Closed, but not forgotten. Whenever I went to Manhattan for work, I stayed in Murray Hill because it wasn’t full of tourists. At least, ‘Murica tourists. Food was okay, drinks were good, and once you were a regular, you stayed one, even if you didn’t come in constantly. I still miss it.

Very good food. Fish and chips excellent. Fried chicken great. Ravioli and Cajun PoBo very tastey.

Decent bar adjacent to Affinia Dumont. Bartender made stiff drinks, which I don’t mind if I’m not ordering a nice cocktail. She had to look up how to make a Manhattan, which was unfortunate. Reasonable stop for a quick stiff rum and coke or whiskey and soda. Didn’t eat here, but the brunch menu looked alright.

Brunch is more than a meal, it’s an institution, and one to be treated with respect. If you’re having brunch it probably means you have the day off, you slept in a little, but you managed to get out of the house and you need the day to start off right to build a little momentum so you don’t just crawl back into bed. Sadly, not every establishment that serves brunch lives up to this ideal. The Barking Dog has pretty minimal ambiance, just a few posters involving dogs or movies about dogs, but nothing that really carves out an identity. The food seems like a wide selection, but the execution is pretty lackluster. My corned beef hash and eggs were solid, but my hash brown was a little overcooked and the weird dense and bready dinner roll that came instead of toast was a bit unappetizing and not really suited for mopping up my eggs. Still, the service was good and relatively quick with coffee and water refills, and the price wasn’t outrageous for midtown Manhattan. If you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a sit-down brunch, you could probably do a lot worse, but there’s no reason to seek this place out.

It’s a very hit or miss place. Sometimes it’s good sometimes it sucks. In terms of brunch they need to start actually advertising what they sell. For example. Their potato dill pancakes states that it comes with salmon caviar and crème fresh. However what it actually comes with is strips of smoked salmon and sour cream. Either the person who wrote the menu is an idiot or they got cheap and started using cheaper ingredients to save money.

A great place for a casual hangout. Loved the creation of different food here. I ordered a spinach pancake, topped with poached eggs, and cavier. Cannot be better. The atmosphere is so cozy. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Trying to enjoy one of the warmer days this fall and out with my cousin’s dog, we sat outside at this spot in Murray Hill. We waited a while before I had to go in and look for a server to bring us some menus outside. The menu did have a nice variety of choices and the prices were on the lower scale for Manhattan. I couldn’t decide what I wanted and I asked the server for her recommendation between two items and the response I got was«they are both popular.» Ok, well which do you like better, I don’t know, give me something. Recommend me an option, ask me what I like… I could go on forever but she wasn’t helpful. I ended up choosing a gyro and I was so annoyed I forgot to ask for no tomatoes. I had to suck it up when my order arrived. Once we started eating we didn’t see our server for more than 20 minutes. We wanted more sodas and she was nowhere to be found. Can’t say I would come back here in the future.

Like its uptown sibling, BD is all about not-very-ambitious comfort food. It’s more imaginative than a diner, but unable to excel at anything. Still, what they do, they do well enough. Everyone seems to come here for breakfast, although I don’t really understand why, when the fried chicken is outstanding, as is the classic mac and cheese. If you get a salad, ask for the buttermilk-dill dressing. Portions are large. This particular outpost is big and airy, with windows that look out onto a patio with more seating in nice weather. The service is pretty blasé, except for the runners, who seem to really care that things are done properly.

My brother, his girlfriend and I had brunch there this morning. I ordered the alongside french today, with a side of sausage. The French Toast was very tasty and the sausage was cooked to perfection. This proved to be the best choice by far. My brother ordered the Po’ Boy. Though he ate most of the fries and the shrimp in the sandwich, he was dismayed by the fact that he was given almost an entire tomato in the sandwich as well. Although I’m a fan of tomatoes, this seems excessive to me. His girlfriend got scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs didn’t have much flavor as she couldn’t add enough salt, and the bacon was half-cooked, unless of course you like the very chewy variety of bacon. Overall, it wasn’t a bad meal, but not one well be rising to return to either.

Wow, these reviews are all over the map! I’ve only had pleasant experiences at both this location and the upper east side location so I’m pretty surprised. This particular location is nestled next to the Affinia hotel which is perfect if you’re staying there. That’s actually the reason I first went to Barking Dog since I had family staying in the hotel. The food is pretty good(great sandwiches and wraps), affordable and the place is cute. I don’t know, if you’re in the area and need a quick fix, definitely don’t count this place out!

I’ve been to Barking Dog a couple times. The food isn’t bad, and the service is normally pretty good. But… I went into this location, and my order came out wrong. After I alerted the waitress that it was wrong, she told me that the chef made it that way, and I wouldn’t be about to get another dish. I was really starting to like the Barking Dog, but they won’t be getting my service anymore at this location.

Very reasonably priced brunch place with pretty big portions. I loved the banana pecan pancakes and they are very tasty. It came with 3 pancakes and a side of fruits and definitely made me super full. The mozellera omellete was so unique and delicious. They give free coffee refills and I ended up drinking 4 cups of coffee because we stayed here for quite a bit, definitely better than your average american brunch place.

Visit Date December 7, 2013 Came here with my friend for brunch after stopping by at her place. Definitely seems like a great brunch place, but they get 3 stars only for messing up my order. They put swiss cheese in my omelet and I hate swiss, so I couldn’t really eat the omelet. I didn’t want another one because I had already eaten some bread and hash browns and there was no more room in my tummy. The waitress was nice and took off our drinks to compensate for the order mix up. The biscuit that came with the omelet was divine, I think if I come here again and just order some biscuits I’ll be fine!

This place was located very close to the hotel we were staying at during a recent trip to New York, so I had the chance to try it out for both dinner and breakfast. Overall A-OK sums it up perfectly. The food is not bad, but not great. It is pretty much right in the middle, but I would eat there again if I was nearby. We went here for dinner first. I wasn’t extremely hungry so I ordered the chicken quesadilla for my meal. The quesadilla was huge! I ate a little more than half of it. It was loaded with cheese and chicken! Not extremely flavorful, but the guacamole that came with it made the flavor much better! We also ate breakfast here and for that meal I ordered the spinach omelette with cheddar cheese. I really liked the omelet as well as the hash browns on the side(needed a little extra salt, but not a big deal!) I will say I was not a huge fan of the«biscuit,» it was more like a roll with a doughy texture on the inside. Prices are reasonable and the menu is extensive. There are a variety of small plates(bar food), sandwiches, burgers and entrees. There should be something here for anyone! Service was okay, but not particularly attentive on either visit considering the number of people in the restaurant at the times we were there(not many). I would probably recommend breakfast here if I picked one meal to eat at Barking Dog.

The reviews of this restaurant are so mixed that I wonder if the reviewers who had a bad experience went to a different restaurant than the one I went to! I went to dinner there last night with a friend and my puppy. We were more than pleasantly surprised — we loved the food and the service. The staff(and I mean every person we encountered) treated us and our puppy with kindness and friendliness. We sat outside in a little courtyard set far enough away from the street that we weren’t bothered by the street noise. We both had the blackened catfish special with two sides(I had the mashed potatoes and gravy and my friend had the polenta, and we both had the vegee kabob). The food was outstanding. Generous portions of fish perfectly cooked and seasoned, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, and the vegetables on the kabob were delicately seasoned and absolutely delicious. They also have a good beer and wine menu. If you bring your pet, be sure to ask what food they can provide for your little one — they grilled some plain chicken for my puppy and cut it up into puppy-sized bites, and he went mad for it, and it only cost me about $ 2.95. I very much look forward to going again soon.

I ate here for breakfast on a Sunday morning a couple of weeks ago because it is right next door to the hotel we were staying at. It seems like a cute little place with friendly servers. It was nice to be able to sit outside but still be sheltered from the street. They even had some big shade umbrellas so that is a big plus. I ordered the Almondine French Toast. I was expecting it to have more almonds on it but other than that it was pretty good. The hubby got the steak and eggs which he enjoyed as well. We had met up with some friends and they said that the food there was usually better(they are locals) and they didn’t seem too happy with what they ordered(which I have forgotten). Still, the staff was pretty good about keeping our coffee cups filled and I really enjoyed their mimosas which happened to be buy one, get one free on that day(not sure if it is every Sunday?). So, even though it was a somewhat mediocre experience the sunshine, service, and BOGO mimosas made it A-OK in my book.

Barking Dog is a little bit in between a diner and your typical see-and-be-seen brunch spot. The food is good for what it is, but this location is definitely not as nice as the upper east side. The tables are just way, way too close together. I mean packed in, The waitress couldn’t even get to us to drop our food off properly! We were sat fairly promptly for brunch. and everything was tasty.

A friend of mine had her baby shower here the weekend the NY marathon was cancelled. Just a week after Sandy, with NYC back up and running but definitely not at 100%, Barkind Dog opened their doors to us for a brunch shower anyway(Kudos to them for that!). The glass doors had some damage, but the interior looked otherwise unaffected. As for service, the wait staff were nice, and very attentive — granted it was not a busy morning, but I appreciated the smiling faces and prompt hot coffee when I came in from the cold. The shower brunch menu was a set menu with a few choices, but the kitchen was very accommodating to changes and substitutions(bonus points there). My only food complaint was that a friend ordered a regular boiled egg, but after two separate attempts, the kitchen just kept sending out raw ones(weird). All in all, a solid brunch spot for big groups(and takes reservations!). The food was not memorable(not bad, not great, but no major complaints either), but the front of house service makes up for that.

Brunch review only. There are other places I prefer in the area but this was open a little earlier on a Sunday so I went here. The food was fine, service was good but I feel that I’ve had better, two blocks away, for the same prices. It is good for groups so if I was in a large group I would come again. I had the eggs florentine but the hollandaise was a little bland. I mean, in a pinch, sure, but if you have options, go elsewhere.

Out of the way for me but if I worked nearby I would be back soon. I stopped by for breakfast today, eggs over(fine), sausage(nice), something that looked like a potato rosti(meh), biscuit(poor), fresh fruit on the side(excellent). Decent coffee. Next time I will request toast. Service was good enough. I sat at the small front bar — but just too early to order a bloody mary or a campari and soda. Maybe I should have. Would have started my day on an up note. TV in front was set to a morning program, the blonde and the football guy. Décor is nice enough. I did not check for wi-fi.

Gutes Pub mit ordentlicher Speisekarte(v.a.

Wassernäpfe in drei höhen.
