My grandfather moved in last month and our family couldn’t be happier! This is an independent living facility, but there is a caregiving service on the premises if a resident requires assistance. Meals are served in the cafeteria at 8am, 12:30pm, and 5:30pm and are 2 – 2.5 hour productions! There is a main meal selected to be served, but a list of set alternatives are also available should the selected meal not be to the resident’s liking. Holidays are celebrated. There are lots of gatherings and exercise classes are available to the residents throughout the day. Thursdays a van will bring residents to appointments or requested destinations in the city. My grandfather’s room and board costs less than $ 2000 a month and includes all utilities, three chef-prepared meals a day, and an alert button if he needs help. The button allows the staff to find him anywhere on the grounds… he accidentally sat on the button at dinner and they found him at his table to reset his button! The staff are also really entertaining and get along well with their residents. Joining my grandfather for dinner one night, I witnessed fun being had between the Alabama cook and a resident LSU fan. The cook wore a huge printed Alabama logo on his uniform and made a production of playfully teasing the LSU fan. The resident eventually ripped the Alabama sign off the cook and shredded it — to the laughter of the rest of the tables! Very fun place, definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a small apartment for their elderly loved one.
