I had bookmarked Continental Provisions ahead of my NOLA visit, so I was excited when we passed it in the French Market. It hadn’t been that long since lunch, so I knew I couldn’t order one of their pretty grilled cheese sandwiches(ugh!), but I still wanted cheese. I requested a «chunk of cheese» that would be smooth and under $ 7. The super friendly staff member came back with a nice cut of manchego for $ 6.25. Woohoo! This was so nice to snack on at the hotel. Definitely will return on a future NOLA trip to try their grilled cheese concoctions!

Food looked good too bad we didn’t get to have any because they said they closed early when they said they were open until 6:00pm

Great local food! Very friendly staff! Brought the food to us at the table. Prices were on point. They also have shops across the country. Definitely recommend this place for locals and tourists.

It closes at 5 in the French Market. Why do so many things in NOLA close at 5?! Sigh. However, I learned that St. James is actually their flagship store which has long hours. Plus, they are opening one in the warehouse district soon. Get the pimento cheese sandwich. Delicious pimento cheese made from white cheddar, green granny smith apples thinly sliced, and arugula that had a nice bite to it– all married on a perfectly crusty baguette from Bellegarde. I actually ate my sandwich the next day at the airport. It hands down beat any airport food-suckers! It was one of the better sandwiches I ever had. Personally, I’d skip the cheesy french marker– tourist trap, unless you are just coming here.

Why there isn’t a line down the length of the French Market for this place is beyond me. Excellent sandwiches made from the best, freshest ingredients and served by a smiling staff(unlike some popular places on Decatur) — this place is a lunchtime staple in the Quarter. Home of my favorite grilled cheese(hooks cheddar, prosciutto and plum chutney) and BLT(with arugula!). They deliver, but I like to come in person to ogle the cheese case(St. James Cheese Co /Cleaver Butcher) and the bread from Bellegarde Bakery.

Excellent grilled cheese with all kinds of options(tomatoes, bacon, onions, chutney, ham, etc.) on Bellegard(sp?) bakery bread. The cheese is fantastic and the serving is generous. Has spoiled me for grilled cheese elsewhere. I’ve also had the veggie special(beets, goat cheese, and other stuff), which was fantastic and very filling. Maybe a little pricey, but for the French Market it’s a deal. People who work their are very friendly and helpful.

First off, I dont always go to the French Market, but when I do, I cannot resist me some Continental Provisions. My favorite is the CP. It’s perfect. Also, I cant leave without getting a new cheese every time to bring home. They are super knowledgable about their products and I like hanging at the counter and talking to the guys that work there :) GO!

Super awesome sandwiches and yummy cheese plates! Seth’s meat plate is delicious and the CP is perfect if you’re on the hunt for a big boy sandwich. You can even get a bunch of different cheeses and take them to the river for a picnic. They don’t have wine but you can bring your own and enjoy at the counter.

We came to the French Market to wait for a bus for another event and happened upon this place because the food look light. This wasn’t further from the true. The sandwiches were perfect for me and my partner to share. We had the Fromage Fort sandwich, it was amazing. The sandwich had the right amount of vegetables, meat and cheese. The sandwich gets its name from the type of cheese. The bread was an amazing corn meal baguette. The staff here very very friendly and nice. They provide lots of great information about their foods. I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice light meal after all the very meals you eat else where in the city.

YIKES!!! $ 16.00 A POUNDFORPIMIENTOCHEESE That’s about a $ 1.00 per bite(see pic). At Rouses today(5÷13÷15) their regular price for a tenderloin filet was $ 13.99/LB, or $ 0.87 a bite. And that’s given that wholesale beef prices are up 20% over last year(I’m from a beef processing family, such stats are ingrained). I’D MUCHRATHERZARA’S «BETTERCHEDDAR»: $ 8/LB Continental’s pimiento cheese isn’t stellar either. It has a large percentage of pimientos, about 1⁄3 of the total(see pic) that overwhelm the flavor. Comparatively, Zara’s hand shredded spicy«Triple Cheese» spread is packed with chives and nuts at half the price. BETTERNEARBYMEALSWITH A SIDEFOR $ 10ORLESS: Continental Provisions Italian Sammie is a pricey $ 10 without a side. Instead try: «Mona Lisa’s» delicious Italian sub and pasta; «Mojo Lounge’s» variety of paninis with salad choice; «Verti Marte» or «Matassa’s» entrées come with 1 or 2 sides; «Nelly Deli’s» awesome ½LB burger and tater salad; «Quarter Grocery’s» hot pepper weener po’boy & scrumptious french fries that vie for best in the city.

Best sandwich shop! Now my second time here, first time I got the CP and now the pimento. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. But I mean, what else do you expect to get other than heaven in your mouth when you take the best cheese, the best bread and the best meat this city has to offer and then open a sandwich shop? Yum! It’s well worth the traipse through the tourist-filled market to get to to this little haven. If I lived closer I would probably be here everyday. Yes. That good. Now that I’ve really hyped up this place go and try it!

Best place to for fresh and superbly made sandwiches. No crowds, long lines or inflated prices either. The vegetable and cheese sandwich on sourdough can’t be beat.

Super awesome nice employees and their cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches are to.die.for. GNOM! I sat there and chowed tow pounds of shrimp and then ended up eating the entire grilled cheese because it was that good. Fresh bread! REAL cheese(and cheddar – not that American crap they call cheese). They also had different flavors of San Pellegrino which included the Blood Orange. SCORE! They have a small seating area so if you are lucky to stroll up when they aren’t their usual super busy, grab a chair and get some grilled cheese so you know what I am talking about.

Locals have a new reason to crawl through piles of tourists, beads, and T-shirts to get to this new gem in the French Market. I’ve eaten lunch here two days in a row, and let me tell y’all somethin’: it’s FANTASTIC, and I don’t say that lightly. I say to these people: WELCOME to the Quarter! MENU: The menu is small and diverse. The current veggie sandwich(beets, goat cheese, spinach/cilantro) should be a permanent fixture, because it will be a permanent staple on my lunch menu if it is. If I were making it, the ONE thing I’d add are a few candied walnuts to give it some crunchy texture. Other than that? Perfection. I love the grilled cheese, love the fromage fort, love the juusto, and the house-made pickles are delicious. The ingredients are clearly fresh, and a certain amount of love has to go into making a sandwich as good as the 3 – 4 of theirs I’ve tasted in the last couple days(we each bought different sandwiches and tasted them all). The bread choices are phenomenal, and I haven’t even been able to scope out their artisanal cheeses yet. $: The prices are low enough here that my $ 10-per-lunch budget at work(including tip) can be accommodated with leftovers in hand. Sidenote #1: At long last I finally have somewhere to send people for the quality of food that I enjoy without a $ 3 – 4 tourist tax added to each price tag. This is the perfect place to pair with its delicious neighbor, Meals from the Heart. Sidenote #2: That one-star review down there is pretty sketchy, y’all. No previous reviews on the account, no mention of any particular menu items eaten— in short? Don’t pay any attention to it. Try it out for yourself. Note to the owners: I think the most important part of my review is that your quality to price ratio can be the perfect marketing tool for y’all — I’d bring menus, and more importantly, introduce yourselves to every business in the Quarter if I were you. Offer yourselves up as a delicious, healthy, and AFFORDABLE option to the service industry folks, maybe with some kind of incentive, and y’all will have more pick-up orders than you can handle. Kudos on the menu and its execution. The FM Corp. should be proud as hell to have y’all on board.

Finally tried this enticing place in the French Market — simply amazing! The food was delicious, inexpensive, and oh so fresh! Had a grilled cheese(with house pickles and ham), a veggie sandwich(beets, spinach, goat cheese), and a Fromage Port– all incredible and distinct in their flavors! Also tried the juusto — the best cheese/bread combo I’ve had! Fantastic! This place is highly recommended and definitely worth a trip to the French Market!

Stumbled upon this place while checking out the French Market. We got a grilled cheese with salami, chutney, and onions and a «market special» with goat cheese, pickled beets, arugula, and a cilantro pesto. Both sandwiches were VERY good. The bread was buttery, crusty near the edges and chewy/dense in the middle, the cheese was great, and both were hot-pressed to meld all the flavors together. We definitely, definitely recommend both sandwiches. This place offers a nice change of pace from some of the other spots in the area offering things like«alligator on a stick» and we loved it!
