A last minute«why not» choice for dinner one evening. From the outside it has that kinda run-down look a lot of these older places have but don’t let that put you off. The inside has that eighties feel to it but honestly, what can you really do with it anyhow? Not a buffet, order from the menu and get table service. Take-out if you like of course. Server most pleasant, attentive but not in an over your shoulder way like some of the Chinese buffet places where you barely put your fork down and they’re off and running with the old plate. We tend to stick to a handful of favorites when we first try a place. If they get the General Tso and the Sweet & Sour chicken dishes right then we can assume they have the gameplay down. Both were ok, generous portions, the veggie and rice sides good and ample. Why just three stars? Not being harsh as everything was ok but so are the dozens of others in the areas I frequent. Just nothing memorable that would make this«the one» I’d go out of my way to eat at. So go, enjoy.

I have one meal I always order when I try a new take out place. General tso chicken, fried rice, and an eggroll. First, the chicken: sauce was decent, thick, and plentiful, just as I like it. Good use a tad more flavor.(I like mine face melting spicy) but no complaints here. The temperature of the chicken was hot and fresh too, so a positive chicken experience. The fried rice, not so good. Had a funny after taste that I couldn’t place. Egg roll was not bad, not good, but not bad. It too had a funny taste. Almost tasted a little old. Good crisp though. Last, the cost When I went on Unilocal, and seen the single«$» I was excited for a good cheap meal. I was wrong My combo costed 13 $ before the tip. Not outstanding, but way to much for the quailty of food. The serving size was more then enough to feed me. But can’t justify spending the 13 bucks

Had a pretty decent meal. Wish it would have been white chicken, but it still tasted good! The servings were more than enough and service was very good… Thought the food itself was average for Chinese.

The food is horrible. I ordered shrimp with walnuts. I got chicken with walnuts except there were no walnuts!!! The chicken has absolutely no taste. The previous made great chinese food. The current owner is bad, very bad.

Average Chinese. They were unable to give me an itemized receipt. They also forgot to give me my soda. I had to go back and get them. The General Tso’s I it was a little spicy, but nothing that was spectacular. They also forgot to give me chopsticks. By the same hotel and craving Chinese this will be okay. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to drive here to get it.

We were passing through New Stanton on July 4th, and most of the restaurants were closed. We went to this place and were pleasantly surprised. Our hot and sour soup was served immediately. It wasn’t very spicy but it was good. We also had shrimp in lobster sauce, fried rice and Szechuan green beans. The shrimp were large and plump and cooked just right. The fried rice was delicious and had pieces of chicken mixed in. The green beans were hot and spicy mixed with sautéed onions in a bit of brown sauce. Yummy! The server was friendly especially since we were the only people dining in. Two other people came in for carry-out while we were there. Our meal ended with some complimentary pineapple chunks. Total bill was about $ 25. The menu was extensive, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. If we pass this way again, we will go back.

Six reasons to stay away listed below: New to the area, didn’t feel like cooking for the lady and I so we called for take out. Phone was busy and so we figured we’d just dine in. We were going to order the small dinner portions($ 7.50 for chicken dishes, not too pricey) and so we knew what we wanted when we arrived. 1. Server didn’t make eye contact, was distracted and looking at the T.V. rather than us when she arrived to take our order. 2. She wasn’t friendly or hardly audible when she spoke. 3. She wasn’t very helpful in describing the dishes when my girlfriend asked her to explain how a couple of them were prepared. So, the lady ordered sweet and sour chicken and I ordered curry chicken. The complimentary tea was nice. Then ‘dinner arrived’. 4. The portions were huge. Sure enough, when the bill arrived I saw that they gave us the ‘large’ portions without ever asking if we wanted small or large portions. This resulted in a bill that was outside of our budget for eating out tonight. This really made me mad. 5. My curry was okay, but not good. I asked for it to be spicy when I ordered, to which the waitress told me, «It’s already spicy». It arrived and it wasn’t the slightest bit spicy. WTF? 6. The dish they gave my girlfriend had PLAIN(no seasoning) chicken that were deep-fried and complimented with a few slices of steamed onion and carrot as well as a dish of rice and a soup bowl FILLED with sweet dipping sauce. Are you kidding me?! Who eats plain, fried chicken with rice and then washes it down with a bowl of sweet sauce… anyway, not what either of us expected or found appetizing. That’s all. They didn’t do anything wrong explicitly, so I willingly paid the bill, but damn, the food was simply not good. And not for $ 28.89!!! Szechuan Wok won’t see me ever again. Sorry.

Stuck in the area on Easter Sunday, so most other places where closed. The service was good and attentive, the food was average Chinese food. No alcohol here; sad how that still exists in 2014; big brother interfering with my dining experience; liquor licences always go to the highest briber… :(Portion size was decent and dinner special came with a free soup choice and an egg roll. If I were stuck here again would eat here again as there is really nothing else around besides fast food.

Quaint and friendly. Vast menu of inexpensive options including several soups that work well after a day of skiing. This is not fancy or over the top. But the price to food quality ratio is excellent and this place is a great stop to feed a carful of hungry teens.

Given its location, this is likely the best food in the area, but that is not saying too much. Still, the food itself is serviceable, and in at least one respect, quite good. The dumplings, with their homemade dough, were really very good. My daughter loved them, and they were moist without being gummy. Otherwise, the food was too heavy on the sauce, the egg drop soup too gelatinous and the sesame noodles too bland. The couple who own the place are so kind and sweet, it’s worth eating there just to support them. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very dated, too dark and drab, but it was not terrible. They had the radio playing on a station that had a bit of static, which annoyed me, but not enough to mention it. In all, if you are staying over in a local hotel, this place beats Pizza Hut and Bob Evans.

Service was fast and super friendly and food was good as well as the prices. A great choice for dinner for me, my husband and our ten year old daughter before a 4 hour drive home.

Very good food, same owners for many years, fast service and great prices. If you’re in the New Stanton area, this IS the best food choice!

I gave this restaurant 3 stars for a few reasons, so please use this information however you want. Let me start by saying that the food was incredible and if you have a chance to stop I highly encourage you to get take-out. But beware. First, it’s a little divey. Chinese restaurants can sometimes get away with this, but this place really needs some love – dated flowers, wallpaper, etc. Second, the bathrooms were stinky(not pooh smelling, just not aired out very often). Staff was super friendly and helped us move through our meal quickly with our little one. Prices were great and like I said earlier, the food itself was excellent. My only suggestion is just to do the take-out route and call it a day. Best thing is their value dinners if you get there outside of lunch. It was a dinner size portion, but you got soup and an eggroll for a very low price.

I frequented Szechuan Wok two to three times a week from 03 – 05′ when I was at the local community college. Since then I’m not in the area nearly enough, but stop in any chance I get. Over the years I got to try most of the menu, whether it was one of the 20 or so lunch specials, or the dinner specialities that could easily feed two. The food is pretty typical Chinese, but what usually makes or breaks a Chinese place for me are my three most ordered items; hot tea. Wonton soup, and General Tso’s. The tea and wonton soup are both a little better than the average, but the General Tso’s is still my favorite after 8 years. I prefer it on the hotter side, but they make it however you like it. What it doesn’t taste like is a reseasoned sweet and sour sauce, which may be my biggest Chinese pet peeve. The food is great, but what makes this my favorite is the service, I was a regular and the three familiar faces of Szechuan Wok that I came to know were all very friendly and often struck up conversation despite a small language barrier. Go for lunch to see the restaraunt packed full and enjoy a frugal meal, or show up later to have a quiet and quaint Chinese joint to yourself.

This is typical ghetto chinese joint right off the highway. I stayed near here, and was dying for something other than typical American food, so I gave a shot. Food was… okay, like I said, this is average chineese food you can get at most of America. And volume was big, enough for breakfast next day. Food was made fast and the lady working there was nice. Good size parking lot, if you are staying at hotel near by this is good alternative.
