Would give 10 stars if I could! Ken has got to be the best jewelry dealer in the new orleans area. Helpful, honest, and an all around nice guy. As for the previous review, the store looked empty because he packs up all of his stuff so its not stolen through the windows at night. And it’s hard for him to make special appointments because he lives on the north shore. My husband bought my engagement ring there. He knew what he wanted it to look like and described it to Ken. Ken said ok and made the ring to order. He gave my husband the ring and told him to take it outside, look at it in the light. No diamond dealer I know would do that. I love my ring. Since then we’ve dealt with Ken a few times, each experience a great one. He was recommend by a friend who also loved working with him. I highly recommend him.

I called Quarter Smith looking for antique or estate engagement rings and spoke with Ken. Since I don’t live in the NOLA area, I asked about Quarter Smith’s hours. Ken stated that his store is open from 7:30 — 2:30, Tues-Friday, but not on Saturdays. Since I wouldn’t be able to get over there on a weekday, I asked if it would be possible to make a Saturday appointment. Ken laughed a little, as if this was a strange request, and said maybe, but that if I had an idea of what styles I was interested in, he would be happy to email pictures of any appropriate rings he had. I stated that I did know what I was looking for and described some styles to him. He asked me to send him an email with that information, anything else I could think of, and pictures of rings I liked from online or other stores. Since he seemed sincere, I went to the trouble of sending the email and pictures. He acknowledged my email, said he had some items that would interest me, and then I never hear from him again. ?!? I was in NOLA recently(having emailed Ken about a week before) so I stopped by his store and saw that it looked unused and nearly empty! When I got home, I checked the Quarter Smith website, which still appears well updated. However, the website states that the store is open from 9−4pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment. So what is the real story here? Beware this place, they will go out of their way to waste your time and are not at all interested in working around your schedule to serve you as a customer and make a sale. It’s been at least a month and I’ve never heard from Quarter Smith.
