Went in with a Friend. She tried on 2 dresses but we bought nothing because the ladies working I. The store were watching us like Hawks and made us feel like the thought we were stealing. They check tags to make sure we weren’t switching them and when we said goodbye they didn’t even acknowledge us. Horrible customer service.

My husband needed a few party shirts(florals or something) so we stopped in Shushan’s. a great selection of hats, shirts, pants, umbrellas, handy rain ponchos for the sudden storm that hit. Very kind owners!

How did I manage to neglect reviewing Shushan’s earlier? I first encountered Shushan’s one summer when I was here for a convention. The fedora I was wearing to protect my bean was fine for a PNW summer, but not steamy New Orleans. Since I knew of 1 excellent hatter and one nationally renowned hatter in this lovely city, I tried both. Neither had what I needed. I was bound for Jackson square anyways, and walked right by and noticed hats. It was worth a try. They proudly displayed an award for hat vendor of the year and frankly, earned that distinction. I explained by ailment to the proprietor and with classic, disarming New Orleans charm he said, «That hat must feel like wearing a boot on your head in a swamp.» Stores like these are the antidote to the corporate, assembly-line, self-serve retail box store experience in this country: engaged people who get to know a customer quickly and provide remarkable service. Indeed, I found exactly what I needed and they earned a returning customer. Every time I return to New Orleans, a visit is mandatory for me and my wife has joined the fan club, too.

Quite a nice looking place, with tons of hats that can even fit my big head. People were very nice and accommodating and some pretty nice hats. I felt it to be alittle pricey though, but i guess if you want quality. Will go back if I’m down in New Orleans and i need a hat.

A friend of my wife’s suggested shopping here, I would have never expected to find a good clothing store on Jackson Square. Just saying. It’s a small locally run place that has both men’s and women’s hats and shirts as well as miscellaneous clothing. The hats are really nice, and not all that expensive in the grand scheme of things — my wife was looking at one for about $ 65 which is not bad for a nice hat. Men’s shirts were about $ 40 to $ 65 and are just about all button-down silk or cotton shirts that are airy and comfortable. Some may be described as Cuban or Mexican/Yucatan styles with embroidery on the front but there are also a lot with prints that may be described more as «Bowling Shirts» or here in New Orleans«Jazz Fest Shirts». Who doesn’t want comfy and somewhat stylish shirts and hats — okay, I admit that some of the prints are a bit loud and showy but there’s really some good stuff here if you can find something that’s your style. The owners are very nice, if you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a look.

I go to Shushans, Ltd. every time I am in New Orleans. They have the best hats and the best costumer service. The store is run by a husband and wife who both work in the store. They are so caring and thorough; and most important is that they really cared if the hat I bought worked for me. They even gave me advice on how to pack it and said I could email or call any time with questions. This is seriously the best customer service I have ever gotten; not to mention that they have cool hats at every price point. There are many hat stores in New Orleans, but only one like this. If you are in New Orleans you should for sure go!
