i went to seven different places on canal st to hawk some ugly gold jewelry… it was kind of crazy. lots of seedy characters in the business… anyway!
this place offered the most, and also their scales were accurate. all the other places i went to seem to have rigged scales and told me i had wildly varying amounts of gold. one shop told me i had 2g, while dragon jewelry weighed and said i had six!

Grams comes to this store to look at the jewels and also chat it up with the girls behind the counter. They are so patient with her. She doesn’t necessarily buy anything either. But they know things.
Old ladies will follow old traditions like presenting a dragon and pheonix gold bangles at a wedding. Old ladies will put up horded savings for these old traditions. These Old traditions are expensive.
Regardless of purchase or not, they treat her so sweetly. More often than not, Grams purchases nothing. They still show her the goods and sometimes has a weak bout of haggling which leads to nothing. So maybe they really aren’t entirely out to get her money. Maybe they just know how to treat a customer.
I watch other customers walk in here and get treated respectfully too.
Prices are not bad. At least you get treated nicely like a human being.
