I’m addicted to their doner on pita. The chicken doner is quite nice, but I love the lamb for its unadulterated lamby goodness. The spice mix is subtle, which is fine by me, but what makes me very happy is that it’s not heavily salted like you find with the street vendors’ lamb plates. I seriously had to curb my visits to the Halal carts because I could literally feel my blood pressure shoot up afterwards. I’m sure the white sauce(which is really just doctored up mayonnaise) didn’t help either. On the other hand, Adana’s lebni/hydari is thick, tangy and delicious. Since they’re located a block away I sometimes drop by just for a large serving of that to complement the home made kebab I make on my well worn Ronco Rotisserie from the infomercials. LOL. It’s a lot easier than shelling walnuts, chopping herbs, juicing lemons and straining yogurt through cheesecloth. Mostly, I just like the Turkish friendliness and hospitality of the guys behind the counter. I may be a little biased, though, because Turkey rates very high on the bucket list of nations I would like to explore in depth. I’m currently saving for a once in a lifetime, long-term, round the world adventure and I’m drawn to Turkey for its location as a thoroughfare for so many cultures over the millennia, as well as its diverse landscape, artistic heritage and above all, its culinary tradition. But when I’m too lazy to cook at all, this is a nice option near my job. For around ten bucks they really stuff that pita(or flatbread or wrap) chock full of meat. They do NOT skimp. And the ratio of sauce and veggies to meat means you get two sizeable meals or one gigantic belly buster of a meal. Either way it’s ten bucks well spent.

I work in the area and I almost daily go in to Bocca Bliss right next door, so one day I decided to eat in Adana Grill, Im glad that I did. I have eaten there 4 times, now, and I can Honestly say that the food there is excellent., The Gyro is NEVER overcooked as is almost always the case with these Mediterranean type grills, that also goes for the chicken as well, the Doner is EXCELLENT like everything else. It is not very expensive, as some of these type of places can get. All in all this is a GREAT little Place to get something a little different every once in a while. Its very small so don’t blink as you are going down 3rd ave, right next door to Bocca Bliss

There’s no flavor to the lamb kabob. How is this even possible? The sauce is watered down as well. Weak sauce, guys. Don’t skimp on the salt.

Oily and small portions. The owner of the place doesn’t ever think to say Thank you or Have a Nice Day. Omar’s on 55th is MUCH better. You’re welcome.

This is the best Mediterranean food. The delivery is always hot and fresh and comes pretty quickly. Everything is good — the pita sandwiches, falafel, everything tastes home made.

Too expensive for generic Turkish food. I used to come here occasionally for lunch when I was working around the corner. It’s probably the only Turkish place in the immediate area. The pita sandwich is too small for lunch, thinking I could get away with a lunch for 8 dollars. For a decent size portion I would order the chicken kabob platter, 12 something dollars, and not very memorable. Lamb platter would cost you a couple of dollars extra. They used to give you a piece of Turkish bread if you order the platter. The bread is probably the best thing on the menu. One time I wanted to buy a bread separately, but they told me they don’t have any, even though I could clearly see it behind the counter. Maybe that bread was prepared for a large to go order, but it just came across as rude. They also have fries on the menu for four dollars? Wow! Service is not friendly at all, in fact a bit grumpy. You can dine in, but it is very small and gets packed at peak lunch hours. In winter it was super cold inside. Would not come back if I’m in the area. The middle eastern food carts in the area have tastier food.

My local spot for doner. The chicken doner is great in a pita or Turkish bread. The guys are also super friendly.

I’ve only ever gotten takeout from here but it’s been really reliably good every time. Prices could be a bit lower though.

nice fast casual turkish place. prices are in line with other turkish places. their platters(rice, salad, meat and bread) come in two sizes: small(approximately $ 8) or large(approximately $ 15 or more). I would say the large is a decent portion of food but if you are hungry you can easily devour it. their meats are flavorful. the sandwich comes standard in a pita pocket, but you can pay a little extra for turkish bread instead of pita.

Food is ok serving is small Staff sometimes nice sometimes rude or maybe thats the way they talk to people. Hot sauce and white sauce are not free Why other restaurant will give the sauce for free with out any cost food is flavorless cook is not wearing hat. Make sure when you eat here you bring your own hot sauce and white sauce because it will cost you $ 1.00 or 50cent plus tax

Delicious Turkish/Mediterranean food! It is literally homemade and reminds me of my mom’s cooking. Very fresh ingredients and prices are not bad given the large portion sizes. I tried the Chicken Shish Kebab platter and got a side of the eggplant/tomatoes. Both dishes were delicious and cannot wait to go back.

Friend and I each got a «small» plate of kebab to stay. Staff was nice and accommodating, and the food was not bad for a decent price. Kafta: My dish. It was very flavorful and juicy, but way too salty. Lamb Gyro: Friend’s dish that I tried. Portion was larger on this one. Not as flavorful, not as salty, and a little bit dry. Not bad but not great. Accompaniments were great and the rice was particularly delicious. I also loved the pickled cabbage, I believe, that was served alongside. Would be back for convenience(near Grand Central), but it’s not on the top of my list.

I really miss the cheap halal food and gyros I had in London, so it was a pleasant surprise to find Adana Grill just around the corner from my flat when I moved to NY! Generous portions, great prices and friendly staff made this my favourite take-away place. The plates and sandwiches were always overflowing with meat and other sorts of fillings, and everything was very well-spiced. You could always ask for extra sauce if you liked things on the spicier side, even though what they had by default had a good-enough kick. Recommend getting their lamb doner and pairing with a nice bottle of zin or full-bodied cab. I’ve had this as food to go with wine tastings and it hasn’t let me down.
This place has recently become one of my favorites spots for lunch. The people who are complaining about the food being bland here have probably only ever had the gyros or kebabs on the carts, which are loaded with seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder etc, which to me do not taste natural. I’ve tried the chicken doner kebab sandwich, falafel sandwich, falafel platter and lamb adana kebab sandwich. They give you a very generous amount of chicken and even without the sauces they give you I think it has plenty of flavor. The falafel platter is also pretty huge(much better than the sandwich). They also stuff the pita(which is chewy but fluffy) with plenty of fresh, crisp vegetables. I always see a large line outside GRK a block away and I have no idea why. I had a chicken sandwich from there and it was so dry– I would never get anything from them again. I wouldn’t want Adana Grill to get too crowded, but I think they deserve more business(it does get pretty busy during peak hours since they are small though).

Finally came after passing by many times on my lunch break. Short lunch line was ordering everything from kebabs to doner. I opted for the chicken doner plate with no rice and extra salad. Chicken was good but bland, as were the salads even after the red«hot» sauce and white sauce. I’ve had better Turkish food and I think this was a bit pricy for $ 13 lunch for mosty veggies.

I am rating 4 because after trying 4 different lamb gyros in the neighborhood this one is the best. I also brought in a group of friends they all agreed. Lamb gyro is the best in the neighborhood. Small shop but worth trying.

Named after a city in Southern Turkey, I stopped In and out to pick up a chicken donner kebab sandwich for lunch. $ 8 and change for the sandwich. Place was generally empty around 12:30pm; not a great sign in NYC… Service was fast and efficient. Sauce(both white & red) were pretty bland. Sandwich was also bland(even with sauces added). Not much flavor . I think food carts in the area offer a tastier, more pleasing ‘sandwich’-style lunch meal for around the same price. Glad I tried it but not a place I would return to. Sorry Adana, I won’t be Back-a . Whoaaa… Within an hour of eating here I wasn’t feeling too well. Bad meal??? Not sure, but won’t try again.

I have no idea why this place gets bad reviews. I think the spicy chicken kebab is quite possibly one of the best pieces of chicken I have had! They grill it for you and then it is served with rice, salad and a side of bread. It is a bit pricey at $ 12, but you get a lot of food! They have a seating area although it’s quite small and usually pretty full at peek lunch hours. Worth trying at least once if you are tired of the usual spots for lunch in midtown.

Not, the worst chicken gyro I’ve ever but pretty damn bad. Cold, soggy, and waaayyyyyy over priced $ 8. The fries were a different story… perfectly salted and fried well. If you’re craving over priced French fries($ 4) this is the place to go.
