I have been waiting for this diner to open but it wasn’t worth the wait. Food is expensive and bland. Even though I think Nautilus is bad they are better than this place. The food made me sick afterwards. Ugh!

Great diner — went here for breakfast and the omelette was perfect. The staff that managed was very nice and hospitable and the server was very attentive and made sure our coffee, food and drinks were to our liking. The inside was very clean and everything was very new and nice looking. This is definitely a vast improvement on the old diner located on the street over. I will definitely make this place my to go when in the mood for good diner fare. 5 stars !

Great food, convenient location, good service. This is a family oriented establishment and I always receive a warm welcome. New Rochelle was in need of a good diner — this is it. Highly recommended!

I have made a couple of visits to this diner mostly because it was my last option due to other places being filled or closed the food is ok extremely over-priced. After my last experience at this location I will never visit again I walked in being rushed to sit down there happened to be a very slippery area on the floor which caused me to fall the old woman who was walking me to my seat turned around and quickly said well you fell because of the shoes you wore our floor is clean no sorry are you ok. Thankfully a doctor happened to be there Nd helped me up and suggested I get an x-ray which I did. But as I walked out of the restaurant hopping all I recieved was attitude and dirty looks from the staff.

I left a negative review months ago and for some crazy reason I still find myself there at least once a week. The cheesecake is actually priced lower than some of the nearby restaurants. The place is all decorated for the holidays and it looks nice. Last time I was there I had an awesome waitress named Debbie and she gave me a huge slice of cake. The bum went south for the winter sooooooo… 5 stars !!!

Very expensive for a diner. Service was acceptable. Upon leaving it’s required that the customer brings the check to the cashier, apposed to the waiter taking your form of payment and bringing back your change. This may cost the waiter his /her tip if you choose not to want to walk back to the table!

The New Rochelle Diner: The attempted resurrection of one of NYs best«The Thruway Diner» but a complete miss. I remember the Sunday mornings my father would pack the family and I up in the 4 door wagon and drive us down to buzzing New Ro, New York. The memories I had at the one and only Thru Way Diner were some of the best I’ve ever had, but this new attempt is just upsetting. I went in with high expectations because of the local buzz but I was surely mistaken. He food was mediocre at best(besides the bacon that was money) that vanilla shake was upsetting and the waitress I had was very rude. I could rant on and on, but let me get to the point. Besides the nice scenery there’s nothing much to this place besides a long wait, rude staff, and ok food. Not worth the time, and it saddens me as a Westchester man myself. La Felle

Cute, makes me want to sing ‘Happy Days’. The food is hearty and portioned well. Seems like they are always busy, so that’s always a good sign of great food… right?! Right! :) I say hop on a train if you’re in the city and eat at this diner. :)

Back to the scene of the dine… Breakfast on 8⁄30: Eggs Benedict, a guilty pleasure that I have 2 or 3 times a year. The wait staff have gotten so stressed and unhappy since the last time I was here for dinner. No one is smiling no heartfelt interaction. The presentation on the Benedict was overdone, a huge side dish with the eggs on a large plate with the potatoes, which I did not touch. Potatoes were void of any color or appetizing attribute. The eggs, one poached well done and one medium were ok, the Hollandaise was watered down to probably last thru service. English Muffin not toasted well and no garnish on the plate. Coffee was bitter but fresh and good, no follow up during the meal from wait staff. This property is a gold mine which I will never step foot in again. From the counter vantage point I saw numerous code violations, I stayed away from the room temp. butter in the basket at the counter. At the cashier no dialogue, nothing, she should be thanking me for spending almost $ 15 on eggs and Canadian Bacon on a soggy English Muffin. And yet the parking lot is packed and a line a t the door, What a country!!!

Honest review. We took a break from Royal Coach on Boston Post road to give New Rochelle Diner a shot. I’ve come to one conclusion the people living in these surrounding areas don’t know good food. It’s true smaller towns with less establishments are far better than the over crowded boroughs serving garbage to its customers as food. The sad part is it’s acceptable people actually think it’s good food. Please travel people because only then you will know just how bad the food in NY really sucks and OVER priced. Let’s carry on… I took my wife and little girl for a late breakfast on Sunday. The food was terrible! Don’t know how anyone could mess up making breakfast. I had the Hungry man breakfast which was a hard waffle(who the hell wants to eat a hard waffle. The eggs scrambled were wet and cold which were no more than two. The turkey sausage lets just say if that comes with breakfast then I’d rather pay for coffee with the meal. Speaking of which I did pay for coffee a meal that was 11.99 did not come with coffee.(Hungry man huh) I’ve been to places where 8.99 gets you Free coffee. Btw that cup was like 2 and change. Now to the owner/partners please understand this review is not made to tarnish or ruin your business model. It’s simple my opinion on what a diner is suppose to be and who you are. Never been a fan of writing reviews as much as reading but I’m noticing a trend that under achieving restaurants are being bolstered with great reviews. If you can feed people that garbage you should be able to except their honest opinion. Bill $ 45 for 3 people.

The Thruway Diner was a favorite of many in the New Rochelle area for many, many years including myself. You always knew you would get a good solid meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The fresh baked rolls they had melted in your mouth. So why am I bringing up the old diner on the new diners review? Human nature, people will automatically compare the two! They just opened up Monday and do not have their liquor license yet, but they are very busy with a line to get in. For being so new and so busy, I have to say they were very organized and service was good! The menu is the typical huge assortment of choices with an extra menu of lunch specials. Whenever I review diners, I always choice 1 or 2 of my top 5 diner favorite foods. This time we order to start their chicken noodle soup and Matza ball soup. They were good and the flavor was spot on, but they could add a little bit more of the chicken meat. For entrees we had their Gyro platter with Greek salad and French fries and their open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and broccoli. The hot opened face turkey was nice and was a large portion! Turkey was fresh and the mashed potato was a good texture and flavor. The gravy was very light and could have had a bit more taste but overall a solid dish. The pita was your standard Greek dish with a small Greek salad loaded with feta cheese and an excellent salad dressing. The pita though had too many onions in it. The Tzatziki sauce was good but not great. French fries were very good and crispy! Unfortunately the rolls here did not live up to their predecessors. They were just ok. I was somewhat dismayed by the color scheme they used, even though everything was brand new and shiny, it looked like they designed it back in the 70’s with the orange, black and red theme. But maybe they were trying for the nostalgic diner theme. All in all, it was a nice diner experience and will return to try their breakfast and their burgers! Welcome to the New Rochelle diner!

Just went in with my wife after work and got some breakfast. Greek omelette, toast, and a side of corned beef hash. Wife got a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes. I thought everything tasted real good considering its a diner. I didn’t expect Eric Ripert manning the grill in the back. Come on folks– what are we really expecting here? In the end, it’s a good diner, the menu is as extensive as any other diner, service is so-so like any other diner but the most important thing here is that it helps to fill a void for the area. We should be back.

ehhhhh Diner food —big portions but quality average at best. Frozen, cold onion rings etc. Service not too good at all and gets 2 stars. Someone needs to train the waitstaff — teach them to smile and be friendly and remind them that a tip is based on how happy I am with your service — it is not mandatory(yet). Felt like I was being served by a mortician. Prices reflect the obviously huge investment these guys made. I wish you success, but you’re lacking on the simple stuff. TRAINYOURWAITSTAFF.

It’s a diner, I’m not sure what people expect. You go in, you eat«so-so» food and you leave. The place is new, clean, and the service is fast. People are crazy, you know how you rate a diner?.. one star if you get good poisoning, five stars if you don’t. One star if there’s lipstick on the brim of your glass, five stars if there isn’t. One star if there’s a dried morsel of food on your knife, five stars if there’s not. So, to sum up my experience, the food didn’t make me sick, the edge of my glass was clean, and my knife was spotless, FIVESTARS.

This is one of the worst diners I have ever eaten at. It’s expensive, the food is not tasty, the servers all seem over worked and stressed. The first time I went there I ordered a bacon swiss burger deluxe. The meat was flavorless and the bun was a cheep potato roll. But I figured I’d give them another chance since they just opened. This time I ordered a gyro platter. It was the worst gyro I’ve ever had and the server seemed like he was working a 16 hour shift, and called me ‘Papo’. This place could have potential buy the food is slop.

Looks nice but thats about it. First came here with my girlfriend and picked up some desserts. Typically diner deserts in that they looked really good but tasted like every other diner dessert(not good). I was hoping they would give the BLDs«big chocolate cake» a run for their money, since the big chocolate cake happens to be a lot of money at 8 dollars a slice. However, it did not come close, and it looks like i’ll be shelling out major money to just to be able to get a good slice of cake at a diner.

This diner has been long awaited by many. Ever since the much-loved Thru-Way Diner(which was located across the street) closed in 2008, residents of New Rochelle have been without a local diner. Enter New Rochelle Diner, which hopes to fill the void that the Thruway left. Though it is natural to compare New Rochelle Diner to the Thru-Way, it’s actually more accurate to look to the Nautilus Diner in Mamaroneck for comparison since they’re owned by the same people; I frequently eat at the Nautilus and recognized many of the employees from there. They did a good job with the construction and design of the diner, it’s big and open with splashes of reds, yellows, and oranges on the walls and booths. I prefer cooler colors to decorate a diner but this scheme works fine. I actually tried getting in here last week but I could not find a spot in the lot and the line to get in was out the door. This time, however, I had better luck and waited less than five minutes for a table. The menu is extensive and has a good selection of most things a diner serves. The bread basket is worth noting because it contained a lot of different types of breads, plus saltine crackers, Melba toast, and sesame breadsticks. The food is pretty much the same as they serve at the Nautilus, and that’s okay because I like their food — compared to other diners I find the quality to be a little higher. Tonight I had the chicken BLT wrap which came with a side of cole slaw and a pickle, though no fries(you have to order it separately — don’t really understand that). Nevertheless, it was tasty as expected. Service is a sore spot here, I’ve found it takes a while for anyone to come to our table after we’ve been seated(even times when it was relatively quiet). Moreover, the quality of the service is average; they’re relatively new in the area so they should be wowing clients with customer service. For me, it’s a convenient spot to go to and the food is good; that alone will make me return. Hopefully they brush up on their service, but we’ll see.

So, I went in for breakfast and was very disappointed. Waited 30 minutes for my order and the food was cold. My turkey sausage was undercooked and my eggs were raw. My husband’s french toast had no flavor. And the service was terrible. May not come again. Too bad; this place is a few blocks from my home.
