I have had nothing but excellent service and results from Nouveau Cleaners, over several years. Located in the former Smith’s Records, this small business is exemplary.

I d rather give them no star for rating!!! I brought 7pieces to there and two garments are completely damaged! they were like“If you done not pay the entire price($ 160), I won’t let you take them” people there are sooo RUDE!!! They don’t have the basic knowledge about fabric!

I used to take my clothes to Nouveau. I started to notice that the price seemed to be different every time I went in, and much more expensive than I’m used to paying for basic dry-cleaning. Combined with the difficulty of finding parking in that area during the day, I thought I would try somewhere else. I looked on Unilocal for other options, and I was surprised to see that multiple people have had the exact same experience as me at Nouveau. I will say that my clothes were always in perfect condition when they were returned to me, so if money is no object, then Nouveau may be for you. For my money, I’m going to give Ace, a few blocks away on Prytania, a shot. p. s. They also do not take credit cards, which seems like a mistake given the clientele of dry cleaners.

Bottom line: they charge WAYY too much and I’ve finally had enough. I’ve been taking my dry cleaning here for about six months — mainly because it’s a convenient location a few blocks from where I live. The going rate for my work clothes(roughly like 10 – 12 shirts and 4 pants) has been around $ 60. SIXTY bucks for that — about three times what I paid when I lived in Houston. The place only takes cash. And like another reviewer said — there’s no set prices posted — you feel like they just make it up on the fly. Anyway, they’ve lost my business for good. I give them two stars for location and the fact that they always do a decent job with the clothes.

There are no consistent prices and it appears prices change customer to customer, visit to visit. I went once and dropped off about seven items and paid less than $ 50 but when I went back and dropped off a single dress it cost $ 16. This was a work dress– nothing demanding or fancy– so $ 16 is insane. I checked my receipts and realized I never received any itemized account of prices. I will not be returning to Nouveau, it is too much of a gamble when it comes to cost.

Although the people running the place are nice, I find two things unacceptable. First $ 3.00 for a men’s shirt(wash, not dry clean) is a ripoff. Second, and much more importantly — 90 percent of my shirts come back smelling like frank body odor. I even mentioned this to the owner — and he just laughed it off with a bad joke. Not coming back

nice folks here and an alteration service is a nice perk… but a bad experience. A pair of slacks and two shirts costs $ 12 t o dry clean? I think not… drop off on Saturday morning and not available for pickup until Tuesday? no thanks… I got there with ticket in hand and they couldn’t find my clothes

Short and sweet: I was taken for a ride. Any dry cleaner that doesn’t post base prices(and won’t let me look at a pricing slip beforehand) sends up red flags. I don’t expect to see exact prices, but I would like to know that shirts start at $x.xx, coats start at $y.yy, and gowns start at $z.zz. Knowing the base price means there is a scale beyond«And my best customers pay the ‘special price.’» When all the prices are a secret, there really is something to hide. I’m also miffed that my formal dress(no stains, no spills, no issues) came back safety pinned to a piece of cardboard. If I wanted pin holes in the dress, I would have put them there myself! The cleaning was unobjectionable, and the next-day service wasn’t bad at all.(I would have gladly waited a few days.) But I feel like I got the«You annoy me, and I’ve never seen you before» initiation price instead of the«This is the price everyone pays for a dress in this condition» price. Thank god dry cleaning is not on my normal rotation. This would bankrupt me. Accessibility notes: Step up into the shop. Door opens in. No posted curbside service or delivery. No braille signage. High counter.

I’ve been a customer at Nouveau Cleaners for years because of the quality of their cleaning and alterations. I’m pretty picky when it comes to my clothes and it’s so nice not to have to worry when I drop my clothes off to Ms Irene or her daughter, Rosalie, who are both sweet as can be. They do next-day service too which has been great for emergencies. Best of all, they have free street parking in front the store on St Charles, next to the Cheesecake Bistro!
