Was a quintessential spot in the village. Sad and surprised to see you go. RIP Condy. Sad and surprised to see you go.

Phenomenal. Our waitress was a sweet heart. Steak and Salmon dishes are my fave. No complaints.

Review from 2010 was somehow saved but not submitted: Came here with the fam for my birthday. Background: we’re from San Antonio, and I take pride in my Mexican food snobbery. Bread was hot and fresh; warm Brie app was melty and flavorful. Delicious, creamy Butternut squash The lamb was good but came out medium, despite ordering it prepared on the rarer side of medium-rare. Chimichurri sauce was the highlight of the dish — more sour and citrus-y than other similar sauces I’ve had, but it worked really well. Fantastic on the potatoes!

I came here again for a joint birthday dinner and loved it again! This time we tried the hanger steak and most of the desserts and all were excellent. The sweet roasted whole onion served with the steak is really great. For dessert we tried out the berry compote, chocolate crème brûlée and affogato — all were delicious. What hasn’t changed? This place is so easy-going — lingering over wine and dessert is just fine and no one ever rushes you out. The only deduction is because it’s still cash only — I continue to find myself running out to the ATM post-dinner, but it’s worth it.

This place is a real gem! Cute, cozy little spot with some outdoor tables in the summer. Not meant for groups. Friendly staff & service. Open kitchen. I’ve had dinner here twice now & I’ve always enjoyed it. Their food is simple yet super flavorful. I’ve tried the Warm Brie Cheese & Tuna Tartar for appetizers, delicious. In main course I’ve had Red Snapper Veracruz, Pan Seared Sea Scallops(YUMMY) & Pan Roasted Salmon on various occasions. Everything is cooked to perfection, very fresh & super tasty.

Good food! went for brunch, beautiful open kitchen and everything is simple, but good. nothing stood out. service was average– not great, not bad. I got the omelet which comes with any three toppings(chorizo, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, spinatch, goat cheese(etc). Everything was fresh and good quality. It was around 13 dollars as I got extra toppings which were only 50 cents for each extra, it’s usually a lot more at some places. I’m also a sucker for an open kitchen, everything that arrived at the table was steaming hot. Oh and get a side of beans to dip your omelet in… YUM.

Who says brunch can’t pack a little bit of heat? One of our freshman year hallmates was in town, so we decided to have a catchup reunion over brunch. Not sure how we picked Café Condesa, but it turned out to be a pretty good choice. I was extremely late(20 min) and we had an extra person come, but the hostess was very accommodating, reseating us to match our larger party. The only downside is that I didn’t receive a water glass until another 20 minutes after I had sat down(which I guess is my own fault but still…) I settled on the huevos divorciados(which apparently is a secret menu item!), and a long while later(I think they were seriously understaffed), I got my platter! Covered in a red and green salsa, this was probably the spiciest brunch item I’ve ever ordered. The eggs were cooked to a great consistency, with the yolks soft to the touch. I got a side of steak, which was recommended, but honestly, the dish would’ve been fine without the meat: add-on at your own discretion(add’l $ 4). The home fries were also a welcome change. Not crispy as I’m used to, they had more substance and spice to them, which was a great contrast to my spicy eggs. All-in-all, the food was delicious and well-priced(most entrees are less than $ 10). My only complaint is the waiting. We ended up spending close to two hours there, even though we were only eating for 30 minutes. However, it was rather relaxing and we weren’t really rushed out, as would be true with some other brunch spots in town. You make the call.

The last time I went here(several weeks ago), they weren’t taking credit cards because of some issue with the CC company so I would make sure to have cash just in case. Food and service here is always superb. I went here with a date and had a kick ass cobb salad. I would think that cobb salads can’t be anything beyond a cobb salad but their presentation is great plus the ingredients are so fresh that you taste every bit of avocado, bacon, egg, lettuce… yummm…The portion is huge too. I also had the scallops and enchiladas here. Both very very good. Scallops are always cooked very well and have a kick to it. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the west village. Food is reasonably priced, wine list is good(though priced not as well), and the cook staff is fun to talk to while you sit at the bar. Can’t believe they can cook such great food with a tiny kitchen like that! Impressive all around.

Great place in the west village for a relaxing dinner with a friend or a causal date, because it’s quiet*. I came here on a week night for a celebratory dinner in honor of Jesus. Food was pretty good, 3.5 star to 4 star. Had to share the Brie appetizer, which was the perfect portion for 2 people. I went with the salmon for my main because I was enticed by the yummy looking picks on Unilocal.Good ratio of fish to mashed potatoes, the asparagus was a nice touch and I liked the salsa with every thing. This is definitely a dish with simple flavors, but everything works really well together. Perhaps my favorite part of the meal was the Kobricks coffee served with steamed milk on the side, so good! Gotta come back for the artichoke ravioli… *O yeah, and there are free condoms in the bathroom!

Dinner review. Took advantage of the vacant NYC during the July 4th weekend. We had 9 people in our party and was looking for a place to have dinner before our rooftop firework festivities. Amazingly Condesa was able to take our reservation! Score! I love open kitchen restaurants and Condesa has one of those. Granted you will smell like food after eating there, it was a pleasure to see the chef and kitchen staffs prepping your food. Our favorite apps are the warm brie, coctel de camaron(garlic shrimp with tortilla bread) and tuna cheviche. All perfect to share. We had the cobb salad but honestly it fell short relative to the other apps we ordered. The restaurant was mostly empty when we were there(note to self come on ID4 to your favorite restaurants). Scallops — did not disappoint. Five plump scallops on a plate. I have to say that the star of the dish was the cauliflower and brussels sprouts concoction. The cauliflower purée was a great sauce to bind everything together. Marinated hanger steak — didn’t come exactly medium rare but we were so hungry so we didn’t send it back. The guac and grilled whole red onion were really good. My only complain is that the temperature of the food was not as hot as I’d like it to be. Could be that we had a big party so it took them a while to plate. But i wasn’t alone in this, others in or party had the same comment. Dessert was also surprisingly good Especially the crisp berry a la mode. Service was great overall but again we came during a quiet evening.

Love their Brunch here! Becoming a regular spot Huevos con Chorizo makes me Moan! Or you can make your own Omelett Freshly Squeezed OJ for a great start! Super friendly Waiter and Staff Place is small, don’t bring a large group(recommend 2 – 3 people).
