Very sad this place is closed. It was well-loved in the neighborhood. Reliable and easy with great food, staff and service. I went a couple of times a week and was never disappointed.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I had the meatballs for an appetizer and the penne a la vodka for an entrée, and I am in love. Their food is great and its nice to have byob, you save on drinks and they provide ice buckets. The date pudding is also to die for. Sometimes, its the only thing I order on late nights. They really are a great spot to have dinner and relax. Great prices, great food. Sometimes its rough because they are low on staff but their staff are friendly and knowledgable. My favorite spot in the area!

I had been here twice before and the food was not bad. The Adobo Spicy Chicken Wrap was pretty good but the Nicoise Salad was not(and it was kinda dangerous considering the olives still had the pits in and were pre-mixed into the salad). I decided to try a different salad today so I just went with their chicken ceasar, thinking that would be a safe alternative. Unfortunately, when the food arrived(delivery) I found a giant bug mixed into the salad! I’m not an expert but this giant mosquito looking thing looks like a Crane Fly( ). Regardless, it was very disgusting and I was not going to eat the salad after finding this. I called the restaurant and told them what I found and they said sometimes their vegetable vendors gave them food with bugs in it. Really? That’s you’re response? How do you even make a salad and not notice a giant bug in it? Do they not even wash their vegetables? The icing on the cake was that they told me they could not refund me my money because I paid through grubHub and I would have to take it up with them(how does that make sense?). Don’t think I’ll be coming back here. UPDATE: grubHub did refund me after I sent them an email about the issue.

The table bread great and fresh. The Chefs Pizza was good. The mac and cheese was unfortunately tasteless so we asked for the wings insted which were a plus. The meatballs were great though! Mmmm the BYOB concept is such an awesome plus. This hip lil spot surprised us and we had a nice quaint dinner with our infant.

Great food for a great price and friendly service! Please support this local business! BYOB is a nice money saver, but I do hope they get their liquor license back as I miss the great selection of craft beers!

Came here for brunch and the food was delish. The lobster and eggs was fresh. The steak and egg was tasty. This is a small place so I don’t recommend big groups, but I would definitely go back. If they had live music during brunch, it would be perfect.

Came for the first time last night! Started with a fried artichoke heart appetizer that was on special. Our server, Adam(at least that’s the name on my receipt!) was so accommodating in helping my friend ensure he maintained his vegan diet. I had the veggie grilled cheese and a side salad which was DELICIOUS. And they leave a chipotle mayo on the table, how bad could that be? The sandwich had tons of fresh grilled veggies. The side salad was also quite delicious and dressed nicely, not an afterthought. My boyfriend had the steak sandwich with yucca fries(surprisingly good!) and he enjoyed it. The service pushed everything over the edge. Adam(I hope that’s really your name!) was so nice, helpful and made our meal a really pleasant experience. They are currently BYOB and we brought a 6-pack of beer that he made sure to open for us. Also, they do take credit cards!

Decent priced beers. The flatbread pizza was absolutely delicious! Very nice, intimate atmosphere and the servers are very friendly. I love the art in the bathrooms too. Very humorous!

I live across the street from this place & never realized it existed. I work at The Cecil in Harlem & my friends from there and I are always looking for a new spot to patronize & so I decided to bite the bullet & order food from GrubHub. I ordered a wild mushroom pizette which I thought would be a full personal size pizza. Instead it was about 4 slices of thin pita bread with a few mushrooms & cheese sprinkled on it. Sad since the food was flavorful overall. Def not worth $ 10 when there are so many places in Harlem with cheaper prices & bigger portions(Corner Social, Savann, even tacky Harlem Public has cheaper prices although I suggest you stay away from that hell hole). Definitely will not be stepping foot into the restaurant & as someone in the hospitality business, will not recommend this place to others. Very disappointing.

AS is a cute little spot in the middle of what is being dubbed«Hamilton Heights.» There is a great beer selection(and a bar tucked in the very back, passed the chalk board wall beer menu), live music on some nights, and consistently great service. But, of course, I came here for the food. which, overall is pretty good(the Adobo chicken wrap is great). Other dishes are pretty good but come with some. interesting elements. The steak is really a standalone dish… but comes smothered in a creamy(?) tangy chimichurri. The fried calamari comes laced with fried chickpeas. This was interesting… but totally unexpected.

We loved that they had a table at 7:30 on a Saturday night. The vibe is relaxed, you can tell people come in and hang out for awhile. There are about 3 steps inside, and the servers were happy to help carry my wheelchair up the steps. The deep fried goat cheese balls and the brussels sprouts with bacon came out first, and they were a nice compliment to each other. The dumplings with sage were good, but a bit salty. And the beet and green bean salad with goat cheese was also good. I would have liked an even greener and lighter salad option to balance out the heavier other plates; maybe next time. I leant towards 4 stars, but I think that’s just because it’s pretty hard to fine good food in this area, so I was impressed by the meal.

After a drab experience at The Chipped Cup up the street, Amsterdam Social was a welcoming atmosphere. Be sure to get the salad nicoise. Free wifi that’s easy to navigate. Friendly service. They only take cash

Stopped by this place for brunch because we were in the area for an open house. I was a little disappointed that they only serve brunch until 4pm on Sundays… I wanted the regular lunch menu, but anyways, the food was actually really good! I had the steak and eggs and the steak was delicious with the green spicy sauce. Eggs were good. Overall, if I do end up living in this area, this would be a regular hangout for me for sure!

Brunch was fine. The huevos hermanos were delicious. My mom ordered the shrimp and grits and sent it back bcus the shrimp were way too salty. The server was gracious enough about it, but his response of «most people like it like that» was not necessary. It shouldn’t matter that most people like them overly salted, the current customer paying the bill is what matters. It’s a small space so more than 10 people and it’s packed! I will go back again for the food and vibe. Nice addition to the neighborhood for sure!

Came to watch the world cup finals and it was a pretty good experience. The atmosphere was intimate and it wasn’t that crowded as most places showing the games. My sister and I arrived when the kitchen was closed(they were preparing for dinner) so we were able to order drinks while watching the game & waited until 5pm to order dinner. We had the chorizo quesadilla to start, which is a must order! It was delicious & very favorable. For my main dish I had the salmon with spinach & coconut, scallion basmati rice. The rice was really tasty & the salmon was moist. I felt the spinach was a liitle bitter. The service was excellent! I will be returning to try their brunch(the menu looks great!)

I am so glad there are more places to go to now in the West Harlem/Hamilton Heights area. This new spot is very nice, the décor /ambience is great(minus some random typical artwork that needs updating) the service is wonderful and cheerful. I visited Amsterdam Social on Valentines day when it was pretty packed and never felt like the waiter forgot about us. The band playing was great, the singer sang songs from Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack and others it was great. I tried the guacamole, the salmon and chocolate mouse and everything was excellent! The plantains that came with the guacamole were cooked to perfection. The wine and beer selection were great as well. I definitely will be back soon as I’d like to try their brunch. Bravo Amsterdam Social! :)

My husband and I stopped in here. Though it wasn’t our first choice, we are glad we made it to this two-month old spot. The photos on Unilocal don’t really do it justice.(Sorry, Unilocalers, I couldn’t take a photo.) But for dinner, this joint has seat for over 20 people, and the back, more toward the bar, has about 10 more spots. Our waiter, Matthew, was a Midwestern sweetie. Definitely not a New Yorker but was very attentive and sweet. He gave me a great Chardonnay recommendation. The quesadilla was good, but it was really just four two-chip sandwiches. The fillings were good, and the amount of guac that comes with it was probably work $ 5 at some places. But it still seemed a little bit of a rip at $ 9. The wings, similarly, were good and unique, but for $ 9, the quantity was a little small. The chef’s choice pizzette($ 12) was good and a better bang for the buck. The bread was a little soggy, but the flavors were good. I really, really wish, though, that they had a drink menu written down(not just on the wall). It’s really tough for us visual people to retain all the wine and beer options. Check out this new spot!
