Came here a while back with my niece for her birthday. LOVELY. We got the full tea party. Because I am gluten –free, she got most of it. She ordered the smores(really it is was just one HUGE smore) and it was delightful! They sang happy birthday to her and made it a special day that I am sure she will not forget. I wish they had a better gluten free menu, otherwise I would make this spot a must.

Can never go wrong with going to Alice’s tea cup. Can get busy from time to time! But it’s simply a wonderful place with amazing food.

What wonderful scones we had today! We started with the pumpkin with caramel topping scone and then added the buttermilk scone as a ‘side dish’! haha We THOUGHT about the ham and cheese as a savory scone option, but then… we weren’t going to get as much of the clotted cream!!! And that just WOULDN’T DO! So… sweet scones it was. Now, don’t think they are sickly sweet — oh no! They are just the right amount of sweet with the yummy clotted cream and a dollop of jam layered over that lovely cream I keep mentioning… speaking of that… why aren’t there clotted cream flavored scones?(just a side thought… but, seriously?) ;-D Then, the tea. There are about 6 – 8 pages of teas. It was like a Cheesecake Factory menu of teas… we asked for advice but ended up not taking it and trying an Indian chai that sounded wonderful when served with added milk and honey. Mmmmm! Am entire pot of hot tea… yummy scones… and my sweet, sweet youngest daughter across from me. What could be better??? Well, only having my other 2 adorable daughters sharing it with us, that’s what! teeheehee This is the 3rd Alice’s Tea Cup and I heard our server tell a couple of girls that came in after us that they don’t serve breakfast and she was sad. He said they never did, but that the other locations do. So… keep that in mind if you’re going for breakfast… for me? It was after 11am… I was no longer thinking of eggs anyway!

So I did a little research on finding a place fit for kids & stumbled upon this place. I brought my nieces here to enjoy their birthday lunch. They were pleased. One of them had the Alice burger with fries & the other one had the tenders with fries, I had the smoke salmon with greens & a passion fruit black tea. I’m a tea lover so it work out coming here. I recommend this place to a few girl friends of mine with kids. The only thing I found odd that on a late Saturday afternoon they only had one server. Don’t get me wrong she did a great job just that since she was alone things were taking a little longer then expected :(

Yummy scones! I love that they have a great variety of them as well as seasonal choices. We did high noon for 2 to get the whole experience. I love tea time and did it a lot back in California so I’m glad I found a place in NYC I really enjoy! Really cute place to bring your sister or girlfriend or mom where you can sit and chat for a few hours and enjoy their immensely extensive tea list! Can’t wait to go back again

We came here with the Groupon deal: $ 20 for 2 drinks and $ 10 towards sweets. I got a chapoudier something white($ 11) and my friend just swapped the drink for a coffee(yeah I know, but they are very accommodating). We two shared a carrot cake($ 7) and a ham-and-cheese scone($ 4). So we were $ 1 above the deal. The carrot cake was too sweet, although the portion was okay. My drink was a mid-sized glass of white wine, while the taste was just like those cheap wines(they said this is their homemade wine). However, the scone was really good. Not too greasy and was crispy outside. In a word, the food(based on what we had) was really a 2.5 star, but our server was really nice and attentive, so I raised it to a 3 star.

Unfortunately, the place I had book-marked did me wrong this time. Place is cramped, service is really slow(table was ready when we walked in — had to wait 10+ minutes to sit down), kitchen is not up to par and waiters are careless about the actual order. I wouldn’t be too sure they care about negative Unilocal reviews :)

This a cute place with options for omnis and vegans. I haven’t been to an Alice’s in a while but my dining companions complained that they raised the prices way too much. I got the Warm Lentil Salad(without bacon), it was around $ 18. What I got was really tart lentils with carrots on wilting lettuce. It could have been better. Or I could have just gone to Le Pain Quotidien up the block and gotten a better salad for a similar price. However, Alice’s real appeal is their tea selection, which is really great. Despite the good customer service, it’s really cramped, and the lack of attention to detail(dirty silverware and cups) really turned me off to this location. I won’t be back.

I love this place. I would love it even more if they took reservations! The theme of Alice’s Tea Cup is Alice in Wonderland. It’s perfect for kids, girls who lunch, and dates for people with a kid inside of them. The decorations are fantastic. The food is also extremely good. I absolutely love their scones. They have different scones everyday and I’ve tried both the sweet and savory scones and all of them are fantastic. To eat, I’ve had the eggs benedict on a scone — a bit overpriced but delicious. The tea is also quite good and I recommend getting a pot to share which is super cute. The major problem with this place is the wait. They give you an approximate amount of time and then call you when the table is ready. The problem is that this time is really a gross estimate. I’ve had them tell me 90 minutes and then they call 15 minutes later after I already sat down somewhere else to brunch. I’ve also had them tell me 30 minutes and it’s been 90 minutes so who knows. Given, this is likely not their fault since people don’t pick up or take their names off the list but still, there must be a better way to do this. Start taking reservations! It would make everyone’s lives easier. The service here is also not very good. I’ve had the waiters be rude to be before and it take about 20 minutes just to get a glass of water. However, I still really like this place and will likely be back in the future. A great unique place to take out of town guests too!

One of my good friends has been raving about this chain for a while, so since this location is right down the street from me, I finally decided to stop in! I did have to put my name down first and wait for 45 minutes, but I didn’t mind since I just went back home to wait until they called me. The location is very busy, and pretty cramped. We had really slow service, even though our waiter was delightful. We also ordered a pot of tea, and waited for 30 minutes before they had enough teacups to give us! My food was pretty good – ordered the salmon benedict– but pretty expensive($ 19?) and wasn’t anything special. The teas options were very varied, and apparently the scones are delicious, but there isn’t anything terribly special except for the whimsical tea-time specials.

I came here and only had to wait a few minutes which was great. I went for the tea for three option which came with 3 pots of tea(the Rose mélange was my favorite) and 2 sandwiches(an open faced smoked salmon, and the lapsang souchong smoked chicken breast) and 4 scones and assorted cookies and a mocha cake. The scones with the cream and jam were DELICIOUS. We got a pumpkin scone, blueberry strawberry scone, vegan scone(my favorite), and a savory ham scone. They were perfectly cooked and satisfying. The sandwiches weren’t my favorite part of the meal but they weren’t too bad either. They just weren’t that special. The cookies weren’t anything special either but that mocha cake was amazing. Overall, some winning moments(the scones and tea mainly) but also some misses. I loved the whimsical experience though and the cute décor. It was a perfect little setting to catch up with friends!

I came here with a few friends around Christmas to catch up and enjoy some tea and scones. I’ll admit I’m not really a tea person, so I don’t have a ton of comparisons to make on the actual tea itself. I chose Anna’s Earl Grey, which was enjoyable and seemed to be a pretty standard Earl Grey. I also had a pumpkin scone, which was served warm and seemed fresh. It was nicely spiced and not overly sweet, and made a good companion to the warm tea. Service was a little lacking. Everyone was very friendly but we did wait quite a while for our orders to be taken, for the tea/scones to come out, and again for the check. The whole experience took nearly two hours, which is a bit long considering we weren’t having a full meal. I think the décor could use a little work as well. It’s not bad, but the idea of an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea shop evokes an image of something a little fancier.

This is a great place to get high tea, brunch, lunch or an early dinner. The tea menu is extensive and the wait staff are always eager to give recommendations and explanations of the different teas. The teas are all loose leaf served in a big pot. Sometimes I have found the teas to be a bit on the strong side, but it’s better for a tea to be too strong than too weak. Their food menu seems to have grown quite a bit from what I remember when I used to live near this location five years ago. Recently I got the veggie burger which was delicious! It was not a frozen garden burger, it seemed like it was made on the premises. Of course this is not the place to go if you are gluten free or on a no carb diet, in those cases you really can only enjoy the tea.

I really did not want to give this place such a low rating because I had a lovely experience at Ch. II on 64th street. I was eager to try out the other two locations and I just so happened to be in the area because my friend lives nearby. Boy was that a mistake. The food was lovely as always, we shared the Mad Hatter platter. However, I was not pleased by the décor, skeletal service, low lighting and the absence of heat(saving on the utility bills perhaps?). I remember coming across a review that said it’s in a bad neighborhood, and I thought that comment was a bit ridiculous since it’s in the UES/Yorkville. It turns out that it was quite accurate. This particular block doesn’t have that much going on except for this restaurant. I thought that we may have turned down the wrong street or something. Back to the décor and service. This location has more of a café feel due to the lack of seating/space. There were only two servers milling about serving everyone in the restaurant. We had to wait a good 10 – 15 minutes for one of them to stop to clean off the empty tables. My guess is that we came at the tail end of it being busy, then it had finally settled down? Once seated, my friend and I were not pleased to find that the water glasses did not appear to be completely clean. We didn’t want to make a scene and there wasn’t a quiet way to tell the server without people nearby hearing us since we were all practically sitting on top of each other. So we simply did not drink out of them and set them to the side. So what I’ll say here is to skip this particular location and go to the one on 64th street. It’s the largest location and seems to be staffed accordingly. Décor and neighborhood is a lot better– it’s just a few blocks north of Bloomingdales. I’m now afraid to try the location on the west side for fear of being disappointed again.

Always been a huge fan of Alice’s places! It was such a treat to visit this location with my husband and mother in law. We shared Alice’s tea, the popular flavor and the notes of roses in there were delightful! We also shared the dark chocolate scones and the(to-die-for) banana cake Nutella. I was surprised when the bill came out and that thin slice of richly amazing cake was $ 7, a little pricy, not sure it’s worth that much but it was delicious. Think of banana bread but richer with a thin layer of Nutella. Can’t go wrong. The homemade raspberry preserve and cream were as good as I remembered. Definitely an afternoon treat, not just delicious tea and sweets, but also a kind atmosphere to cherish memory making moments.

We went to Alice’s Tea Cup(chapter III) for afternoon tea. The neighborhood and the outside of this place was really ghetto, but once you get inside its so cute and homey. There was a great variety of tea selection including their special mixes. We tried Alice’s Fairy Potion, which I really liked! We got the tea for two, which included two tea pots and a variety of sandwiches, cookies, and scones. It was A LOT of food for two people. I liked our sandwich choices(the one with chicken/apple & the tea egg salad). They weren’t cut into finger sandwiches(larger pieces). The savory scone with bacon was sort of ok. I liked the chocolate scone best. We ended up packing half of our cookies and scones to go. Unilocal 100 Challenge — 46 of 100

The theme of this café is based off of one of my all time favorites movies: Alice in Wonderland. What a cute spot! A friend and I were in the mood for morning tea, so we decided try Alice’s for brunch. We were lucky enough to snag a window seat in the elevated portion of the space. The décor was fitting, tasteful and adorable. As for the tea, we had Alice’s signature black tea with rose petals and vanilla. The three-cup pot is perfect for two accompanied by honey and cream. The couple next to us ordered a three-tiered stand containing all of Alice’s favorite breakfast foods. A very sweet idea but for $ 27.00 I’ll pass. The food on the other hand is what lost me a bit. I ordered the savory crepes with spinach and gruyère. I wish I had taken a picture to do it justice, but essentially I was paying $ 14.00 for two crepes that I could finish in four bites. I also had to douse them with salt and pepper. My friend’s dish, the scones benedict, was much more appetizing but still unreasonably pricey. The ham and cheese scone was very fluffy, and the potato-hash was crispy and delicious. Overall our experience was pleasant, but I expected more attentive service and heartier crepes considering the price I paid.

Cozy place for a weekend brunch, went on a Sunday around 11 and did not have to wait for a table but had to wait two minutes to be seated. The décor makes you feel comfortable but not exactly in wonderland. I also noticed my utensils weren’t as clean as they could’ve been but nothing too serious. As for the food, I ordered smoked salmon eggs Benedict on a buttermilk scone with hollandaise sauce. It was delicious but the pears on the side threw me off. My friend had the French toast served with strawberries and blueberries and enjoyed it. Good food(egg dishes, scones, tea) and decent prices(about 20 – 25 per person) make Alice’s tea cup a great place to brunch

I’ve been here a bunch of times! Food and tea are always delicious. Best value is to get a pot of tea and a scone. The scone is very big and filling. The breakfasts and the specials are good too, but pricey. It’s also the most fun to come with a group so everybody can taste each other’s teas. Also, you can buy any of their teas loose in 2 oz. increments(= about 20 cups, according to one of the staff). It’s a great gift and they have amazing, unique teas. Really good pick-me-up on a rainy day. Alice’s is a great little local business that I’m very happy to support. Protips: I asked two of the staff which was their favorite teas here(one said she’s tried most of them) and she loves genmaicha green tea(with roasted rice kernels which give it a nutty taste.) The other loves the Pearl Jasmine tea. I also love their chocolate chip peppermint tea and their almond tea. If you can’t finish your teapot there, you can ask for a to-go cup.

A girlfriend and I decided that Alice’s Tea Cup would be the best remedy for the rainy day blues. And boy, were we right! My friend said that normally the wait wasn’t that long, but we decided to brave the 40 minute wait because 1) it was my first time and 2) we did come in around noon at prime afternoon tea time. The space itself is very small; a lovely color Tiffany blue walls decorated with pink butterflies and glitter. It is very cozy inside, and it’s the perfect place to sit and to have a nice teaparty. Also, you will be surprised to find that the crowd at Alice’s is actually not targeted for little girls! It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends of all ages and genders and sexes. We both wanted the full teaparty experience and wanted the 3 tier stand with scones, sandwiches, and dessert. I had the Alice’s Tea(the house tea) which was incredible! So flavorful and fragrant. The mixture of the green tea with the rose flavor was so amazing. You MUST get the buttermilk scone. It is PERFECT with the clotted cream and strawberry jam. The scones come fresh and hot — you won’t believe how fluffy and soft these scones are. This was the first time I had clotted cream — to DIE for. The other scones that we tried were yummy as well. I enjoyed the pumpkin flavored one a lot. The finger sandwiches were great, but I would say that the scones stole the show. For all of this, my friend and I were STUFFED. We couldn’t even eat the dessert, which I ended up taking home. The mocha cake is divine! So decadent and perfect with coffee. All in all, we paid $ 45 total which we split into half. It is NOT expensive for the service you are getting. Each individual component would end up costing more. I really, really loved the teaparty. The only con is that it’s really a hit-or-miss with wait times. However, I am still thinking about that scone 24 hours later. I can’t wait for my next teaparty!
