This bar is close to my boyfriends place so we’ve been here a bunch. After about the 2^nd visit the owner and the bartenders learned our names, and drinks. I’ve had some great convos with them and they are a big reason I keep coming back. The staff is so nice and quick! Also the cheap drinks! $ 6for a Beer and shot! Done. They also play random movies on the back tv, last time we sat and watched Addams Family Values (the better one) while System of a Down blasted. It was good night.
Extra points for a dive bar with a clean bathroom!

Randomly walked in here with friends and couldn’t have been happier — it’s a solid dive with actual dive personality, and more importantly actual dive prices ($ 3 tallboys and not just PBR). The bouncer was really friendly and told us we could bring wings from Dan and John’s across the street (definitely the call). Very good vibe up at the bar — nice bartender too. Will definitely go back.

A GREAT place to meet others not wanted in the neighborhood if you like that vibe. Yes, the 86ers! Expensive drinks and juke box from what I was told almost broken Too classy for that joint. GO DOCS!

I was here last night and a bartender paid a man who was bothering me a shot to leave me alone. I was the only woman customer and he was trying to pick me up, despite my unreceptive body language. anyway, it’s the coolest thing a bartender has ever done. I’m giving this place 5 stars because I’m giving her 5 stars.
otherwise, this place was kind of bladerunnery and pretty empty at 9 on a Friday. cheapest draft was $ 6. kill bill was playing in the background.

Don’t go here. Drinks are overpriced and music is way too loud. This place was so much better when it was Spanky & Darla’s.

So, Spanky and Darla’s is gone in theory, but there’s still a bar in this location — Big Lee’s.
The vibe is a little bit different than Spanky’s. It’s much darker inside — I think they painted the walls dark black and put up an American flag in the window to block the light. Looks like they were going for a grungier — throwback East Village bar vibe.
The music was WAY too loud to have any sort of conversation, and the drinks weren’t nearly as cheap as I remember them. Paid $ 17 for a Brooklyn Lager and a Bulleit Bourbon on the rocks. $ 17? It was a Thursday during happy hour time. $ 17? Ugh, no. This would cost half that, if not cheaper, at some bars in the area.
Don’t have much else to say. It’s just kind of a dark bar with expensive drinks. I wish them the best, but I’m not sure how they’ll compete, hmm…

Stay Away! Smelly, dark, boring bar sums this place up. New owners are rude and obnoxious. Bartenders try to force shots on you and make you pay for them when you don’t even want them. The jukebox was broken and strange bizarre music was being piped in through some streaming radio source. The few patrons who were actually there on a Friday night were old and creepy.

How /Why is Big Lee’s not on Unilocal yet?
We passed by it one afternoon, and decided to go in for a beer, and it turned out great!
The bartender was wearing a corset (she mentioned that was their «thing», all the bartenders wear corsets, and she was super nice and chatty.
A lady was sitting at the end of the bar, i think maybe she was the owner/manager? Anyways, she got up and picked a few songs from the juke box (really good picks) then came over and told us she left a few credits in the machine and we could pick the rest! That really got the party started, and after that we fed a few more dollars into the machine and payed it forward by telling another patron that we’d left a few songs for her to pick! Then everyone was picking songs and having a great time!
Nothing fancy about this place, no gimmicks, (other than the corsets, I guess) just a good old fashioned bar, the way it should be!
