Review #800(and review #346 for the year. BOOM.) For this momentous occasion, what better place to review than where I spent my birthday? I had wanted to try this place FOREVER, so when my birthday rolled around, I knew that this would be the perfect place to celebrate. The actually take reservations, so we made some and were immediately seated when we arrived. We got a nice, small table in the back, which was perfect for me. Looking over the menu, everything sounded amazing. We decided to start with the Sautéed Herb Gnocchi with Pancetta, Parmesan and English Peas and the Pâté with Pickled Vegetables and Roasted Pine Nuts. The gnocchi was okay, but the pâté was AMAZING. They bring you a huge serving of it, and two people didn’t even get through it all. It was fantastic. For my entrée, I decided on the Cochon de Lait with Stone Ground Grits, Pork Cracklin’ and Sweet & Sour Red Cabbage. Although my entrée was pretty slow to arrive(at one point I wondered if the order had been sent to the kitchen late) once it did I was thrilled. The pork was tender and perfectly cooked. The meat’s gravy soaked into the grits resulting in a delicious mix and grits and juice that was just a delight. I was impressed that it was a good serving of food and I couldn’t finish it all. I seriously want to go back and get this dish again. It was that good. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere make this the perfect place for any date night or celebration. I will most definitely return to One.

Really loved this place. Live here and had never been until I had an issue my reservation at Mat & Naddies. One quickly helped us out with a group of 10 at 9:45 at night. The value and quality is great. 35 for a a great two course meal w/a glass of wine. The beer salad was delicious, the sourdough bread had everyone talking, and the service was prompt and helpful.

Absolutely LOVE the intimate setting at One!!! One of the best places in the city to take a date. Try to grab a seat at the food bar watching the kitchen. Then, just tell the chef’s what you like and give them free reign to help you wine and dine your date. After you’re done, sealing the deal couldn’t be easier. Oh yeah… And make sure ot get some of the house bread It’s amazing!!! HATE that they closed!!! Changing from 5 star to 3 since they are closed and it won’t matter. I’m just sore about it!

Ate there Saturday evening. Service was good. Appetizers excellent(hence 3 stars) but the entrees were mediocre at best. I had the beef tenderloin with beef shoulder rillette and my wife the gulf fish. Both dishes were largely flavorless. When a steak or fish I make a home is better tasting than the one which I am shelling out good money for well, the best I can say is I was disappointed. Remove One from my list of places to eat.

Went there recently and was really impressed. The dishes I had, scallops and oysters appetizers and fish entrée were awesome in a light subtle asian kinda way. Setting it apart from other nouveau creole type New Orleans places. Really good. Topping it off was a really awesome dessert of flour free chocolate cake with cream and strawberries. Easily the best dessert at a restaurant I’ve had, ever. Nice servers, cool neighborhood locale. Will definitely go back. Next time, I’ll try a beef or pork dish.

We live in the neighborhood and always do our best to spend our money locally. We had lunch at One, and the food was delicious. The tomato gazpacho was wonderful, and the bread was a favorite. My husband loved his BLT, my daughter enjoyed her veggie pasta, and my shrimp and grits dish was great. Unfortunately, we don’t think we’ll go back. This is the second time we’ve been there, and we felt as unwelcome this time as last time. I don’t know if it was because we were with our daughter, and they expected her to misbehave(she didn’t). I’m really suspicious now that I’ve read other reviews about how wonderful and friendly the staff was. My husband said it felt as if we were intruding on a private gathering/home. The waiter, although efficient and attentive, wasn’t very friendly. I felt he briskly placed things down the way a waiter would in a Chinese restaurant. He also didn’t offer to bring our daughter’s meal early, and even though we asked for 2 boxes, he put our leftovers together in one box. We wouldn’t normally ask for separate boxes, but these things really didn’t go together. My daughter suggested we just order to-go next time. Hopefully, others will have a better overall dining experience than we did.

Me and my girls decided to welcome in the 4th of July holiday with a Wednesday night Happy Hour crawl. One Restaurant & Lounge was the last stop on our crawl. One Restaurant in the Riverbend has long been a favorite of mine. It seems to have just the right mix of small and quaint, classy, great service, reasonable prices… and delicious food! Happy Hour at One is Monday-Friday from 5 – 7 pm and offers ½ priced wine, specialty cocktails and appetizers. I love wine and appetizers and I love happy hours that go until 7 pm! I have to be sure to specifically point out the service at One. I’ve been to One probably 15 times and the service has always been spot on. The owner Lee, chef Scott, the bartender Ellis and our waiter Zach always make my group feel right at home in both friendliness and efficiency. Our group all partook in the ½ priced wines. Zach was even kind enough to bring the bottles out for me to scan into my Vivino app for future reference. Then it was time for the food. We all ordered the crab cakes because well… it’s the most amazing crab cakes ever! Big on crab, and short on breading is the way crab cakes should be done, and One does them right. They are served with strips of fried mirliton and a yummy garlic aioli. This dish rings in at $ 6.50 during happy hour! And trust me, you can make a meal out of it. BUT…BUT…BUT…the best thing I’ve eat at One is… get ready for it… THEBREAD! I’m not kidding. It’s seriously that good. Their sour dough bread is baked from a starter that was started before Katrina. That means the bread is so sour, you’d swear it was baked with cheese. I seriously feel like I have to be brought out in a wheelbarrow every time I eat there because I can’t stop myself. Another note, if you’re ever dining alone, One is great place in which to do so. They have a bar that overlooks the kitchen, so you can watch chef Scott do his thang. I absolutely recommend One. It’s great for girl’s night, date night, or by yourself night.

Ok, I took off a star because it is so darned expensive! Fortunately they have a deal where you can get an appetizer/soup/salad, an entrée, and a glass of wine for $ 35 which isn’t bad for the quality of food and service. It’s a small restaurant with a bar on the right as you enter, fine linens with fresh flowers and an open kitchen which is quite rare in fine dining joints. Our server Valerie was attentive but not overbearing. I dined with three friends and we all got the special. First we had the hot sourdough rolls which were yummy and I love real butter! Then I ordered the crab cakes(which were yummy crab without breading-see my picture) and fried mirliton-delicious! One friend ordered the chargrilled oysters which I tasted and it was yummy, and another friend ordered the scallops which she enjoyed. For my main dish I ordered the tenderloin which had blue cheese on top and had shredded beef underneath. It came with snow pea pods(I think) and a potato was tasty! My friends ordered the flounder and they enjoyed it. But dessert was the best with a creamy crème brûlée with whipped cream and fresh strawberries on the side-amazing! And we so had the flourless chocolate cake with strawberries and cream on the side which was good. I don’t remember what kind of red wine my friends ordered but they all enjoyed it. And I liked the Pinot Grigio that I ordered as well. It was a lovely experience and we closed the place out where they had to turn on the lights to kick us out! Hehe Happy Dining!

One has been on my list of places to try for at least 3 years and I finally made it over there a couple of weeks ago. We sat at the bar(in front of the open kitchen) so we had the food prep floorshow; it was like a live action food show. The food was amazing. We started with the char-grilled oysters while we perused the menu… they were amazing. So glad I had bread to mop up the extra cheese & sauce. I moved on to the butternut squash bisque with crabmeat and it was really yummy. THEN we split the roasted beet and celery root salad also delicious(and really I could have stopped). I also had the crab cakes with the mirliton fries. Both were amazing(and the leftovers complemented my scrambled eggs perfectly the next day). Seriously delicious and I wonder why it took me so long to get here. I’ll be back soon.

This is a modern setting with an open Kitchen, I love to sit at the bar and eat and watch all the buzz in the kitchen. Oysters = wonderful. The menu has some fabulous items. Their own bead rolls are delicious. Their pâté is wonderful with the fennel. Scallops yum, too many great dishes to try in one sitting. I love this place and the people.

I’ve eaten here a few times and the restaurant is a nice little spot off of Carrollton. They have an open kitchen and its nice to sit at the bar and watch the food being cooked. They offer some standard NOLA dishes with their own unique spin along with some things that veer off into the very creative. The food ranges from average to excellent depending on the dish and when you visit. This is generally a very casual restaurant with food that trends more towards fine dining. Its certainly a very intimate space and one of the smaller restaurants in New Orleans so, even though I’ve never been here when it was crowded, reservations are probably the safe way to go here. This establishment is certainly worthy of a visit for lunch or dinner.

We live close to here by the park, and we eat here at least once every 3 weeks. We enjoy eating at the bar and watching the chefs work(side note, they are all like NBA-tall!). The food is consistently wonderful. We always get the scallop appetizer(which they switch up every now and then, but all styles of it are amazing), the tuna appetizer(with avocado and these delicious little crispy wontons), the crab cakes with fried mirliton, and often the gnocchi. The appetizers are a meal by themselves, but I also think their spaghetti with shrimp(I get it without the sausage) is perfectly done and simple without being boring. Fried soft shell crabs are to die for when they’ve got them. Drink wise, they have a nice selection and a fun bartender. They have a tv in the bar(no sound) where you can watch the Hornets or whatever. Fun fact: the two little Japanese figurines on the hostess stand are from our friend in Japan who came to One Restaurant with us when he was visiting and noticed their set of these little good luck dogs was missing a dog. So when he got home, he shipped a new set for us to take to the restaurant.

Interesting menu, beautifully prepared food, fine service. I had a business lunch there recently and found it to be an amenable environment to conversation. The lunch prices are right in line with most other restaurants in the vicinity. The only reason I didn’t do five stars is that the air conditioning wasn’t working properly the day I visited and the dining room was warm. Being undaunted however, I removed my suit coat and ordered the gazpacho, which proved to be an outstanding treat for numerous senses!

3⁄5 solid. weird, i totes thought that i had already written a review for this place. maybe i had imagined it, or maybe there is some monkey business going on! well, now i’m going to have to dig for memories of our meal — it was during COOLinary. i remember being particularly impressed by the crabcake dish on the appetizers. the fish was a very healthy portion, though i’d skip the pesto if you have the option. my friend had the scallops and those were also quite memorable.

No great. I think One Restaurant would be considered great in most other cities, but not so much here. The food was under seasoned, underwhelming and not very fresh. Maybe we went on a bad night but we ordered a lot of favorites and were displeased with all of them. This was my second visit, there probably won’t be a third.

I had a very delicious, cozy and low-key Valentine’s Day dinner here. A nursing midterm [me] and a full day in court [my lawyer date] are not a very fun ways to spend the cheesiest day of the year, but we managed to land a late reservation and enjoy the rest of the evening. This little pocket of Uptown has some j’adorable bistro-style restaurants and our dinner at One was spectacular. We sat at the bar and started off with a Dark and Stormy, a cucumber gin martini and some Louisiana chargrilled oysters – all of which were extremely tasty. We were able to lust over sous chef’s work, as he pumped out the final dishes of the night. I think we absolutely slam-dunked our entrée orders, and I still can’t decide which was better. I ordered the duck confit with applesauce, chicken sausage and baby potatoes & carrots. My date had the braised beef ribs with collared greens and potato/white truffle croquettes. My God. Everything was just superb. The entrees were different from one another, but both very flavorful and cooked to perfection. It was definitely a meal where our silverware crossed from dish to dish and our plates were left clean. I would love to come back, order a bottle of red wine and sample some of their smaller dishes and another entrée. One is a perfect date-night restaurant if you’re looking for something local, satisfying and a little romantic. :)

Phenomenal experience! Beginning with the house-made sourdough biscuits, all the way through to the crème brûlée we took home the meal was a fantastic experience even for these New Yorker’s who live in another good food city! Fried green tomato surrounded by lemon garlic butter with 6 – 8 escargot was fabulous. The light fluffy crabmeat with crispy mirliton ‘chips’ surrounded by a basil pesto was great! For entrée, we tried the yummy braised country rib(pork not beef) with potato truffle croquettes. Also, had a super light goat cheese gnocchi with white beans and cherry tomatoes — it was heavenly! A generous portion of house salad perfectly dressed with the requested pecan vinaigrette, cucumbers, hearts of palm was a great finish to a lovely meal. I can’t believe anyone wouldn’t have something great to say about this place.

This place is a gem in my neighborhood! I had a post-finals lunch with the ladies in my aerobics class, and I’m glad we gave this place a try. They were out of the gumbo, but offered an awesome butternut squash and crab soup. A few of the ladies ordered it, and were nice enough to share: Ummm, can you say ‘Yum’, boys and girls? Very good, I knew that you could I started with the Louisiana Crabmeat Cakes. They come with basil and cabbage slaw, but the kitchen was sweet enough to substitute the slaw with a nice salad with a sweet onion vinaigrette so good I considered licking the plate. This wasn’t the first time I resisted plate licking, because my entrée was the Smothered Chicken. WOW! I haven’t had smothered chicken that good since before Katrina… We’re talking 2002. The chicken came with perfectly steamed veggies: carrots and snap peas. I love veggies, so I tore through this first. The chicken was tender, and every bite with the rice(was it Basmati rice? Either way it was perfect. My rice is dreadful, any tips?) and gravy was full of flavor. They gave me a knife, but it was for decoration. Everything was perfectly cooked, I only needed a fork to eat it all. The food here is a notable addition to my Clean Plate Brigade, and I was almost hurt when I was finished with my food. I didn’t have room for dessert, but I found a way to split the Egg Nog Crème Brulee with a friend. Mmmm, yummy and creamy. I’m not really down with the Nog, but I’m a fan of anything Brulee. It was great, but a little heavy on the clove.(Which comes with egg nog, but as I mentioned… I know.) Seriously, you need to check this place out. They must grow and prosper so they can never leave the RIverbend. I like knowing places of this caliber are within walking distance.

I went here twice for business luncheons and I was really impressed. The seared scallops appraisers were amazing as well as the crème brûlée for dessert. The first main dish I had was a seafood salad and while I enjoyed what I ate, I felt like they could of done better with the presentation. The second main dish I had was the Open-face Brisket Sandwich on Focaccia bread with Shoestring Potatoes. That was really tasty and the fries were my favorite. They paid extra attention to those fries! I would come back here again… if someone else would pay for my meal. It’s expensive!
