The first time I went to cure was over 5 years ago. At the time Feret St wasn’t as popping and I was going off sheer recommendation. From that night to this day — I have not been disappointed. Here are my bullet points: Their cocktail list is varied and seasonal. There aren’t many places that I can have more than 4 options for a Mezcal drink. They also have beer and shot combos that will keep everyone happy. The food — though a bit pricey — will dance across your tongue. It is clean but not stuffy. I mean you can roll in dressed to the 9s and no one will bat and eye, but I can also drop through after work and be fine. Happy hour is worth the trip. The patio is a little escape. In general if you want to take a friend or coworker or date to a spot to impress them — this a great choice. But on the flip side, if you just want a kick ass cocktail and some chill vibe, this is also for you. PS The artwork is also a conversation point. Look to your left when you first walk in and you will understand what I am saying.

If you like whiskeys, they have a ton. Like a TON. Big booths inside as well as an outdoor patio. Not much in terms of other stuff around, unless you want Domino’s. Fun place and great for groups.

What a fantastic sophisticated, yet casual venue in The Garden Quarter! They got me straight away with the Indie music!: Oh and then we saw we were still in time for happy hour! Most cocktails only 6 $! I tried a champagne cocktail first then moved on to one of my favourite German white wines-might not sound exciting but it was what I fancied on that sunny evening:) They brought out a sharing board of asparagus, tomatoes and olives –fresh and delicious! There isn’t a massive food menu and what there was were comparatively small portions compared to most food we had been eating, never the less it was delicious– the friend chicken was divine! I need to go back for more food an sample some more of the extensive drink lists!

I waited for food for 60min and watched the table next to me served 2 courses, dessert, and pay the bill. Waitress told us food would«be out in a few minutes» 30 mins before it came out. One of my orders was mousse scraped on two smal pieces of bread. How long does that take to prepare? The cocktails are amazing as always but it’s sad to see this place take a nosedive on service. Also now seems to be a loud upscale college bar. Missing the old days when you could hold a conversation over a drink.

***This review is only for the cocktails.*** The wife and I decided to work off some of our dinner at Shaya and walk to Cure for post-dinner drinks. Cure was at the top of my list of cocktail places to hit while we were in town. By the time we arrived at the bar around 9PM, we had worked up a thirst. I was immediately taken by its dimly lit space with high-ceilings and a brick and wood interior that looked like it must have been a carriage house long ago in a previous life. We found two seats at the bar giving us a great view of the drinks being made and Cure’s impressive array of spirits lined up on shelves up to the ceiling. Looking over the extensive, but not overlong, cocktail menu, I found the descriptions of the drinks to be compelling for their complexity and use of premium spirits, but I also thought the prices were exceedingly reasonable, averaging around $ 10 for most drinks. I ventured into their Reserve Cocktails selections and had the Bonded Sazerac($ 20) made with E.H. Taylor Bonded Rye, Nouvelle Orleans Absinthe, Demerara sugar, and garnished with a lemon peel. Even though it was a busy Friday night, the bartender made my drink with precision and obvious pride in his craft. While it was easily the priciest drink I had over our weekend visit to town, it was also easily the best Sazerac to ever make it past my lips. It was high-proof booziness, but exceptionally well-balanced, hitting all of the notes that I expected/hoped to find. In my mind, I received much better value and enjoyment from Cure’s rendition of a Sazerac than the one I had at the Sazerac Bar for $ 15. I’ll leave it to my wife to describe her experience and her take on the Ghosts of My Life #4($ 11), but from the sip I had of her drink, I’d say it, too, was a winner. Cure may be somewhat off of the beaten track for out-of-towners, but it’s a definite must for true cocktail lovers. While I wouldn’t always walk a mile(or more) for a good drink, Cure was truly worth the time and effort.

Aesthetically, it is an attractive bar. An almost unnoticeably plain exterior(the first time we drove past it) opens into a handsomely-designed, high-ceiling interior, boasting both a refined yet cozy atmosphere. What about the cocktails? Do you wish to try some interesting«mixology»? Do you actually enjoy partaking in the flavor of fine alcohol? Then look no further you have stepped into the perfect saloon. If however, you are a connoisseur of artificially flavored, sugary concoctions which bare little semblance to refined alcohol… leave, immediately, do not pass go, do not collect excellent taste, head for Bourbon Street. I can’t speak to the food as we only had drinks. We tried several drink menu selections, all of which were quite interesting. I suggest visiting at happy hour when the ‘craft cocktails’ are less pricy — venture out and try a few. The crowd seemed a bit ‘clannish’. Haughty as opposed to hipster. This may not be the friendliest bar, and the regular patrons may not welcome ‘outsiders’, but if you are looking for a cozy, stylish joint to share a cocktail with your own much friendlier classier crew… head on over to Cure.

Yup. I’m a fan. Drinks are unique which I love. Atmosphere is laid back and sophisticated. But you really want the know about the drinks and the food right? Absolutely delicious but don’t come to the bar thinking you are going to get a full meal here. Portions are small but just right for a late evening of drinking. If you are like me and prefer to eat while you drink then go ahead and get you something to eat. However, if you came to the bar starving don’t expect much. Drinks are exquisite. Sure you can get your basics here but why do that? Enjoy their selection of hand crafted drinks to get the full experience of what Cure is all about. I have been coming here for a few years now. The drinks and the menu do change from time to time but to me that’s what makes this place exciting.

Yay! I finally tried this place. The drink I got with chocolate notes was AMAZING. It was called the«Red Egg» or something like that. Remember that New Orleans has Happy Hour even on the weekends, so some cocktails at Cure are $ 6 from 5 — 7. You can get apps such as homemade pimento cheese for $ 5 but we didn’t. Next time I’m going to get more than one cocktail and try their cheese plate for $ 18. Then I’ll update my review. It’s an awesome atmosphere to chill at and it’s right by Tulane, so that’s convenient. Definitely a good, high-class spot to chill and check out.

Aesthetically, it is a great bar. Problem is that I just felt like my jeans were not tight enough, my beard was not fancy enough, and my fashion and actions were not ironic enough to be a patron of this bar. I was already tired when I entered the bar, but the crowd made me just want to check out early. The staff was not very quick to see if you needed a drink either that may have kept me at least for one drink with my group.

Very nice place for a drink. I happened to stumble into happy hour so that was great. It’s worth a stop with great bartenders and plenty of conversation.

Went here for Happy Hour drinks after hearing great things about the place and it did not disappoint. Had a couple Kentucky Mules and the bartender did a wonderful job making them. Luckily I was able to substitute bourbon for the Moscow mule on the happy hour list and make a Kentucky Mule. I also ended up getting the Curewich. Basically a dressed up breakfast bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. It was amazing! I wanted to order 2 more of them but I had dinner reservations made already.

I am so impressed with Cure, it makes me want to move to New Orleans and drink delightfully crafted cocktails and small plates all day, errday. The simple exterior belies a high-ceilinged, beautifully-designed interior: bar tables lit from underneath, wood panelling all over the walls, and mirrored and glassed hexagonal table tops. It’s all very hipster and industrial and minimalist and I luvvit. The cocktail menu came with little icons of the glass(highball, rocks, etc.) the drink is served in, which is really helpful if you want to know what to expect. The food and drinks were amazing too. The Eternal September($ 10) is every bit as described — a seasonal take on an Old Fashioned with spices and warmth evocative of fall. My favorite dish was the scallops were served on bread filled with crème fraîche — every bite was a refreshing slurp and crunch of slippery and creamy. I also ordered the chicken confit — the chicken was not as crisp as it could be, but it was served with blistered garlicky beans that I kept picking at even though I’m not a fan of beans. We also got the steak tartare, which had luscious hunks of meat. I personally would have toasted the sliced bread that was served alongside the steak tartare. I would definitely come back again and explore the rest of Freret Street too.

MAN! I remember when you’d go to this place and you’d park your car strategically so you could watch it from inside the bar. The prices have gone up a lot since those days, but other than that, it’s been pretty consistent. Cure was truly one of the first«craft cocktail» spots in New Orleans that was accessible to the masses. I believe it has paved the way for a lot of mixologists in New Orleans. They have a beautiful appointed dining room and a wonderfully romantic outdoor patio. It’s a spot we tend to visit at the beginning of the night, especially if we have dinner or theater plans. I definitely feel the need to dress up to go to Cure. That said, it’s not stuffy or snobby. Every day, they have a different cocktail punch. It runs ya about $ 6 during happy hour. If I’m having 2 drinks during my visit, I typically make the cocktail punch one of them. It never disappoints, but can sometimes run a bit sweet. They have a varied menu of different craft cocktails, using any ingredient you can imagine. They create their own bitters and really put their heart and soul into the creation of your drink. Or, if you want something easier, go with a shot and a beer! Some of the fanciest shots and beer combinations you can get in town!

Wow wow. This is the cure for all those dreadful, overly sugary drinks and boring standard bars. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a time and place for Hurricanes and bartenders who only know how to make classic cocktails. You gotta love New Orleans. Call me a hipster snob or what have you, but craft cocktails are my only scene these days. Bring on that shrub! So walking into Cure(which was totally hidden in plain sight) was like finding home in a faraway land. The massive bar selection greets you as you enter. Rows upon rows of sexiness in a bottle. The ambiance is dressier, but approachable. And the drinks! The mixologists here are the real deal. Smooth, multilayered, innovative cocktails that go down like water. The selection here is wide and varied. You can even go low end and get a Miller High Life. They have it all. The best cocktail bar I’ve tried in New Orleans thus far.

Cocktails crafted by knowledgeable bartenders without the pretentiousness of a speak-easy with a secret password, dress code guidelines, or reservations. Best time for the detailed, fast, thoughtful service is anytime before 7 pm. The courtyard is lovely. If I had a balcony or terrace it would be similar to the courtyard here. It’s quiet and serene. Bartenders are experts, so don’t be scared to ask in depth questions about the drinks, the liquor, and the history and future thereof. They have all been at the Cure for a while and most of them have attended national cocktail making competitions, or traveled to other parts of the country/world to learn more about their favorite alcoholic beverages.

Yay! Great mixologists with creative drinks in a gorgeous space, this bar is off the beaten path but definitely worth visiting. It’s especially worth visiting if you’re a fan of AHS: Coven and want to relive the scene where Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson are fussing and then Sarah Paulson gets blinded with acid. Anyway, the space is rather charming and the staff are quite friendly. The power was flickering in and out while we were there(thanks to Hurricane Patricia) and the bartender joked that if the computers went out, the drinks would be free because how else would they bill for them?(Unfortunately for the imbibers, the power never actually cut out.) I tried a Pimm’s cup and a French 75(both for the first time ever) and thoroughly enjoyed those classic NOLA drinks. They were expertly blended so I couldn’t taste a drop of alcohol but they got me delightfully buzzed; and to me, that is a sign of a great bartender. The prices were the best part to me(maybe because I’m always slayed by $ 15 beers in NYC) considering how complicated the cocktails were.

Located away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street is a classy bar and one of my favorites in the city. The bartenders here know their stuff and you can get any number of fancy cocktails poured for you. Know they specialize in dark liquors so whiskey and scotch are king and the drink menu clearly shows that. We were lucky enough to get a table outside on the ever so cool patio. The service was quick, and the drinks delicious. I chuckled a little at the restrooms as they are sort of in the next building…made me feel like I was going in the wrong place but they bathrooms are as clean and modern as the rest of this place. Next time I’m in town, I am definitely going to stop back in here. Want to try some of that food I saw going by!

If you are looking for a bar carries great variety of whisky and scotch, this is definitely a place for you. Also, bartenders are truly mixologists here. They are very professional and handle each drink delicately. When I was there, they were out of my usual whisky so they were very nice and patient to explain other options that I may like. However, if you would like to just go to a casual place to hang out with friends, which I like, this may not be a good choice for you.

IN A NUTSHELL my 1st impression: Loud, Over-priced, Waspy-crowd. I remember hearing about this place, and its«cool» «yuppy» enviroment with great drinks from my Tulane days. I never did get a chance to pay it a visit then. But one night a few yrs later, my girlfriend and I decided we wanted to have a night-cap after dinner, we were in the area, and decided to head to Cure. When we arrived, it was loud and packed. There was a boucer at the door, I suppose for security reasons, because he wasn’t collecting an entry fee(which was great!). Anyways…walking in, there were tables with candles lit, an entire wall devoted to every lushes alcohol preference. But where were we going to sit, the tables full with what appeared to be friends socializing over conversations that didn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. The bar was crowded, people sitting, people standing… I had to wiggle my way in just to place my order, which seemed like it would never happen, because the bartenders wouldn’t pay me any mind. When I finally captured the attention of the bartender, I ordered two glasses of pinot grigio, which came to $ 26. My girlfriend and I managed to squeeze together on one of the wrap-around cushion sofas to sip on our glasses, which was so uncomfortable. I guess I can add this place falls short of gentlemen, because although they glance at you, they never once offer you their seat. I don’t know what else to say, we finished the drink and then we left. BTW…I do have something else to say, the hanging picture of a cockroach’s anatomy is totally totally the most grotesque image I want to see while trying to enjoy a cocktail. Who thought that was a good idea???
