Nothing could be finer than brunch in Marigny with a jumbo punch and their unique bennies. The croque madame was surprisingly less cheesy than usual, but delightful. Big Fan!

I really enjoyed my brunch here. The food is consistently good and gives a variety of options for the discriminating eater. Their specials vary from creative pancakes too new entrees. The most interesting item that I enjoy is the fried green tomato. This is because I don’t like generally fried green tomato. But their fried green tomato is delicious. I also really enjoy their delicately poached egg and generous biscuits. I think their best deal is the breakfast sandwich. However the banana Foster french toast is by far their signature dish and should be tried. Service is friendly and the restaurant is clean. They’ve managed the long lines by using technology to let us know when our table is ready. I used to not be that way and I applaud them for fixing that issue.

We ordered the shrimp n grits, St Charles chicken, banana foster french toast, and catfish. So good! Lots of flavor smothered in fried food. Come hungry. The bloody Mary was also really good, a nice kick.

Just went here last weekend while in town visiting my family for the holidays. I had wanted to go for some time, and it didn’t disappoint! We went around 9am on a Sunday morning and even for a group of 5, there was no wait time. We were brought right to our table & had excellent service from our waiter throughout(he was super personable, too!). I ordered the Eggs Cochon, which was perfect. I think the housemade biscuit made the dish; all the other dishes at the table looked great, too. Awesome spot for brunch, and I’d definitely reccomend checking this location out.

I was excited to come to this place. We had tried to come before but there was always a huge wait. I had the Cochon signature Benedict, and my husband the Blackstone. They were served promptly, but mine wasn’t as warm as I would’ve liked it. Good flavors, but huge. We both couldn’t finish them. We ordered the pancake special, pecan and bacon pancake. The pancake was very good. Overall this place was good, but it didn’t have the wow flavor factor for me. I liked Horn’s more. So, go give it a try and judge for yourself.

After a recommendation from a friend, I decided to try this place. After trying this place, I have to second guess whether we are truly friends. I thought that I would love this place just by reading the menu. I decided on the peach Bellini(good) and the croque madam(rushed and just not tasty at all.) I really wanted to like this place. It is in a great location, and quiet, unlike bourbon street which is awesome by the way. A bit of advice, if you decide to come here and it’s packed, just go to another brunch place. Not worth the hassle. Also maybe the meal was cold and rushed because it was packed. Still no excuse, but just trying to save my friendship. 2 stars because the Bellini was stronger than I thought it would be.

This is my favorite Ruby Slipper location mainly because it’s the least busy. They are the same in terms of flavor, menu and service. All top notch. The lady friend and I went here 1 Monday morning and were the only people here. The place is an old bank and looks the part in a classy way. I wasn’t thinking about alcohol at 8:00 am on a Monday but it was Happy Hour! Half priced Mimosas and Bloody Marry’s until 9am. An absolute steal! I ordered the Banana’s Foster Pain Perdu. Basically it’s french toast using french bread with a banana’s foster syrup, plenty of slided bananas and raisins. It comes with a side of applewood bacon. This is phenomenally good as one would expect. The menu is probably the biggest variety of any in the city. Eggs benedict dishes, omelets, sandwiches, hash dishes, shrimp and grits, and many more.

Friends who used to live in New Orleans recommended The Ruby Slipper Café for brunch, and I’m glad we listened! The food is great, the environment is comfortable, but the best part was the staff — they were kind, funny, quick, and super helpful. I had some of the best iced coffee on our trip here. The food was great — and we enjoyed an assortment of benedicts, the skinny migas, basic breakfast, and a la cart ordering(fruit, grits, and biscuit) and it was all very enjoyable. It is hard to find good biscuits in Maine, so I always order them when I’m in places that have them. The biscuit at The Ruby Slipper was the best I had in New Orleans — big and flaky and flavorful. Also, if you eat pork, do yourself a favor and get the pig candied bacon.

Place seems busy all the time so we went for breakfast. Eggs benediction ordered. Took forever. Had to hunt down waitress for coffee refill Potatoes were burnt, practically inedible. Sloppy eggs thrown on cold biscuit. Cold hollandaise sauce and not much of it. Really overrated. Seriously. Pass on this one

4.5-stars. During a week-long visit to NOLA, my wife and I frequented The Ruby Slipper twice — both occasions, enjoying a delicious breakfast with friendly service — but our epiphany moment occurred during our second visit with the St. Charles Chicken eggs Benedict(paired alongside a bacon-infused Bloody Mary) — easily one of the most delicious eggs Benedict’s of my illustrious Benedict-seeking career! Although busy, the Slipper kept service moving so that no one appeared to wait unnecessarily.

You know how you knock my socks off at a brunch place? It’s actually pretty simple. 1. Good service. 2. Good food. 3. Good coffee. It’s not complicated. Well done, Ruby Slipper. You nailed all three of these with aplomb. Sure, the day before we wanted to watch the soccer game on NBC Sports and your 3 bartenders had comically little idea on what to do, but hey, I forgive you. I get it. You’re not a sports bar. You are, however, a very excellent(and almost too popular) brunch spot with some awesome breakfast ideas. The service was absolutely excellent. Our waiter made recommendations for us based on what we were into, and, like so many others, I tried the Benedit Cachon, aka a bunch of eggs on pulled pork FUCKYEAH. It was pretty awesome. I ate it all. Even though I was disgusted with myself and not even THAT hungry. But it was so good I had to. The coffee is also quite good. Not the greatest, but very good and they kept it comin’. Which, given my life choices, is pretty key. Plus, the whole place was very reasonably priced. It didn’t hurt that it was my birthday and my buddy has to buy me breakfast as per the law. We got here early and if you don’t, you are definitely gonna wait. But give it a shot. The place is pretty awesome and worth the wait.

The food was good but not great. The service was awesome; she accommodated my picky roommate(whom I love — she also acknowledges that she’s particular lol) with a smile and everything came out correctly. She also let us hit up the 2 for 1 Bloody Mary deal even though we got sat at like 9:02 and it ended at 9:00. I also liked how you can mix n match with the eggs Benedicts and try two kinds — I got the fried chicken and pulled pork(yah I’m full right now). Didn’t realize the mix and match doesn’t come with a side of potatoes although it costs $ 2 more — kind of a buzz kill. Also it wasn’t hot. And the hollandaise I think was from a can/mix. It was decent but didn’t have a fresh, lemony, flavor. That being said it was still pretty good. I liked the pork and the chicken. This is my second time here and the time before was about the same in terms of food quality. It’s pretty good but I think Elizabeth’s is better(although a bit more expensive). Like the space; like the vibe. The manager(maybe owner, some person with authority) also checked in on us and was very sweet. So for all that I will come back.

The first attempt coming to ruby slipper, was a fail because it was a saturday around 12 pm. BIGMISTAKE. either get here early, or dont… or if you have off of work come during the week. Great servers & food comes out quick. menu isnt huge, but has variations and a little bit of everything for everyone. I loved the consistantcy of my grits but thought they needed more flavour. Coffee was on point. As was my meal. I got the breakfast sandwhich. Egg & cheese on a big biscuit with a deep fried green tomatoe. These green tomatoes are a hit down south,. but ruby slipper is the one place that made me like them. it had a batter on it and was deep fried perfectly, not to mention the soft, but tender and big biscuit my egg sat on. Messy but delicious. They even have a happy hour from 7 to9. AM that is =D

During our 5 day trip to New Orleans, we came here 3 mornings in a row for brunch because it was that good. This seems to be a pretty popular spot, so there was a wait one of the days, but they let you grab an iced coffee or a drink to help you pass the time. The interior is very spacious with both booth and table seating and atmosphere is very inviting. The staff here is very nice and attentive. There was 13 of us coming here for 3 days so collectively we have tried just about everything they have for breakfast. You can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu here so just get whatever sounds good to you and enjoy. My favorite was the Southern Breakfast, just cause it had everything i love, grits, eggs, bacon, biscuits and fried green tomatoes. It goes without saying their iced coffee is phenomenal as is most iced coffee in New Orleans. Will be back when I’m back in NOLA

Fantastic! Came here on a Monday morning for breakfast/brunch and this location was very quiet, which was a nice change of pace. To start, our waitress was extremely friendly, down to earth and pleasant. She was knowledgable and honest about her recommendations and did not annoy us with too frequent of table check-ins. On the way over, our Über driver mentioned how good the food was. He said he wasn’t usually a fan of sweet breakfast food, but that the Bananas Foster Pain Perdu (French-bread based french toast with rum-flambèed bananas & raisins, served with applewood-smoked bacon) was a must! He was right! The bread was so soft and it was sweet, but not too sweet. Also, the bacon was exceptional. I also had a vanilla/coffee flavored breakfast cocktail that was very tasty.

Time to update my initial review. On busy weekends I tend to avoid it because they get a little overwhelmed but during the week they do a nice job. The food is always quality some portions larger than others but fresh and creative. The staff can be a little hot and cold sometimes nice sometimes a little cold the next but I keep coming back so something has to work for me. Sometimes I just walk in order a coffee to go and walk home and they do make good coffee. I recommend the migas for breakfast and defiantly give their daily specials a try. Just be aware on weekends you might have a long wait but hey there are alway other options if it’s too long for your timeframe.

The ruby slipper is a nice place to dine and get away from the crowds in the quarter. We ordered the florentine omelette, which was good but a little on the oily side and the goat cheese was stuffed into one side of the omelette so there was a point of overload. My husband ordered the eggs cochon and everything about it was really good except for the poached eggs. They were undercooked. We saw that it happened to another table next to us as well. The waiter sent it back with no hesitation, but it certainly delays your day. We also ordered the blood orange mimosas but the blood orange juice wasn’t very citrusy and taste like cheap juice. It wasn’t the best mimosa I’ve ever had that’s for sure. The coffee tasted a little burned as well. It’s okay as long as you add cream. Not the best place we’ve ever eaten at but it could have been worse and the prices were reasonable.

On our last day in New Orleans, my girlfriend and I were looking for a quick, simple, and tasty breakfast so we visited The Ruby Slipper Café. The place wasn’t crowded at all on a Thursday morning, so we were seated immediately. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which included two scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese, pig-candy bacon, and a fried green tomato on a large housemade buttermilk biscuit. My girlfriend ordered a short stack of pancakes with chicken sausage. During Black Friday shopping last November, I bought myself a breakfast sandwich maker. Since then, I haven’t really felt the need to buy breakfast sandwiches from anywhere. However, the breakfast sandwich at Ruby Slipper was way better than anything I could make in my machine at home. The biscuit was huge and had a crispy buttery exterior with a soft, flaky interior. The pig-candy bacon was a little too sweet on its own, but it tasted great in the sandwich when mixed with the spicy creaminess of the cheese and the umami of the fried green tomato. This was easily the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. The pancakes and chicken sausage were both very good too. If you are looking for a good place to get breakfast in the Marigny neighborhood, I would highly recommend the Ruby Slipper Café.
