking the pool.
If you want privacy, peace and quiet this is the place to be. It is a two minute walk to the music, food and nightlife of Frenchman street. 10 minutes more to the craziness of Bourban St.
My preference is the 15 min walk to the French Market, Central market for a muffuletta and Café du Monde for beignets!

This place seems fantastic. Looks just great. And then you call and talk to the proprietor, Cleo, who says «Why yes, we have just the room for you! I’ll email you the information!»
So, excited that you’ve found the perfect accommodation for your New Orleans trip, you dump the Airbnb places you spent hours looking for and wait for Cleo’s email.
And nothing.
So you call again.
Nothing.
Then you email. Twice.
Nothing…
Disappointed and insulted, you try one last phone call and leave a message, which is never returned. LAME.
You go back to book one of the Airbnb places you found.
But they’re all gone.
Thanks for nothing, rude and thoughtless Cleo.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a wonderful three night stay at the Claiborne Mansion. The mansion itself is beautiful and our room was spacious and clean. The area it’s located in is safe, trendy, and within walking distance to great restaurants and bars. It is also within walking distance to the French Quarter but yet far enough away from the touristy stuff and chaos. Cleo (the owner) is a great hostess as well and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. I will definitely be recommending The Claiborne Mansion to friends and family in the future!

My girlfriends and I stayed here last year for 4 days during the Jazz Festival and I simply cannot imagine a better place to hang my hat in the Big Easy. I love the Claiborne for the luxurious and comfortable accommodations, ideal location off Frenchman Street, and… Oh, Lord, The Divine Salt-​Water Swimming Pool.
As an added bonus, the Innkeeper, Ms. Cleo, is a lovely lady who was unbelievably helpful, kind, and generous during our stay. She has the scoop on all the stuff you’ll want to do, how to get there, where to eat, etc. Her New Orleans laissez-​faire demeanor is so infectious, you will feel relaxed as soon as you cross the threshold of this great house.
The history of the place is interesting, but the Mansion has been so beautifully restored, it is truly a luxury to stay here. I’m pretty sure the bathroom to our 2-​queen bed suite was bigger than my first apartment and it had a European shower head for that waterfall-​fresh feeling. Just what a girl needs on vacation! Also super comfortable beds, really nice linens, a lovely shared kitchen, and a private courtyard with the DSWSP and gated (yet limited) parking. I could seriously live here. I wish.
We are going back in two weeks for French Quarter Fest and I can’t wait. See ya soon, Beloved NoLa!
