I knew there were a few locations for Billy’s Bakery, one close to where I work, but this location was close to one of my workout spots which I didn’t realize until my best friend brought me over! My go-to whenever I go to Billy’s Bakery would be the banana cupcake with Nutella frosting! I came here after a workout.(i know. counter-intuitive) for one cupcake to share and the cupcake was on the dry side which was not that enjoyable. The frosting was okay but could’ve been better! My very first time having the cupcake was so memorable but the ones here did not live up to that top-notch expectation.

Billy’s Carrot Cake was phenomenal and just set my Carrot Cake benchmark. What really made it so scrumptious and unique was the texture of the cake. A real hearty(yet light) crumbly texture so un-cake like and almost akin to a multigrain bread. Packed into the cake were shreds of carrot, raisins, and a most pleasant cinnamon/nutmeg flavor. Cream cheese frosting was very soft and smooth yet still firm enough to hold it’s structure when subject to the tines of a fork. Sweetness level was in great balance as neither the cream cheese frosting nor the cake were overly sweet, a trait very much welcome(some cake frosting can be unbearably sweet). A must try! The Snicker Doodle cookie was a cookie-cutter(no puns intended) version, so there was nothing notably special. It was clearly overshadowed by it’s larger and more decadent Carrot Cake brethren. Go forth and seek a slice of the Carrot Cake(or Carrot Cake cupcake as I’m told it’s the same, albeit smaller). Billy can bake a mean a** Carrot Cake!

I really wanted to like this place, but like fellow reviewers here it seems the baked goods are hit or miss. Best to go in person to see what looks fresh in the display case. There’s opportunity to improve since there’s competition very nearby like Baked and 2 Hands. Pros: the day I went, service was welcoming, friendly and attentive. High ceilings and a Tribeca storefront adds to the ambience. Cons: I tried 2 mini round cheesecakes — passion fruit and coconut. I had high hopes as they looked good. Unfortunately, both tasted on the stale side, as if they were in the fridge for more than a few days. Also peculiar was the cheese cake texture, seemed inconsistent between both cheesecakes. Texture seemed like they came out of 2 different bakeries… i.e. one was smooth and creamy, the other was heavier on the cream cheese and thus felt pasty on the palate. Might return to try the cupcakes or cookies, but visually they didn’t entice me like other bakeries.

Cupcakes(German chocolate and vanilla) were dry and rather on the small size. Cappuccino was good(with an extra shot). Peanut butter pie was okay(not too sweet).

As a baker myself, I couldn’t have been happier with their Carrot Cake. I didn’t have time for homemade so this was a very, very good choice! It was three layers of very moist, dense carrot cake and the cream cheese frosting was just sweet enough to complement the thick cake… not too sugary or overpowering. The coconut was a great signature for texture and taste… I loved it! They had same-day cakes available for a birthday, and did not charge an arm and a leg.

Tried two more cakes but I was disappointed this time. The lemon raspberry cake sounded good, but it was sooo sweet and the icing was a little chalky. The crowd pleaser cake tasted better, but was still nowhere near on the level that the red velvet and carrot cakes are.

HORRIBLE!!! Don’t ever order a birthday cake from them! I thought I would get a «custom design» from them as they advertise on their site. After ordering and paying for my daughter’s 1st bday cake online($ 95 incl delivery for a plain 8 inch cake) I was told I needed to email the bakery and pay separately over the phone for a simple custom design(another $ 30). EXCEPT their«manager» only works from 11am-5pm on select weekdays, and I had to chase her down to make this payment. Who has time for that BS? I was not able to call her in that time period because I actually work for a living. Long story short, I never got the custom design but instead a plain vanilla cake with the words happy bday on it. Very memorable for a 1st Bday party! Thanks for ruining it. Zero stars and you will never earn another dollar of business from me or anyone I know. Fix your damn site so I can pay online for my full order or don’t advertise that you do «custom design».

Billy’s Bakery smells so great! I feel happier the moment I step into the place. Their cupcakes are so moist and wonderful. The frosting is a bit too sweet for me, but I just swipe some of it off and enjoy the cupcake. The drinks are lovely too. A wonderful little place to have a snack with a friend.

The Bourbon Salted Caramel was a hefty slice of cake, easily shared between two people. Mr. Joy brought this home for us to share. It’s alright, not bad, but not great. It’s a little too dense for me. Also, I may be biased as I don’t usually like the taste of bourbon or liquor flavored desserts, because I think it makes the flavor cloyingly sweet.

I’ve been here a couple times now and tried two different items. Yeah, they have a cool logo and a it’s a nice spot tucked in TriBeCa, but that’s about it. Here’s what I had: Peanut Butter Fudge/Brownie — 2⁄5. Super dense. Very rich. Yet… flavorless, somehow. It tasted like powdered peanut butter(my fellow fitness enthusiasts know about that PB2). It just didn’t have enough of that strong PB taste we all love, like just dunking a spoon into a fresh jar of peanut butter… Bourbon Salted Caramel Cake — 2⁄5. Decent sized slice of cake. Moist. No flavor of bourbon. Nor salt. Nor caramel. It really tasted like just a normal chocolate cake. A bit overly sweet I might add. Definitely a dessert to share with two or three. Just from these two items alone, I wouldn’t come back to try anything else.

As far as bakery’s go this place is the cutest and has some of the finest cakes and baked goods I’ve ever eaten while traveling. My partner and I wanted a snack and fortunately stumbled upon this place. The deco is cool and simple. The seating and tables are a little plain, but you’ll be focusing on the spoonfuls of yum. The vanilla cake was light and fluffy with thick sweet buttery icing. The brownie was filling and so delicious you’ll want to buy the entire tray. Coffee is available, which my partner had. I know nothing about coffee but she did enjoy it. The location felt a bit out of the way, down a quite street. However if you are in the area do track it down, you won’t regret it.

Took the kids for a Friday summertime afternoon snack and ordered up a few cupcakes and a slice of peanut butter pie for myself. The cupcake deal includes a cupcake and a tall cup of milk for $ 4.50. Cupcakes have a thick buttermilk crème on top that some kids love and others will find too heavy. My son tasted the peanut butter pie and remarked that it tasted ‘exactly like KFC [peanut butter pie]’. Not completely sure that’s a good thing. It tasted just ok to this peanut butter addict. The guy at the counter was nice enough without being effusively friendly. Taking into account value, service, taste and variety, three stars takes the(cup)cake.

Was in the area and had a sweet tooth so I decided to stop by for 1 cupcake and only 1 I told myself lol. I couldn’t believe I actually found parking right outside the front door. I noticed there was seating outside to enjoy your delicious sweets. When I went inside there was a small line but nothing major, it went by quickly. I ordered the carrot cake cupcake, paid around $ 3 and left. Back in car I took my cupcake out the bag and noticed it was in a plastic iced coffee cup and lid… wth. How can this be a cupcake place and not have a proper container for your cupcake??? I thought the frosting was a little sweet for my taste. I wiped off half of the frosting and enjoyed the cupcake much better that way. I would probably give it a 2.5 it was an ok cupcake but alot of people raved about it.

We visited this store on 6÷11÷15 after dinner in the neighborhood so my friend could purchase a slice of cake. Though it was well before closing time, there were no employees in the front — they were evidently in the back. While we waited for someone to appear, I picked up a vintage flour sifter that was sitting on a shelf in the customer area. The item had a price tag on it, so I presumed it was for sale. As I was telling my friend that I remembered my mom having one just like it, a female employee emerged from the back room. Instead of greeting us or apologizing for making us wait, her first words were«Put that down» in an extremely forceful manner that was completely out-of-proportion to the situation. This was, after all, a tin sifter from the 1960’s or 70s with a $ 30 price tag on it sitting out in the open. I didn’t raid the store safe to get my hands on it. My friend and i were a little shocked at her tone so I set it down and we backed out of the store before she could unload more of her angst. Maybe she’s a misanthropic baker who should be shackled to a kitchenaid away from the customers?! This is just the latest in a series of uneven experiences at this and their other locations. There are better bakeries in town with nicer counter staff than Billy’s.

I ordered a dozen carrot cake cupcakes to be delivered to my husband on his birthday. The cupcakes are sooo good. Billy’s definitely has a top notch carrot cake recipe, with the perfect frosting. It was so convenient and easy to order too. I just called the day before to place the order and give them my credit card, and then the next day they delivered them to(and surprised) the birthday boy. He loved them and was very happy! I looked at a lot of delivery places that didn’t have carrot cake(my husband’s favorite) and was so happy to see carrot on the list of options for Billy’s. If you need delicious baked goods delivered, look no farther!

We stopped in for a snack while wandering around SoHo and TriBeca and it was enjoyable. Décor: The shop is on a quiet street and is very nice and it fits right in. Then you go inside and are transported to a very small-town bakery atmosphere. It’s a very nice break from the NYC streets outside. There are a few tables and everything is very clean and inviting. Bathroom: I don’t think they have one for customers. Staff: The front counter girl was very nice and patient while we decided what we wanted. However, she was like most cupcake shop employees in that they always seem like they are rushing a bit, as if they are needed back in the bakery or something. Food: The cupcake was pretty good, as were the Snickerdoodle cookies(they were dense, but tasted to be a day or so old). Value: The prices are about what you would expect from a small bakery like this. While it was nice to stop in and give it a try I don’t think we’ll be back again in the future.

I went here just before 5pm and one of the women there(I think the manager) was a TOTAL b*tch. I don’t say that often, and I usually like most people and I understand the stress of the service industry… but seriously. Let me say this — it was blizzarding outside. 5 degrees. We came in and ordered 2 coffees and 2 sweets(a banana nutella cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie). Even before we checked out, she immediately told us we had to go because they were now closed(into the storm to eat and drink what we just bought!!!) and she was in a HUGE hurry. SORUDE. Yes, it was 4:55PM and I guess they close(STRICTLY) at 5pm, but we had an über coming in 3 minutes, and I don’t think it’s unfair to let someone stay in your café for 3 extra minutes. She basically rolled her eyes when we politely asked. Also the banana nutella cupcake was sub-par. The buttercream frosting tasted nothing like nutella.

The smell is just AWESOMEEEE! You just walk in and POW you smell like the baking ingredients like cake batter its just so delicious! I just wanted to lick the air, would that make me look weird? hahaha Fresh homemade baking done on premise. Small little bakery shop in Tribeca and they serve cupcakes, cookies and cake. They also have coffee, tea, cappuccinos, etc. Its pricey! A dozen mixed cupcakes cost me about $ 40. Nice workers. Small area you can sit and enjoy your dessert.
