I have been here about 6 times(barber shop) and have had decent cuts. I like to have the same person cut my hair and for the most part had the same guy cut my hair. I walked in for a simple shape up between cuts with my guy. Antonella walks in and seats me in another chair and has some other guy come out of nowhere to start the shape up. I figured, its only a shape up and you can’t screw that up. The entire time, I hear Antonella arguing with my guy in the next room, telling him that«customers don’t get to pick who cuts their hair» and that they are all her customers etc. This continued on for about 15 minutes. I went to pay, only to be told the shape up cost $ 30! I have had 2 prior for $ 15. I questioned her on the price and she said yes its $ 30, we don’t do shape ups here and that is the best she can do. Wont be going back!

I go to Antonella’s regularly. She is the best. She spends time with her customers and makes sure their hair looks great when they leave the shop.

I’ve been going to Antonella’s since 2005. I can honestly say, and I’m not exaggerating here, that I’ve never received a haircut that I didn’t love. Sure, there have been several different barbers here that have cut my hair over the years, but the consistency speaks to the quality of stylist that Antonella demands of her staff. This was an easy 5-star review.

If you have never treated yourself to a Hot Towel Shave then you may be in a blissful state of ignorance like I was. Those of you have been lucky enough to have experienced this at the gifted hands of Antonella know she must be the best! The owner/operator, Antonella is a lovely woman. I started with a hair wash and rinse by Lita, another great lady. While lying back in the chair I noticed the nicely painted white, blue and gold ceiling. I was very pleased with my cut and my wife and son approved! The shave was incredible. Multiple hot towels, pre-shave skin conditioning, after shave serum, more hot and cold towels, facial massaging and constant checking to make sure she wasn’t missing any stray whiskers. Antonella’s attention to detail and her professionalism are impeccable! I will go back every time I am in New York!

I have been going here for the last 7 years, and its not the cheapest place around nor is it the most expensive but I have received a consistent and good hair cut each time, well worth the price. The staff here have always been friendly and there is almost never a wait.

Went in there for a quick beard trim and barber insisted on full shave treatment. When I protested she said, «Women’s touch,» and continued. Tried to charge me $ 25! Most places are $ 5.

I wish I could leave negative stars. This is the worst combination of awful haircut, horrendous service, and absurd high price I have ever experienced. The place was dead which should have been a clue, I sit down and a woman asks me what kind of cut I want. The difficulty in trying to explain what a simple fade is should have been my second clue, but she insisted she understood. I basically noticed right away that she had no idea how to hold or work with clippers. As soon as she was done with the sides and back I told her to stop and I got up. I have to find another Barber who can fix the terrible job of the inept Barber at this place. Then I go to pay and they charge $ 30 plus tax. I was shocked and really pissed off but had no patience to argue. I just hope they go out of business soon… Tl;Dr this place is the worst, avoid at all costs!

My haircut is easy. Just a #3 clipper on the sides, top as short as you can get with scissors. Really hard to screw up. So I don’t mind going to new barbers, and when my regular was closed unexpectedly this seemed like a geographically conveinent substitute. I was wrong. First he goes into a tirade about how«3» isn’t the same everywhere and some other customers complain and do I really mean 3. A #3 clipper is 3⁄8 of an inch. It’s an industry standard. It’s the same everywhere. So right off the bat he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and I’m worried. Then the guy seems to think the sides end somewhere mid ear, height wise. He basically only uses the clippers on my sideburns and then acts confused when I try to explain what any other barber would have done with the same instructions. The whole time he’s jabbing my head with the clippers and comb, like he’s trying to knock the hair off by brute force. Manages to miss almost all the hair with the scissors, frantically snipping the tiniest bits of hair while making weird grunts. Takes almost nothing off despite the words«as short as you can get.» At the end he goes in close with the scissors ungaurded for what was probably an attempt to thin, but ends up catching wide clumps. Patchy, uneven, and looks less well kept than before the cut. Told him to stop when I realized he was doign more harm then good. Worst haircut I’ve ever had in New York, and twice as expensive as I usually pay for a simple men’s cut. $ 38. I’m probably going to just get it buzzed in a couple days if I can’t find a decent way to comb it. Never again.

The barber Lawrence is one of the best barbers I’ve ever seen, he’s the best at his job. He takes good care of his clients. I think that’s the most important thing in this cosmetic industry. It’s close to my university and it’s the best barber shop in the financial district according to me. Keep it up Lawrence!

After posting my review(which seems to have since been taken down) here is the response I got by email from the man who CUT my sons hair Hi Jenn, Koltyn W. sent you a message on Unilocal: Subject: Perhaps next time, your FIRST question should be … «How much for a little boy’s haircut.» «You have waaaaaay too much time on your hands. I can apologize you weren’t happy with your son’s haircut, however HE was ‘He’s giving you the thumbs up. Which means HE likes it.» I can and DID apologize for nipping your son’s ear. Was not entirely my fault. He was doing a lot of squirming while trying to watch his video which I interrupted with my own. FYI, sharing these things with a younger client seems to put them at ease during a haircut. I can apologize you were not aware his haircut would be $ 30PLUS tax. I can apologize the salon OWNER Antonella may have appeared a little rude in discussing the price. However, you’re over-lengthy, over dramatized and over exaggerated, truth bending review is now on OUR Social Media, I will have no problem sharing it on my OWN with my class of acquaintances. You have shown every sense of what we in our profession deal with on a daily basis from over protective, over sensitive parents of children that are never at fault and can never do anything wrong. We do everything in our power to put our young clients at ease, make them feel comfortable and a little less scared. We entertain, act silly and yes, bring the parents into the joke to get a laugh. You 1st clue should have been … We are a hair salon that caters to everyone. However, we ARE in the heart of the Financial District, near Wall Street surrounded by some of the wealthiest people in NYCAND our price list IS outside the door when you walk in.“ I will not further comment but there are many assumptions made on this man’s part and this is EXACTLY what you get when you come into a place like this. This man does not understand that he is completely wrong about me or my son but MADE way too many assumptions and we were treated poorly.

Antonella’s is the best salon in NYC. Antonella is awesome and always takes the time to really focus on cutting my hair. Aside from that, she is very friendly and welcoming. I have lived here for years now and would never consider going anywhere else. Outside of that, the staff is always friendly and the salon is clean. I highly recommend Antonella’s to anyone!

My entire family has has gone to Antonella’s. Carlos, Koltyn and Antonella herself treat us like royalty(Antonella whips up a wickedly satisfying espresso and even went out to a coffee shop to grab my girls a hot chocolate). I love the cuts that Koltyn gives me and they grow in perfectly. Koltyn and Carlos dote on my girls, leaving them feeling like a couple of princesses. Cozy, down to earth salon.

Pros: Great customer service. Friendly staff, clean salon, and not crowded. I waited 10 minutes. Lawrence was really sweet. Cons: haircut was not good. I asked for a typical clipper cut. Short and high on the sides and top left long. Instead I got blended sides with a strange Elvis Pouf in the front. The haircut was also way too long — almost 1 hr. I came in for an easy mens haircut that costs me $ 12 in the east village and left with a strange haircut for $ 35. They may be good with women’s hair — but my recommendation that men stay away from this place. P. S. My boyfriends hair came out even worse. So much so he is going to wear a hat until it grows out — I was speechless.

First of all, let me say that the stylists here are all professional and do a great job. They are friendly and really listen to your needs. I have a HUGE problem with the owner or lady manager. Her pricing of services is out of line. I live in the neighborhood and like to support local businesses. I have gone to Antonellas 2x now. I brought my daughter for a bang trim. She’s 5 yrs old. It took all of 3 min. The owner had her stylist charge me $ 12! Seriously. I flat out told her that’s insane. She said it was the«taxes». I will give my biz to Le Coiffeur across the street. They are always so busy and I could see why. I walked in and asked how much a bang trim for my daughter will cost. They said«free»

As client. I absolutely love this place. I think this salon has style and finesse! The stylist took her time to insure that my service was well done. I don’t go to «Asian» salons for an 18 dollar blowdry because I value my hair and I need someome to do the same. I use professional products and have been doing so for a number of years. I MOST certainly don’t have friends who have never been to the location give«HAIR» or «Pricing» advice. you dont go to Prada with your fake bag and tell them how to run things. . Lets have some class! I great review is a well deserved review… Please allow enough time when entering a buisness They are not«Supercuts» and«Great clips» They are not located in a run down area. Please have some respect for your fellow business man and woman. And to the staff at Antonella’s Salon… KEEPROCKINIT!!!

I love the environment right when I came in. I’m young and most salons around the city make you feel out of place. I met Antonella and she is so sweet. But again sweetness has nothing to do with if they can give me a good cut. I told them I wanted something like Harvey spektor from suits and they knew right away what I wanted. I was a bit nervous at first but they got the job done. I loved it! First time here and def not the last!

These guys can’t be serious. I won’t give the name of the artist who took care of me but even after guiding step by step and try to get something decent, I am pretty disappointed with the result. He was a good guy, just not fast enough and no creativity whatsoever.
