An excellent selection of comic books and almost everything in the store I looked at was a fair price — the salesperson working was very relaxed and down to earth — he was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for no problem — I’m very happy with my purchases and will most definitely be coming back here!

While visiting friends up in Newburgh, NY this past weekend; My friend and I took a ride to his old college town up in SUNY New Paltz with the primary mission of a little lunch and wander of the towns offerings along with a visit to the comic book store that he has highly recommended to me for a couple of years. This was the first time that I would be able to see what they were all about and that led me to this particular Unilocal. Now I am a pretty close to lifelong comic book fan and while I still read the occasional issue, was a hardcore collector for something like thirty years before it got a little too hard to financially keep the hobby at full strength and do the normal things in life at the same time. That being said I do enjoy wandering a quality comic store to see the things that they have in the event I want to snag a trade edition or some other kind of collectible. When you first walk into October Country Comics its a tad deceiving because there is a slight entrance way that points right at the counter to pay with some bookcases of hardcovers and trade books to your left. Once you turn right you see scores of bookcases that are loaded to the hilt with these kind of tomes and many that you will not easily find elsewhere based on the sheer number(unless you are using that is). Clearly this is the place to help you along in building a solid library of the classic tales. Further on back are the back-issue boxes and they are smartly separated by company. If you need Marvel, go here, if you need DC go there. I had been looking for a few issues to complete a little over a handful of missing ones from«The New 52» line from DC and was able to secure almost everything that I needed. Mission accomplished for me for sure. Of course there are also several turning racks that the newer issues are stocked on and while I never liked this method of serving up comics based on the chance of marring the quality of the book, they did have everything here neat and tidy. I hope to be up this way again sometime in the future to see what else they have and suggest if you are a fan of the medium and can do so, that you visit the place.

Took my 8-year-old niece here yesterday. She was a little apprehensive, but the guys who work here were totally understanding of her. They introduced themselves, showed her to a little corner of family-friendly fare, and let her sit on the floor reading through her first comics. I myself had a few things to pick up, and the guys were talkative, informative, and not at all condescending or rude. Had a great experience and will for sure be back.

This is the best comic shop outside of the city, in my opinion. HUGE selection of current titles, trade paperbacks, graphic novels, and back issues. One thing I appreciated was that they keep the last few months of back issues on the shelves/racks with no mark-up, they’re all still cover price. The discount dungeon is also great, there’s a treasure trove of good stuff waiting to be found. I spent an afternoon here a few months ago going through EVERYSINGLEBOX and found tons of back issues I needed for dirt cheap, as well as some random things from the ‘70s and early ‘80s(my favorite era of comics). The staff is pretty helpful and friendly, too. Easy to find and ample parking, to boot. An awesome place to get your funny books.

The best comic book store within a two hour driving radius. More back issues than most stores carry these days, pretty much every new book each week, subscription ordering, and good people to talk to comics about(both the staff and the regulars). If you’re a comic book person and you’re in the area make a point of checking it out.

Great people, wide selection of comics from the big 2 plus indie publishers. If they don’t have it, they will get it if you ask. Some gaming supplies, but it is not the shop focus. Sign up for a subscription, get a discount on your purchases. Sharp, smart staff who are friendly to new folks as well as the regulars.

I love this joint!!! I have been going to October Country since it opened in the 70’s. This is the classic comic shop that anyone over the age of 25 will remember. A little cramped, books stacked everywhere and stuff all over the walls. — And thats what makes this place great!!! There’s a reason this place has been open for so long and is the best shop in the Hudson Valley and this side of NYC. Good selection and helpful staff. A little something for all collectors and fans.
