Select from our Identifiable vegan, gluten-free and heart-healthy menu. Some of our offerings are completely organic such as our soups, salads and breads. 99% of our ingredients are personally selected by Chef Doucette. We strive to prepare meals that are lower in pesticides, sodium, fats and sugar. If you are on a special diet, please call in advance to allow us time to accommodate for your needs.
History
Established in 2005.
Meals From The Heart was established in 2005, in an effort to fight obesity, hypertension and other avoidable diseases. After Hurricane Katrina, «Meals» reopened out of a need to reinvest in the city of New Orleans.

Business Owner
Chef Marilyn Doucette is a graduate of Tulane University and studied commercial cooking and baking at Sclafani’s of New Orleans. From 1994 — 2004, Marilyn coordinated social justice programs for universities and social service agencies. In 2005, she decided to follow her passion: fighting obesity and diseases manifested as a result of poor diets. Chef Doucette hosts healthy food demonstrations and trains young culinary aspirants.

Averill Lazard, Owner, Marketing Director is a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans. A gifted artist, Averill’s design concept uses Fung Shui to create balance, warmth and a sense of tranquility in the café’s open air space. Upon your visit, you are very likely to be greeted by Averill’s warm smile.
